I amazed that any fellow conservative would really support him. He promoted and passed a state income tax ("franchise" or "margin" tax), taxed small businesses on REVENUE, extends tax breaks to oil and gas companies while defunding education, took power from local school districts to give to Big Brother to pass around--and screwed that up, claims success for all things good while blaming others for any shortcomings, he takes federal money quietly then claims he rejects all federal money (federal money is OUR money), he has exempted home builders from liability for defective homes, tried to sell us his trans-Texas crap by making us pay for it and giving it to a foreign country to run, and so on and so on...

3:48, you hit the nail on the damn head! I've been a conservative all my life and a registered Republican since 1992. I voted for Pat Buchanan, for Pete's sake! But in his three elections, I only voted for Perry once--the first time in 2002. I swallowed my pride and voted for the democrat in 2006 and 2010.
Perry is no conservative. But big business will love him. Better keep a close eye on him, or he's liable to give away the farm.
At least if he ran we would be rid of him.

Of course Perry has said and done some stupid things. Anyone who's been in the political spotlight as long as he has is bound to mess up occasionally. But Texas has enjoyed an economic boom while he's been in office. Credit him, the Legislature, the population, or whatever -- it happened on his watch. (This is Perry's "bragging rights" website, admittedly one-sided, but it cites kudos from Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, National Review, Fortune and others.) More sources here.
558 got it right. Only another Liberal Democrat could do more damage to the country than Obama has. Any Republican, regardless of other weaknesses, would be better for the country. (And you better believe that whoever the Republican candidate is, he or she will be the most thoroughly vetted candidate in the history of the world. The media will see to that.)

The first year Obama was in office, he spent more money than all the presidents from FDR through the Jr. Bush combined. Look it up sometime. But, it sounds like you are follower of the "Messiah" Obama, so you won't believe what you read.
As I said -- any Republican. Obama has just stabbed our old ally Israel in the back, demanding they give up all territory gained since 1967. They are just another in a long line of American allies he has offended or pushed away. Muslims hate America as much or more now as they did when Bush was President. (Hey, Obama killed Osama, right?) Obama can not give them enough of our money to purchase their favor.

The deficit -- the problem the Bush administration and Congress exacerbated and which infuriated Conservative Republicans; and which Democrats railed against during the 2008 campaign (even though two years of it was partly their fault,) has increased 31% under Obama. Not only did he not try to solve the problem, he actively worked to make it worse.
The Obama administration and Democrat Congress had two years to do something to alleviate the recession. They spent a trillion dollars of our children's and grandchildren's money on a "stimulus" bill which was a slush fund to pay off their political allies and which was a miserable failure for anything else.
The Obama administration lied, misled and deceived the public to gain support for a massive government takeover of the healthcare industry. They took control of GM and Chrysler, screwed the rightful shareholders, and gave the companies to their political allies, the unions.
So yes -- any Republican could do better.

After the election it was revealed that we had a 15 to 27 billion dollar deficit. How good is he when he knows there is a deficit but he doesn't know if it is 15 or 27 billon??
