Finally, a group standing up to fight a crooked Gov. who wants to do away with the middle class. People like him are why wages, and middle class are going down.
How about the fact that the unions have gotten all these teachers there and have shut down the schools? If a teacher is not there at the protest, then they have been calling in sick. Schools have been shut down for two days already.
I agree with 2:09. It is about time that someone stands up to unions, which are not much more than organized crime.
Why are these state workers not working on a work day? Unions used to have a place. Now they are just organized crime organizations designed to gouge the provider (government) out of every dollar they can get with no regard to the consequences to everyone else. Go to the third world nations where their presence is needed.

looks like if the employer in this case is one entity - the state of wisconsin - it is a de facto monopoly. therefore, there should be and equally strong union to even things out a bit.

Well they found Larry Harris guilty of intoxication manslaughter. I would be interested to know how they proved he was driving and drunk. Only witnesses could do this. Guess they was believable.

My brother-in-law worked his way up as a Union pipefitter in New Orleans, made good wages and had good health benefits, then moved to Texas and started his own plumbing contractor company. Now he makes his money off the backs of non-union workers, mostly Hispanics, paying them as independent contractors and providing no benefits while he goes fishing or plays golf. He fails to see the irony of it all.
It's the American Dream: Climb the ladder and then pull it up as fast as you can.
There is a lot of Union training opportunities in the DFW area. So I guess some people think that learning a trade sponsored by Union apprenticeships is a bad thing. I guarantee if you had a pipe busted, you would want a good union plumber to fix it, not some unlicensed person.

Unions gave all of us a 40 hour work week, reasonable retirement age, health benefits, retirement packages, vacation, safe work environment, living wages, power to fight corporate control, etc.
Of course wing nuts will delude themselves; but take away the benefits and then they'll whine.
There is a difference between a worker just trying to get ahead and the greedy union employees. Unions had their days, but that was about 80 years ago.
Now, all they are there for is to extort more money from the company to pay the employees, who are already extremely well-paid. Then, when the company refuses to give into their extortion attempts and moves the company's plant to Mexico, they complain about how companies are all moving the jobs overseas.

Let's see from what I've seen about Wisconsin the Governor wants to take away some of their collective bargaining power to force the workers to help pay for their health insurance (an increase from 6% to 12%) and would like them to contribute their own money to their pension instead of expecting the state to give it to them.
I work in the private sector and think I'm fortunate that my employer pays for 75% of my health insurance and matches the money I contribute to my 401k. Most of you are probably in the same boat--why should these folks get a pass?
Also, if they don't do this they will have to get rid of teachers and increase class size--do you think that will make the teachers happy?
American Airlines is a perfect example, lose money quarter after quarter, then give a bonus to your management team and make the passangers pay for bags to fund this bonus all while you make the union member take a 17 percent cut and lose 2 weeks vacation and sick time. I hope people wake up and see the Union is on their side.

Those crazy Dem leg. said they would return if the collective bargaining was removed from the legislation. That mean's they would agree to the benefit reduction, pension and health care and all other issues. Also in his budget includes, 900 million from education, splitting the UW system so the flagship school is ruled differently, and to allow the governor additional staff in his office. To this Wisconsin resident the only jobs Walker has created is more people in his office and his quiet acceptance of the Health care reform grant Money. Not reported at Faux news is the only union Walker excluded from the bargaining is Fire and Police, who happen to support him in his election along with 1/3 of his income from his campaign from out of state. You go Walker.........destroy 50 years of labor laws of Wisconsin. I live and breath and pay lots of taxes in Wisconsin.....and support my teachers......
Can't wait till we get to bail out some more of them good old unfunded

Seems to me every time a union is involved, the enterprise goes bust. For private companies, the answer is easy...leave the country.

Wisconsin lawmakers who left the capital in an attempt to avoid voting should be officially chastised for their INTENTIONAL dereliction of their sworn duty. I say, FOREVER revoke ANY teacher's teaching license who participates in a work stoppage during the school year. Clearly, they have little, if any, concern for the quality of the education they are providing to students.
Unity pays but tax payers pay more. For decades, unions have bought and paid for politicians and have politicians by the short hairs because unions deliver zombie union worker votes which assures unions get perks like taxpayer bailouts and exemptions from ObamaCare.
Unions have done more, the past 20 years, to destroy union jobs than ANYTHING that has gone wrong in the economy.
