The idiot finally woke up to the fact that all a contested trial would allow, is the possibility that he could receive the death sentence! (If the guilt/innocence was not much in question, which it sounds like it wasn't, due to statements he made on the scene, which were going to be admissible in trial proving his intent.)

Less than what York deserves, but we will take it.

3:53 Bet you're a cop, right? Jerk

All liberal weenies should be very happy because we know how they feel about the death penalty. They don't mind paying his room and board and health insurance for life. But I do.

Once again the justice scales did not balance.

WHY does he even deserve to live?

The SOB should be hanging from a tree outside the courthouse right now.

Give him the needle, the prick is scared to die..

It is nice to know that if I am killed in the line of duty and Greg Lowery is the District Attorney, he will provide the person responsible with Housing, Satillite TV, Medical, Meals, Fitness Club Membership, Library Membership, Legal Expenses for the rest of his free. No my orphan son would have to pay for it through taxes. Thats Wise County Justice!

It's cheaper to lock 'em up for life than it is to execute. That is a fact, go look it up.

Hey 4:31, how would feel if some tweaker killed your son, daughter, mother or father...I have an idea; SUCK IT!!!!!!

See what lithium batteries, cold medicine, fertilizer, and no telling what else will do for you.

4:31, bet, no... KNOW you're an as*hole! York does not deserve to live!

He doesn't deserve to die....that's the easy way out. Put him in an empty padded room. Play Justin Beiber music in the room for the rest of his life.

Just keep in mind that no matter what your opinion is that both the York and White Families have suffered...And the children of Mr. York and Child of Sgt White will be the ones that suffer the most in the end. So Please be kind and chose your words that will uplift them both.

An officer killed in the line of duty, probably the biggest case in Wise County and the District Attorney wouldn't even try to get the death penalty. I don't know the facts of the case but to not even try! It may be time for a new leader in that office! I can except the life without parole if a jury gives it to him but I think our taxes are paying for the several attorney's in that office, 4 I believe, and they must not be from here! Just another crime taken care of the easy way.

Wow, how are people so ignorant. The Death Penalty would actually be easier for Stephen York. He will have no freedom for the rest of his life. He will be completely sober, not under the influence, completely aware of all his past mistakes and eventually remorse will set in- if it hasn't already. He will have to live every day remembering that he took a life. His life will suck. The Death Penalty would free him from the mental suffering and captivity he will endure. Of course this was a horrific crime. Sgt. Randy White's family are comforted by the fact he is with the Lord.

10:14 - I usually side on the more harsh side of punishment for crimes like York committed. However, playing Justin Beiber music in the room for the rest of his life officially crossed the line into cruel and unusual punishment.

12:41 - Well put about both families.

The 10 Commandments are pretty clear on God's position on the death penaltly. I believe it reads, "Thou shall not kill."

Unless I'm mistaken, the words "unless the government does it for retribution" have not been added.

Some people can be so cruel and judgemental, we as people are not meant to judge. What York done was wrong, should he be punished, Yes, but anyone that has lived here most of their lives knew him, and knew he was not a mean person at all, yes he had a history of drugs, and many people have a history and a past they would like to forget, was he a killer, NO, he is a FATHER, SON, BROTHER, UNCLE and FRIEND, and if you knew him you know he didn't do anything intentionally to hurt anyone, under the influence makes you someone your not, did he need help with his drug problems, yes he did, but to say he made any comments with intent while under the influence, you are not in your right mind nor do you know or remember what you said or did, just as I'm sure many a human under the influence of alcohol does not remember what they said or did the following day and don't want people to judge them based on that. I have many friends in Wise County that are police officers. My heart goes out to the White and York families because they both lost something that day, no punishment will bring Officer White back nor will it give the families of both parties their family member back. I know York reached out that day for help, strung out on drugs saying people were after him, he was turned away because they knew him and his history, why wasn't he locked up then, a lot of things could have been prevented, but noone remembers these things or wants to. The White and York families are the one's suffering, their children especially. Would you want your family member to be judged so harshly based on a accident while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, knowing that if those things were not present it would have never happened. Some people need to get outside their perfect little world where they make no mistakes, and think about what their saying, because their words only hurt the family members, and its not right

10:22 you were not there, you don't know.
He will be traded for a pack of smokes on a daily basis. Coward.

AMEN 10:22
I agree 100%
I have family in law enforcement and he should serve time....but this was not capital murder!
When some drunk steals a car and hits someone in the near future, and they will. I wonder if they will be be charged with capital murder. NOT
Just Saying....
Justice, I don't think so.

11:23 You're an idiot! If you're a lawyer surely your broke. Learn the law then repost.

Anonymous said...

10:22 so its ok to kill someone as long as you are hooked on drugs? Drugs are illegal. Someone died as a result of another persons use of illegal drugs.

Anonymous said...

11:23 Your Wrong!

With one exception, the only crime for which the death penalty can be assessed is "capital murder". Capital murder is specifically defined by the Texas Penal Code as murder which involves one or more of the elements listed below:[3]

Murder of an on-duty public safety officer or firefighter (the defendant must have known that the victim was such)

York had committed at least five felonies prior to intentioally driving that vehicle into the back of White's patrol car. The evidence is overwhelming including a confession. he should have been should have had his day in court and then hung by the neck until dead. All you liberals can cry about it for what ever reason you want but it sets a very bad example for the justice system in Wise County. The Law Enforcement Officers of this county endure bad pay, bad work hours, cursed at, spit on, bit and punched, just to see the criminals plea bargain and recieve probation. Why should we expect the DA Office to do anything other than a plea bargain.

The STORY of Jack Ruby in Jack County District Court would have closed the final chapter of the book. What happened with "Pancho" in 1979 was an injustice. York is very lucky to see his "kids" and former wife make it through life. Once a Sh*thead, always ...........

I wonder who would have to be murdered in Wise County before someone actually goes on trial and is executed. The people of this county should be concerned about this type of injustice. With all the evidence in this case and it was plea bargained what do you think will happen when one of your family members are killed. Do you really think that you will find justice? Justice has been removed from the Criminal Justice System, now it is just a Criminal System. The only difference between a Liberal and a Conservative is that a Liberal has not had any serious crimes committed against them or their family. Drug usage is not a defense! Everyone nows that drugs are illegal. Everyone knows that Stealing vehicles is illegal. Everyone knows that running from the police is illegal. After York had committed all of the above and Murder. I had hoped that killing Police Officer would be grounds for the death penalty and not retirement from crime.
