Me neither, but then again I dont really care to know where it so I wont go out looking for it!

I think it is down Cuba road east of Bridgeport. I have heard stories since the 80's

Since you got married your posts have dumbed down noticeably. You sure it's such a good idea living with a woman?

It's called Screaming Bridge. It used to be a suspension bridge. You used to go down Preskitt Road and then take left, then follow it and turn left again. It would take you into Paradise. The bridge was a doper hangout and for the young lovers but did have the tall tale mystery to it. The legend I was familiar with was that you get on the bridge and then stop, honk your horn and then the ghost would come out.

Never heard of this place either. Have heard of some haunted bridge around Paradise though.

I like making comments I think you won't post. Sometimes you surprise me. Other times you don't.

Chaos rules.

There's been stories about Screaming Bridge forever. Been there a couple of times too.

Thank goodness, I never saw a ghost. I'd be in a mental hospital today if I did.

9:18 read right above you. yea.

I thought Hell's Gate was at Possum Kingdom lake.

What scholarly writing skills. That's Wise county, alright.

Anonymous said...

pretty sure that is down on the back side of the lake by the boy scout camp.

Anonymous said...

did a 4th grader write this??
Hells gates is out by the lake!

Used to go to screaming bridge as a teenager to see the ghost, but never heard of hell's gate. One point, however....ghosts are spirits of people left behind after death. 4 foot little beings with red eyes sounds more like a demon to me. Love ghost hunting, demons...not so much.

Anonymous said...

Thats not Hell's Gate, they were on LSD Freeway.

The description of the area really doesn't sound like Screaming Bridge.

Anonymous said...

Could be Hobo Bridge, although the driving and seeing/not seeing the log thing just sounds silly.

Anonymous said...

No, screaming bridge was way different and didn't involve a pasture, tall grass, etc. Sounds creepy, though, wherever it is....don't plan to visit.

Has anybody ever heard of the Incident at Banjo Bridge?

Anonymous said...

West end of Lake Bridgeport, flooded when the lake was built. Ask your parents BG I am sure they can tell you about it. My parents have told me about it. BG are you sure you grew up in B-port?

Anonymous said...

I thought it was on CR 1308, Dry Creek bridge. At night IT WAS CREEPY.

Anonymous said...

10:44 there is tall grass and a pasture at screaming bridge

Anonymous said...

It is CR 3114 off of Cuba Rd by BHS. Bridge is very creepy, and no longer in use.

I drove out there once and turned my car off, played my banjo for awhile, then the wise county begger came out.

So, I am not a local, but a move-in waaaaaay back when. I hear about one Screaming Bridge near Decatur, off Preskitt Road-said bridge referenced above-but with a witch that will come out and holler/scream at you ONLY if you stop on the bridge, kill the engine and put your keys on the hood. Then, to my surprise, hear about another Screaming Bridge, this one located between B'port and Paradise off Cuba Road, also referenced above-where a witch will holler/scream at ya if you stop on the bridge, kill the engine and put your keys on the hood...I have a teenager, and she has friends, and apparently, I am the cool mom who took daughter and friends to both bridges..,it was quite fun to watch them be scared. The B'port bridge didn't look to have been used as a drug den. Haven't heard anything about what you posted, but then again, I am a transplant..

Hey guys, hope I can clear this up. Hell's Gate is NOT the same thing as Screaming Bridge. (Granted they are not too far away from each other). Screaming Bridge is the spray-painted bridge that connects HWY 114 to Preskitt. Hell's Gate is off of Cuba Rd, just east of Bridgeport. The road on which Hell's gate lies has been blocked off and abandoned for almost 10 years now. It is not a paved road- just a gravel- that leads into town not too far from B-port HS. The road is out for a couple of miles. In the middle of the "out" section is this old bridge called "hells gate." One of the support beams is gone, making the bridge very dangerous to drive on. I have been there at night, and it's really not that scary at all. Hope this clears up some confusion.

Screaming Bridge and Hell's Gate are two completely different places. Get your stories straight before you post.

OMG
THIS BS PISSES THE SH#%
OUT OF ME
SCREAMING BRIDGE
HOBO BRIDGE
WITCHES BRIDGE
HELL'S GATE
IS
NOTHNG
LET'S SAY IT A G A I N
F-ing BULLSH#€ LIES
OF INBREED IDIOTS THAT
HAVE NOTHI G BETTER TO DO
BUT DRINK AND F
OK
LET'S EXPLAIN THIS
A G A I N
MY FAMILY Has OWNED THAT LAND SINCE THE
1870's
Ppl
No witch was hung
Nothing
Now during prohibition and since
U will find an occasional scatter with a moonshine steel
They r normally found near the old abandoned bus
After the 1960-70's when there wasn't
Persay someone done there. ALL THE TIME
FARMING IT IS WHEN THESE LS STARTED
The OLD WOOden bridge
WITH THE METAL CROSS BEAMS
U DRIVE UP ON ANY OF THEM
ESPECIALLY IN A QUIET AREA
U WILL HEAR THE HUMMMM
OF THE V I B R A T I O N
WHICH IS CAUSED BY ANY LOUD NOISE
basic audiology 101
(tryi I have my masters in the field-so shove it)
No witch hung
No witch screaming
Hobo bridge is from the moonshiners
Last I knew the old school bus is still down by the river
Ppl have been going out there for YEARS dumpIng their sh#€
Due to a torn fence
When the cattle was put on
The fence was fixed
Last time I drive down to check the was a burned boat
It's out in the woods
And an easy dump site
FYI
IT'S PARADISE
NOT BRIDGEPORT
when u cross the bridge
It's DECATUR
and it has been since before the 1900's
My mom sold the field part to a company
To put a giant wireless cell tower there
In 99 yrs it goes back to the family
Aka they rented the field for use if the tower for @ 100
If u been down there recently
U'll see all the large support wires

Which the wind hunks thru

Ok
If ur one of the many
DUMB F's
That go down there
After dark
MAKE SURE U TAKE A STRONG RIFLE
WITH U
WHY
LET'S SEE
Coyotes
Wolfes
And we have had a problem wih
AGGRESSIVE RUSSIAN BOAR HAVLINA's
SINCe BEFORE THE 1960's
When some dumb neighboring farmer imported them for meat farming
My family did dairy &
Reg cattle farming
They will charge
And they can do bodily harm
But
That's if ur not bitten by a rattlesnake
Water moccasin
Copperhead
Etc
I grow up
In the area
And on the farm
Both the woods & field
All my life
Especially used it for target practice
And when a dumb ass redneck
Would do their stunts
My family had to GO OUT & AND CHECK IT ALL OUT
Red eyes
4 ft tall
U obviously don't know russian havalinas
Good LUCK
DON'T LET US CATCH U TRESSPASSING
We shot first
Ask questions later
And unless it's recently sold
My mom did have the woods for sale
BUT WE R KEEPING THE MINERAL RIGHTS

Grand daughter of
KJS

Do ur homework ppl
FYI
Yes -I do believe in the paranormal
Just don't support LIES

Tam L said...

FYI
Another 2¢
The HELL's GATE
AT POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE
&
The old damn part of lake B'port
It's suppose to b close to the caves that have the "treasure" in it
Which is all under water
And has been for a long time

Tam L said...

ALSO
THE LAND ACROSS THE DIRT ROAD
and Across the river
Is still owned by the old families
Just past down
U have to go to
DECATUR ofc to look up the land deeds
As me and my mom did
BEFORE they put in the new cement bridge
Which is washin out the river front property
On our side
WHY
It wasn't our turn to give up "the right of way" for the next bridge or road expansion
It was the neighbor across the diet road
Which is full of lies
But that's another story
I can also tell u
When the old wooden cross beam metal bridge went in too
And before that
There WAS NO BRIDGE
they did he bridge
To connect Decatur and paradise
Since that area
Used to flood massively

Barry is from B'port
And his family is a long time residents of wise county
Nadine his mom
Obviously (to my surprise)
Didn't talk -or communicate while he grew up
Or
He elected not to listen
I promise
My family & his know each other
And she knows the bs of that bridge is LIES
Especially
Since they know the family
BARRY G
REALLY!?!
U know better
