Mindboggling

We hear about government waste all the time and normally it just gives us Tired Head. But today's story in the Los Angeles Times is shocking: $6.6 billion in cash intended for Iraq is not only missing -- it may have been stolen.

You think Bush bought that fancy house on his good looks? Hell yeah he stole it but you can't prove it. At least Obama doesn't steal from America.

Pssss. Look in the Democratic slush fund and you'll find it.

And you want the government to control your health care too?

Someone give 1:59 a gold star for being able to read the article.

Woopieee for you! Your welfare check should be here on the 15th!

1:59 What an idiot you are. Obviously that money was stolen while in Iraq. How many suitcases would it take to steal that much money? More than a truckload I am sure. You think it is OK for Obama to steal many times that from our grandchildren but sure put up a fight if you think a Republican got away with it. We need to wake up. Our government is stealing more than that every day from us through mandates, regulations and idiotic programs.

"used virtually no financial controls to account for these enormous cash withdrawals once they arrived in Iraq, and there is evidence of substantial waste, fraud and abuse in the actual spending and disbursement of the Iraqi funds."

This sentence stuck out, and to think we keep voting in more and more big government. Corruption knows no party lines!

2:44 - great last sentence. "Corruption knows no party lines!....

..did you read that, Big Ed?

The guilty parties are George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube.

I thought of "Three Kings" myself, but that was gold, not cold hard cash.

Assuming that the $6.6 Billion is truly all cash, that's a huge mass of $100 bills.

I would start my search by looking for Cadillacs with gold trim and 20 inch rims.

I didn't say Republicans were above that. I just noted that you automatically blame the Republicans and seem to think that the Democrat Party is not capable of stealing from us. You are just as biased as anyone else.

If you are also 1:59, you seem to be the one following party lines. Dems can steal just as much as the rest of them. Can you say trillions in deficits?

Has anybody checked inside the nostrils of that burly dude in the picture?

Or Michelle Obama's rear end?

Hey guys, this article documents some $6 Billion in cash dumped into Iraq that can't be accounted for. This was done during Bush's (mis)administration. I'm betting much of this cash went quickly out of Iraq and into corrupt Iraqi and American accounts in Switzerland. When we messed up Iraq we had to make an attempt to stabilize the place. We all know how that turned out (it contributed significantly to that huge deficit that y'all are now so concerned about). Yup, we're paying dearly for past confused and inept government programs during the Bush period.

Maybe it's in Pelosi's bedroom...I doubt anybody dare step in there.

I bet Weiner has it...

4:21 OK but Bush was still a better president that your homey.

421 - You're absolutely right about the mishandling of Iraq after Saddam's fall. You're also right about the spending during the Bush administration -- I've been criticizing the Republican Congress for that since at least 2007. I'm not sure how the deficit increase since Obama took office was Bush's fault. Maybe Obama didn't know about the debt thing.

why in the eff didn't we make a parking lot out of the entire middle east on 9/12. Sure we would have killed a bunch of rock throwing goat herders, but we would not have wasted all that time and money on a war.

It's Phil King's fault

Wordy, Please note that the entire cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars were "off budget." Bush built a giant debt (that goes on) to pay for those wars. No tax increase to pay for it. No tax increase to pay for the prescription benefit. By not asking for any sacrifice by individual or corporate taxpayers we have accumulated huge deficits. (BTW - managable deficits are not the boogie man depicted by the right).
