Crazy Students. Crazy Teacher.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A teacher was removed from McGavock High School after a bizarre incident in a classroom that forced the principal to call parents and explain what happened. (More.)

Unfortunately, that is what teaching in a school district like that for 17 years will do to you... push you over the edge dealing with disrespectful kids every single day...it's a beating and unless you have taught in this type environment before, you have no idea what it is like. I do, because I did teach in a school like this. That is why I quit. Not worth my sanity.

Those two laughing heathens should have been suspended. There is no respect. Some of these kids need a good smack. They should bring back coropral punishment in schools. I blame the parents for no discipline! You could not pay me enough money to teach those disrepectful little devils. It is a wonder we have any teachers at all.

Sad for the school district. Sad for the teacher. Some kids need to have a good hard whipping!

I don't think anyone but those in public education will understand this video.... And that's a damn shame!!!

If you read the attached story they mentioned one kid who had to have his mom pick him up because, "he was too upset". Didn't say he was in the class just in the school and had to go home for the day because he was just too rattled to learn.

Really? I'm pretty sure in my days of high school they would have laughed, said nice try and told me to get my butt to my next class!

All he had to do was tell the kids to "get out!!"

If you can't respect the teacher... then you don't belong... he was part of the problem for a lack of control... but kids who have no respect just need to be sent out.... demand respect

A teacher at my old school was fired for getting into slap fights with students in the hall. The teacher and student would go out into the hall during class and mix it up. Someone called me sanctimonious for wanting the teacher to lose his certification too.

What this country needs to do is re-instate the military draft. Send those punk ass kids directly to boot camp, do you think the drill sergent will get their attention? Hell yes. That is this issue in our country, a break down of respect for our teachers, law enforcement, parents and even our elected officials. Think about it..

I am a retired teacher and school district administrator, and my heart really goes out to this teacher. He just had all that he could take, and he snapped. It is incredibly frustrating to be in a classroom where the students refuse to learn and show no respect for anyone in authority. I would bet that is the exact situation that this man was dealing with, and he just snapped. I cannot justify his actions, but I can partially understand.

Black, white, brown, or green and orange polka-dotted -- the fact is that this happens and not just in larger towns. A local middle school had a student moon the class one year, with the teacher standing there trying to gain control. I taught in the class next door and saw it happen.
Bottom line (pardon the pun) is that once the class gets that far out of control, it's practically impossible to regain any semblance of normalcy again. That teacher left at mid-term, and I doubt he ever tried to teach again. Like the retired teacher/admin, I don't condone it, but I surely do understand that it happens!
