What a diverse group.

Old white people--The most discriminated against group in America! Liberals don't like them because they are white and took care of their business throughout their life so they have money and want to keep it. Liberals don't care much for folks who pay their bills and work hard...rather see a man with his hand out for a government check than someone responsible.

10:22 agreed. Why is it o.k. to discrimate about white people in this country?

Bud usually only tells half of the story. I would like to know severals, chief among them about what time this meeting was held. If it was during the middle of a weekday, then that would explain the mostly retired crowd. The younger people were working and could not get off work.

I have learned from reading Bud Kennedy through the years that he is not interested in the facts. He doesn't want to learn the truth about something.

He wrote an article one time complaining about something about education. My wife, who is a teacher, wrote him several e-mails in response to give the teacher's side. He was not interested. We even offered to let him sit in on her class to learn the truth. He have yet to get a response from him.

Bud needs to just stick to restaurant reviews and stay away from political stuff.

10:22 - You are nothing but an idiot!

10:40...Why am I an idiot? What facts do you have to back up your opinion, or did you just not like what I had to say? Truth hurts that for sure!

10:33...Right on about the food reviews, looks like eating is definatly something he has an abundance of experience with.

As they say WE don't want socialized medicine (public option), but don't touch my Social security or Medicare. Brilliant!! What they mean, we don't want YOU to have it, you Non-working, Non contributing, Non white person.

I'm not much like that crowd, but given the choice between these successful old folks and, say, an ACORN meeting, I'm gonna go with these guys

Well, 10:22, you could prove that you are not an idiot by spelling "definatly" the proper way, "d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y."

I would wager some money that it wouldn't matter what time of day, week or year this meeting was held, it would still be composed of older, white residents of Ellis County.

What strikes me as funny is that these people are rooting for a political party that stands against the very entitlement programs (Medicare, Social Security) that they want protected. Give me a break!

bBoxerfan: In what way are the Repubs (I assume the party to whom you refer)rooting against Medicare & Soc Sec?

I bet you can hear a bunch of loose poppin dentures there.

I think they are meeting at a funeral home. If they are not then maybe they should since it would be more efficient.

I would be interested in knowing the percentage of these folks who -- other than voting -- have never participated in organized politics before. That's what scares the Democrats so much, that their policies have awakened the sleeping giant.

Ok, you caught me, you are the bestest spelling police on this blog! I give you an A for being great at catching spelling errors but just remember it will catch up with you one day!

Maybe some of these folks in this particular group of old tea partiers support social security/medicare, and want to protect it, but I doubt they speak for all tea partiers. I myself would like to see a system where I at least had some control of my social security dollars...which I and everyone else that works above the table pays into in the form of payroll taxes. I am not sure why you call that entitlement..if I hadn't payed it in taxes then I would have saved that money and invested it on my own. You should only be "entitled" if you helped fund the program. I am sure that you are simply just for handouts for all, despite whether or not you lived your life responsibly...give me a break!!

11:02 and 11:18. YOU are the idiots here. Senior citizens PAID IN their money all their lives for Medicare and SS money. In effect, they're getting back THEIR MONEY. The "non-working, non-contributing, non-white" people of whom you speak DID NOT. They have their hand out for OUR money. That is the difference, genius.

@ Anonymous 1:41:

What makes you so sure that I haven't paid MY MONEY into these programs? Also, how would those who benefit from any new entitlement programs - like universal healthcare - not pay in their fair share? Do you have any proof that "non-working, non-contributing, non-white" people are the only ones who benefit from Government programs? If so, please provide the links so that those who are obviously less intelligent than you may access them.

That is most certainly a group that loves spending on favored social security type programs.

If a newspaper reporter/columnist had blogged about a New Black Panther Party meeting, replete with a photograph, captioned "Is this the party of the future?", do you think he/she would have a job today?

Anonymous said...

They look as diverse as an NAACP meeting.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha, not a single young person.

I find it kind of interesting that Democrats are all of people getting involved in politics as long as they are on their side. The second that anyone gets involved in opposition to the Democrats, they are "racist", "Nazis", etc.

Emotions can be manipulated by both right & left wingers. Discussion can occur without screaming and disparaging signs. If individuals want to collectively sit down and discuss the course of their government, then more power to them. The next step is vote your convictions. The final step is to accept the collective electoral outcome until the next round of voting, where you have another chance to change things. It's called a Democratic Republic. Embrace it.

ps - Deep breath, deep breath, deep breath. There, all better now.
