A school billboard doesn't mean there are good spellers employed there...at least no more than a courtroom full of attorneys means there is some good lawyering going on...just sayin' :-)
Have to admit, being a skip words speed reader, I didn't notice the error of accept on first reading. I think texting is ruining it for people learning to spell correctly these days. I believe in the far future our language will change to an abbreviated way of writing and speaking.
I don't know what you folks are complaining about. That is EXACTLY how one of the Alvord ISD board candidates spelled it in her letter to the editor on www.alvordonline.com
Actually, I've heard of people misspelling words on billboards and in newspaper advertisements on purpose, so as to catch people's attention a little better.
I doubt seriously this was intentional. It looks to me as is the idiot who put up the sign spelled it as it sounded....again, probably a black school as that is how they tend to pronouce 'accept'.
9:45 There are no teacher unions in Texas. There are teacher organizations (TFT, ATPE, UEA) that will assist a member teacher with legal issues at school-but that's a LONG cry from "UNIONS" as we have come to recognize them.
Teachers may choose to join one of these organizations if they wish, but unlike "union" states, it is not required, and the organizations cannot engage in collective bargaining on behalf of teachers. Teachers join these organizations for legal protection in our increasingly litigious society.
12:01 If you were kidding with your misspelling of 'doomed', that's funny. If you were serious, you are a perfect example of why we are, indeed, doomed.
10:48 how does swapping eccept-for-accept get you to infer that eccept-means-exemplary? In the former example, just one letter was changed to creat a non-word. In the latter, you're comparing two words that have no connection other than their first letter. They don't even sound the same - one is ecks, the other is eggz
3:28 Because if you've followed this blog for a while you would know that "We're all Doomed" has been posting that phrase for several years and everybody knows it but 1:13.
No way a custodian did that. The custodians at my school would have misspelled most of the words. I assume that if you can't speak English you probably can't spell English phrases correctly. Most likely the Principal did it and the custodian is the fall guy.
Well, with the money crunch, why are the schools having to deal with these highly expensive tests? Did I hear on the news this morning that these tests cost the state over 80 million per year? That's crazy ridiculous! Do away with them!

Looks like some of YOUR spelling, Barry! :-)
They blamed the custodian, but the custodian probably graduated from a Texas high school.
They must recruit outside of the state for grammatical experts when posting to the public.
Remote......Yankee go home! Y'all can also carry a Messkin under each arm!
Let's throw billions more to the teachers unions. That'll fix the problem.
Probably a black school.
The person who put up this sign is actually overqualified for most billboard company jobs, journalism jobs, and other media positions.
What's everybody complaining about? I found the message perfectly ecceptable

With some of the teachers my kids have had, it is hard to argue we should keep them all.
just saying......
BTW, I was a classroom teacher!

We're all dumed.
Teachers Unions are a necessity nowadays. It's the evil, greedy admin and school board folks you should fear. Look at Decatur.

Sumbody give me Hell yeah if they think 1:13 is a Dumass.
And these are the retards that republicans want teaching religion in schools.
What is idiotic about 1:13 pointing out that 12:01 can't spell? He was correct.

The Lord wanted it spelled that way. So let it be written, so let it be done.
My Other Brother Darryl
They misspelled "Decatur" too.
Is the correct spelling Dickhater?
Queers are not allowed in Dickhater Tx...by Gawd.

Is this the same guy who is doing the "There are drugs in Rhome" zero tolerance signs?
lol, it that the entrance to bywell estates?
The term "just saying ...." irritates the hell out of me for some reason. Stop.
Actually this error is made as often as the affect/effect one. Part of it is the Texan dialect vs correctly pronounced Englis
should'nt it say.."we eccep's da challenge" ?
