I saw the story, but didn't know how to reference it without seeming disrespectful to the man who died. One thing is clear: Baseball fans believe the laws of physics don't apply in a stadium.
I think the "idiot" part kicks in when a guy stands on a table, with no protection in front of him, to catch a ball during an event that isn't even a game situation. My hope was that he got promply escorted from the building, but the story indicates otherwise. I watched the HR derby last night, but didn't catch the very beginning. So I don't know if they acknowledged the death at the Ballpark. Either way, every baseball fan has to be aware of what has happened, and reminded of the inherent dangers involved in chasing fly balls. The fact that this guy survived and the other one didn't simply means there is no justice
This is just as idiotic as the guy who dies. He was just as stupid, folks. I say it's just another example of Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest.
Really? Dude, buy a baseball next time you're at Wal-Mart (maybe $10), scuff it up a bit and impress your friends by telling them you caught it at the game.
11:16 - You are frequently commenting & signing as Rage, in order to imply that Rage is gay, thinking (if that's what you can call what your brain does) that must be a terrible insult to Rage.
You are hilariously pathetic.
I'll just sign this as Neither Rage nor the Pathetic faux Rage
Rage is on his honeymoon with the ice cream lady. He is not here to defend himself so please be respectful of him and not comment about him till he get's back.
I'm with 2:51 I started to have doubts while studying the pix following my previous post. It's just a little too...something. There's no look of panic on any of their faces.
If that actually is faked, they should dangle him like that for real, and then drop him on his sorry head, followed by the rest of them for participating
12:19 Yes; his actions were idiotic and that's why he died. I believe that's what many of us have been saying for days now if you actually read the posts on this blog. You do a stupid thing, you reap the consequenses. No surprise there....idiot.
If this was staged, then it is in extremely poor taste. Mr. Stone died in an accident that was not intentional. I'm sure he didn't think, I'll take a dive for this ball and fall 20ft just to show off in front of my son! It was a TRAGEDY and many humans die in tragedies. That does not make them all idiots! However, anyone who "stages" a similar accident or pokes fun at such tragedy IS A HEARTLESS, PATHETIC, SOB! "Idiot" doesn't quite hit the mark.

I cannot believe anyone would help this goon. Let his azz splat on the ground. That will teach him. LOL
Sometimes we must die in order to not continually make the same mistakes over and over.
The risk vs reward consideration must be applied everywhere at all times.
When did Black Francis become a baseball fan?

And not a beer glass in sight on that table...

It's probably all about a lawsuit if he got any kind of an injury.
What a dumba$$!
No Tolerance signs would have prevented this.
Almost a HERO
@10:25, Nice call back to the days when indie rock had something.
Big boys ...with little boy brains.
I believe I effectively hammered this point home in yesterday's blog.
Are you saying Shannon Stone was an idiot that died?
I call it thinning the gene pool..unless hes a Cop or Firefighter then he becomes the smartest man in the room..

Wish he had fallen head first because stupid is as stupid does! I will no longer have any sympathy for these stupid people.
Barry: I believe your title is incorrect. Even if you do die, you are still an idiot. Just a dead one.
some of the weirdest, most ignorant and immoral people are firemen and policemen.

Extremely fake. They faked the whole thing...

Almost another idiot...
yeah.... hate that Mr. Stone left us, but catching a ball at all cost isn't too bright.
Why isn't HE the hero? The potential drop was farther and was willing to risk it all for a meaningless exhibition dillio.
Not only that- he went for it, he didn't slip and fall or assume there were bleachers behind to hook his heels on and miss- dude, he went FOR IT.
He's my hero. I want to carry his babies.
Rage
I call fake, obvious photoshop. Sheesh you people are gullible.
what happened to mzfitt..?
As near as I can figger, they're both idiots. One's a dead idiot, the other's a live idiot. But idiot is as idiot does.
Darwin rocks but random chaos is more interesting
Missed him by that much!
DF Charles Darwin
This was all staged by a bunch of idiots!
