The Bridgeport players were told they didn't have to attend the pep rally? Surely, you jest.

A fireable offense in any school district.

I think its funny that the bulls lost. Maybe next time the cheerleaders put on a pepralley Coach Henson will send his players instead of telling them they are dismissed and dont have to go if they don't want to. Because all the ralley does is distract the players.

Anonymous said...

The Bridgeport football players were told they didn't have to go to the PEP RALLY on Friday. Over half skipped, They were to COOL for such SILLY RITUALS. When you get full of Pride next comes the Fall.

Anonymous said...

Decatur will make the playoffs this year because only two real teams in their district and two pantsy's.

That guarantee's a third place finish and a playoff one and done!

Anonymous said...

Danny, Danny, Danny....stupid is as stupid does! Just saying!

Anonymous said...

so ur boys are too cool to go to a pep rally that is for them and u still want to focus on Decatur. I hope ur fans are not to cool to come and support them. I hope every school in the county does good. Stop being haters!

Anonymous said...

All that matters to Coach Henson is his son stats. Yes coach will get them to play offs, but he want win the one that really maters. He never does and never will.

Anonymous said...

Henson, why throw the ball when your back is avg. 8 yds a carry? Oh i can answer that, because i want my son stats to look good. Hey guess what coach, all those picks look bad not GOOD

Anonymous said...

The joys of coaching kids of Rock Truck Haulers..........You people are idiots....What have you done for me lately.......three weeks ago yall were all over Hensons jock..........You have no idea what its like to coach in this county.........wise county people are red neck idiots

Anonymous said...

I think by them not attending the pep rally, which is held in their honor, is disrespectful and for coach henson to encourage this shows how little he respects the school and the football tradition!!

Fire his a$$ today!! He is a poor excuse for a leader/mentor..who is running this school anyway??

Anonymous said...

Kids get punished for their inappropriate actions shouldnt he? What kind of role model is he?

Anonymous said...

I heard someone got seriously injured behind the stands where the kids play at the bulls stadium. Any truth to this??

Anonymous said...

I guess Chico played with a lot of Heart!!

Anonymous said...

So sad knowing all the hours those kids put in to support their team with a pep rally. What were they thinking???????????
Excuse me, what was HE thinking???

Anonymous said...

You would think the High School administration would be able to do something about Henson ALLOWING the boys to skip the pep rally.
I do know there were some that attended, and those boys should be praised, but the rest of the team, your actions made you losers not only on the field, but in the eyes of the cheerleaders, band, drill team AND student body.
Hopefully the administration will be more closely watching what is happening in the Bulls athletic department. THEY ARE NOT ABOVE ALL like they think.

Anonymous said...

Hey Chico, thought this new coach was supposed to turn everything around?? See, it wasnt coach Hart, it was the lack of play makers on your teams! All you chico parents thought your kids were great athletes and coach Hart was the reason for all the loosing...WRONG!

Anonymous said...

I dont know why they don't take all the teams to the playoffs. if you take 3 of a 4 team distric how sad is that you only have to win 2 games to make it.. I guess when we had to stay home with a 9-1 record we were not as good back then.

Anonymous said...

I hate to say this.......Its not the coaching in Chico...its the gene pool......our boys are midgets.Carter can bring discipline, he can bring character, but what he needs is some players. There hasnt been success in 50 years.........Steve Spurier cant change Chico.....when will this community realize its not the coaches????

Anonymous said...

Nope he has no respect for any of the girls programs.

Anonymous said...

If he can get away with this maybe we need to re-evaluate all administrative positions!!

Anonymous said...

I cannot believe Henson told his players they did not have to attend the pep rally. WHO THE HELL DOES HE THINK HE IS? I believe if I were the band, cheerleaders, pep club or even a bull fan I would NOT attend another game until his ass is FIRED!! HOW DARE HE!! There is a GREAT DEAL of very hard work that goes into preparing those rallies that are held FOR THE FOOTBALL BOYS!!! How totally disrespectful of all those folks who work to put on a pep rally! This man obviously thinks he is some sort of God and he can make decisions without any kind of accountibility!!! FIRE HIM!! He should be FIRED before Monday! If I were a parent of a student of BHS, I would gather all of the citizens I could to demand his removal immediately! What a low-life, sorry assed thing for him to do! SHAME on him...SHAME on his coaches for not correcting that ludicrous decision, SHAME on the admin for not removing him SATURDAY MORNING!! I just lost all/any respect I had for that man. Never really had much for him anyway, but now I realize he never deserved it anyway! BHS student body, cheerleaders, band, etc... next pep rally, go into the gym and just have a sit in! Let those big headed boys try to win without your or the town's support! Am I ticked off? I think anyone can tell...and ALL OF BRIDGEPORT should be too!
Henson... YOU ARE A TOTAL ASS!!

Anonymous said...

....and you, Barry, are a wimp for not publishing my comment! People should be furious over Henson's "Godliness" bighead! They should DEMAND he be fired! I can't believe you censored my comment. Don't ever talk again about being liberal and "freedom of speech" rights! There was nothing bad in that comment!

Anonymous said...

As a cheer mom I am highly offended that he would tell the players they didn't have to go. They put hours in getting ready for the pep rally. I have no respect for him or his program. Wonder what would happen if the cheer coach told her girls they didn't have to show up for the game. Henson needs a reality check!!!! Oh wait he got one last night!!!

Anonymous said...

Some of these coaches are out of control.
It is the responsibility of the school board to control rogue behavior.
They don;t in Bridgneport or Decatur

Hey dumb ass 3:16 PM. Chico won something like 4 district championships in a roll before Hart got there. Im pretty sure from 94-2001 there were 5. Basketball won about every year during that period. (god bless may) Softball the same. Baseball in the early 90's dominated everyone in the county much less there district which the cruised through most every year. Had a state champion golfer and at least two state champions in track. Quit speaking out of your ass. Hart destroyed an entire program and I hope all the Bulls run Henson out of town and give Hart the job. You will see what a good guy but a horrible coach does to a program over a few years. Leave us alone and go back to worrying about Henson's son or whatever it is you worry about because we are doing what we have to do over here and will take our licks in the process. We will get it fixed and dont care one bit what you think about us while we are doing it.

God bless Chico and its great community.

To realize its not the coaches would make them have to look in the mirror. It's much easier to put the blame on someone else.

Anonymous said...

Well, all these negative comments show us how important football is and how dumb football coaches are.

Both are so over rated.

Are there ever pep rallies held for our teachers who are doing the really hard work?

Anonymous said...

Get a life guys. If student body were allowed choice of attending pep rally most wouldn't attend. If pep rally were held after hrs, most would not attend.

Cheerleaders, pep rallies are dinasaurs who haven't died yet.

Let's face it, cheerleading has been reduced the bump &grind. Yell leaders have gone the way of history.

Anonymous said...

Its hard to imagine that the Administration would do much when the Principal is married to a coach and both the AP's are ex coaches...as a person who has a vested interest in Bridgeport ISD, the focus has been on Athletics far too long....there are so many VERY SUCCESSFUL programs at that school that get no press, and no praise from the admin....

I have a very good friend who is a teacher there and they said this is the worst teacher moral they have ever seen in a school...and then the Athletic department pulls this type of stuff...If this is happening, imagine what other types of things they are getting away with.......

Anonymous said...

Hahaha because football is so important :-D

8:03 Cheer Mom,
Don't act like all the Bridgeport cheerleaders put alot (if any) time into a game/pep rally. Most of the time the cheerleaders are sitting around staring at the field. Only cheering when someone in the STANDS starts chanting. Then the cheerleaders say oh, guess we better cheer. And on top of that non of them even look like they want to be there, they all have frowns on their faces just as they have for the past few years, win or loose they have a big sting on their face.

Maybe if they would start to do something it would make a difference in school spirit.

Anonymous said...

8:19 maybe if you had spent more time in an English class you wouldn't look so ignorant in your post. Learn to spell and write a complete sentence.

As long as there is football there will be cheerleaders. Maybe the player and coaches could care less if they are there, but the amount of hours they put in weekly to prepare for the pep rallies should be respected.

Henson's boy leaves this year and all we can hope is that he is right behind him. God Bless the next school who is dumb enough to hire him.

Anonymous said...

8:03...What games or pep rallies have you attended? I agree some of them don't act like they want to be there but not all of them. Lets not generalize here, MANY of them work hard and cheer for the boys. There is NO reason Coach Henson should have given his boys for a reason to miss the pep rally. If nothing more than tradition they should have been there. Any way you look at it, it's disrespectful to all those involved. You can't argue that.

Anonymous said...

3:51 Here is an English lesson for you. I took the liberty of correcting a few grammatical errors for you. You're welcome.

As long as there is football there will be cheerleaders. Maybe the player(s)<- and coaches could care less if they are there, but the amount of hours they put in weekly(,)<- to prepare for the pep rallies(,)<- should be respected.

Anonymous said...

Cheerleaders have a place in football and that is to get the football players UP before the game and after if I remember my high school days. NO TURF NO CHEER.....

Anonymous said...

No Turf

No Cheer

Get behind the Grass

Anonymous said...

As I attempted to say in an earlier post that was not published, Henson seems only concerned with his son's stats. He ignores or downplays all other sports - especially the girls' teams. When is the administration going to take charge?

Anonymous said...

man decaturs looks beautiful now...bport people are freakin crazy!

Anonymous said...

Do it on real grass like real men.

Anonymous said...

Why would you drag chico into a conversation that they werent involved in? Does it make you feel better? Just like the kids at bridgeport and decatur, the kids at chico play hard. Their community, cheerleaders, players, and fans all take pride in their team, win or lose. If you feel like you need to compensate for your own personal downfalls by bashing people that dont deserve it, then bash away. It's classy. I love watching all the Al Bundy's in this county re-living the "glory days". I'll call you when I need my pool cleaned.

Danny has never approved of anything that showed "spirit". He hates the pep rallies, hates the moms decorating the locker rooms, hated the "Momma Bull program" - if it is a spirit rally of anykind he could care less for it! My son played baseball and we were losing every game .. well the boys decided to start wearing eye black under their eyes to rally their team. Each boy wore a different design .. low and behold they won a game. Now I know it had nothing to do with the eye black, but they however beleived it to be "good luck", so they TRIED to continue this litte tradition - and then you know who, who cared less about the baseball program, came in and nixed this as well. He is a sour, bitter, unpersonable, rude, unapproachable and chauvenistic man. He needed to go along time ago ....

Anonymous said...

This is why there is NO school spirit in Bridgeport. From the administration feeling that a pep rally takes too much time from away from class time to the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders only being allowed to cheer for the home team. What is the matter with Henson? Why is he allowed to promote the disrespecting of our young ladies and band members. If for some reason the cheerleaders and band didn't show up, I assure you he would be the first to say something about it. The pep-rally is a time honored tradition that promotes school spirit and pride. Without it, you have what we are facing now....generations of children with no school spirit or school pride. I would also like to add that this "Henson" mentality is not just limited to high school sports. There is at least one of the Bridgeport Pee-Wee coaches that feels that the cheerleaders are useless. This particular coach has a daughter as well as a son. I wonder if he would like other coaches talking about his daughter the way he talkes about his teams cheerleaders???

Anonymous said...

Somebody please write a letter to the editor, about Henson. He can't beat you up

Anonymous said...

Maybe Barry should go to the Bridgeport School Board meeting tonight and "present" these arguements to them, give me a copy to read. I believe too many parents are worried about speaking up because of retaliation by Henson on their children. Wouldn't that explain all these anonymous posts that are obviously from Bridgeport People.

Anonymous said...

It does not do any good to go to a school board meeting. The President is TOOOOOO interested in protocol to listen to what you have to say. The others sit there like DUMMIES and only pay attention to the SOUP (superindent). FOOTBALL has been their THING for so long, and academics has taken a back burner and now we are going to have NOTHING. So who do you thing will listen to any complaints?

Anonymous said...

1:17 are you talking about Decatur School board Turf Guys, I mean kinfolk board, whatever

Anonymous said...

Has Chico won this season yet? Just curious.

Anonymous said...

To me the character that danny and his coaching/following staff shows especially when you have players getting into fights and kicked out of the game like we did friday,
he evidently wasn't worried about getting into trouble about it.And the ref had already thrown the flag against MW.NO DISCIPLINE!
Come on School Board do the right thing here! Understand we cant stand by our selves because we do wonder if our kids will be punished.
But I won't come to another game!
Anyone????

Anonymous said...

11:18 - good idea. If bunches of folks wrote letters, that might get some attention. Letters to the editor, personal letters to the school board members, and a few phone calls might work too.

Send one to Henson and maybe somebody will read it to him. :-)

Anonymous said...

I really don't care one way or another if Decatur gets TURF. I go to football games to watch my son play and that's it. I don't care what kind of field, who we are playing, about the band, or if we even win. I'm only there to watch my son play. And he better continue to get playing time.

Anonymous said...

More calls and letters please

Anonymous said...

10:05...if your son is good enough he will continue to play..

Anonymous said...

Where were the members of the band, stars, and cheerleaders at the pep rally and bon fire before the Decatur Game? No where to be found. Felt sorry for Henson and his team. What is fair is fair.

Anonymous said...

Funny that all you folks are howling for the administration to do something!

This is the same admin that reduced the number of pep rally's to 4 from 10 this year to increase time in class...

As if the 4 hours class time saved by removing these events is going to make or brake the district's test scores!!

The strongest schools with lasting programs are those with STRONG, TIME HONORED, TRADITIONS!!!

Anonymous said...

They where told not to go to bonfire by the person you are feeling sorry for Dip Stick.Get the facts before you start running your head.

Anonymous said...

If henson left...so would the football program! Get use to it..football rules around here!

Anonymous said...

They had the bonfire right in the middle of the JV football game, explains why many of the high school students weren't there.

Anonymous said...

Nope 4:37::they wheren't told not to go to bonfire...we where told they would be having to get up earlier to "perform" at the district pep rally.. But funny thing most if not all where at the bonfire!!! As well as the Cheerleaders staying up all night to toliet paper Senior Boys Houses! But as a football parent it is a little difficult to cry for a missed pep rally when there has been no "SIGNS" of support..(the only signs that where put out on the road to Decatur game was done by the MOMS!)And your right the stands start most of the cheers!
We have some AWESOME Cheerleaders, that CAN and WANT to Cheer!!
As for the player that was mention earlier for getting thrown out of the game, he is a Great kid that got caught up in the moment..he did have to deal with the punishment as would any kid on the team...OUR Boys have a lot of respect!
8:48 You are more than welcome next year to figure out a "perfect" time, place & date to hold the bonfire..
Coach Henson has been a great Mentor & Coach to our son..and no we aren't related.. I encourage you to attend a Booster Club meeting and listen to him Praise each time a player did well, and also explain what was done wrong along with what needs to be corrected.
5:32 Please don't come to any more games, and we darn sure don't want to listen to you say negative comments!!

As always
"GO BULLS"

PS....We have "HEART"

Anonymous said...

Are you kidding me? Henson as a great mentor? I have seen first hand how he demoralizes and humiliates kids. I have seen him retaliate against kids because their parents dared enough to care about the treatment of their boys. Henson is a disgrace and you can just add his latest move to the long list of reasons why he shouldn't be allowed to lead children. His is no role model and shame on the people who allow him to remain in his current position. Wake up BISD, it's time for change!

Anonymous said...

Amen 9:46. He is no role model what so ever. If i had kids in that school they would not be aloud to play any sport for him. He thinks he is god just because he can do whatever he wants and get a way with it.

Anonymous said...

Hmmmm. We should always respect and support our children, whether it's high school, middle school, or elementary. This includes the football team......AS WELL AS ALL THE COMPLIMENTARY ACTIVITIES ACCOMPANYING. For Coach Hansen to tell his boys essentially "What you do and you are so much more important than these OTHER KIDS.....just blow 'em off and go do whatever you want to" is very non-productive, exhibits poor role modeling, and essentially makes him appear to think he is GOD and football is God...........oh wait. Football IS God here isn't it? My mistake. I thought school was to educate and prepare out students for the outside world - outside of Wise County - outside of the football or baseball or basketball playing field.

I'm not demeaning sports - but they are electives.....and not required for graduation. IT does it us pride to win the battle of Big Sandy, but honestly, I don't remember after 1 year who won what......but I DO remember which kids go on to be successful lawyers, doctors, businessmen, nurses, teachers, etc. And ya know - MOST of those successful students did NOT play football. After all, there's only 11 kids allowed on the field at a time...and HOW MANY kids do we have in school.

I think of The Golden Rule - Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you. If you want your football team to be supported, perhaps you should show some courtesy and support for everyone else.........AMEN. End of sermon......

Them missing a Pep Rally is kinda like giving your 90 year old grandma a sponge bath or pooping your pants in a public place it just does'nt work out

THANKS HENSON
