As I mentioned, I'm going to experiment with abandoning The Spin because of boredom. Alternatively, as a test run, I'll just post four or five headlines from The Messenger here every Sunday and have you boys go at it.

I still don't understand why little towns like Newark need (can afford) their own police force. It seems to me that the County Sheriff has the resources to properly cover these small towns. The level of police professionalism would certainly benefit the citizens.
The county only puts one officer for the Mewark, Brair and Boyd area, so tell me how that is good resources??? If there is an emergency in Newark and the officer is in Brair, how long would it take to get to the call?? Even small towns need a police department. And if the council handles the money the correct way they can afford it as well. I am so happy that I do not live in that town becauseit is going ten steps backwards just to take one step forward!
I don't know any of the people in the baptismal photo and am not speaking of their lives but I do not understand why most people who claim to be the christian type will do public things like get baptised so everyone can see but fail to follow the simplest of God's commandments such as love thy neighbor. Yet they continue to claim to be christians.
1 - Another little boy learned not to go skinny-dipping in a stock pond full of snapping turtles.
2 - Sounds like homeowners have decided to stop wasting their time banging their heads against a brick wall down at the tax office.
3 - I've heard Lake Bridgeport called a lot of things but this is a first for "Cleansing Waters." Where do you think Kimbrough will shower off those "Cleansing Waters" before he risks life and limb in Alaska?
4 - Good to see a drunk driver volunteer to make sure, for the next 2 years, that he doesn't kill anyone while driving drunk.
5 - If Newark got rid of the court clerk and police department Newarkians would only have 1/2 as much to argue about.
Wow Barry I respond to 2:26 and you don't like what I have to say so you don't print it?? I didn't realize how one sided this blog is. Consider yourself a reader down!
7:33 - Just FYI - for the last couple of months, I have noted that some of my responses are not printed either; they were perfectly harmless responses which Barry would have no reason to censor.
For whatever reason, sometimes I have to hit PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT twice for it to work.
Perhaps you are having the same problem as I am. I have no idea why that starting happening.
IMHO Barry rarely censors comments and just lets all the commentors go, for better or worse...... too often worse.
Having a police force certainly does NOT mean there are police on duty in these small towns. Most have NO coverage after midnight till about 9am. Any emergencies are handled by fire departments and/or the sheriff's department. The quality of coverage is another question all together.
Seems to me that I have only seen the Newark Police - parked at city hall - parked at Venice Cafe - parked on the side of 718 in different spots waiting for speeders.....Rhome Police and Wise County Sheriffs have always been readily available for emergencies. Just saying....
I heard if you are living in say a 20,000 condo when you turn 65 that is what your property taxes will be frozen at for the rest of your life. You could upgrade to say a 500,000.00 home at age 66 but still be paying the lower taxes you were frozen at. Is this true? I always thought they were frozen where they were when you bought the property you homestead... A home builder in wise county said Mickey Hand told him this and that most people don't know about it.
It is my understand that only school taxes are frozen at 65 if you apply for it, but that freeze is on property at the time. Improvements can change everything.
d crane you need to take a chill pill. you seem to be a real pissed off guy. folks must avoid making contact with you at parties for fear they'll be cornered in some half hour political speech.
Y'all do realize, the assignment was to make a humerus comment about The Messenger headlines the blog owner put on his blog, right?
What's with most of y'all bitching and moaning every chance you get. I'd bet good money that most of y'all have plenty to eat, are sitting in a/c screwing off at work or screwing off at home. What the hell do any of you really have to bitch about? Lighten up and enjoy life.
7:30 At age 65, if your homestead is a mobile home or condo worth $20,000, your taxes are frozen at that value which means you would pay NO taxes due to homestead exemptions. Then after Jan. 1, you can buy a $500,000 house and port your taxes over to it! It is a legal way not to pay taxes. Know someone who did this and checked it out with the State of Texas comptroller's office.
Appraisal office backs off of increasing property values to avoid Tea Party protests. This year the school boards who want astro turf and lap tops will have to raise taxes instead of appraisal district increasing property values! Their necks will be on the chopping block.

What was the plea? Probation? Hard time? What was sentence? Guess I'll have to go to the Messupper for details.
2:26 amen

What about Boyd and Decatur?
Where are they heading for new superintendents?
Okay....
So early experiments often do not produce the desired results!
What about Boyd and Decatur?
Where are they heading for new superintendents?
A better headline would have been:
Naked child had his wet butt smacked while pitching a fit.
I heard that Boyd and Decatur are both likely to hire local folks to lead the districts.
I wonder if Mr. Howard and Mrs. Quantz are involved with the decision?
Would both hire former principals?

Website is a great place to start and I use it as my home page. Howabout replacing the Spin link with a link to Facebook?
I'm just sayin.
No one's biting 5:11, 5:17 and 5:18. Or are you one in the same (I think so).
We need no trash talk about this important issue.
Thank you to our Board for the long hours and dedication put into this crucial issue.
Clearly the majority has failed to grasp the concept.
Also want to add that's the worst Okie Noodling I've ever seen.

Property values decrease.... The next headline will most likely be school boards raise rates.

There is nothing wrong with having a naked tantrum every now and then.

Psh...property values. If we would just get rid of private property in general we wouldn't have to worry about such bourgeois concepts.

somebody else needs a little cleansing.....
I wonder if the Church got the necessary permits to use the lake?
How long before they outlaw religious events in public?
Oh great, now we'll never that taste out of the water!
7:30 AM
aint true. mickey wouldnt have said that..

The Spin: Blog Edition=1st week failure!
2:01 I hate being a spelling Nazi, but dude, humerus is the spelling for the arm bone. I think you meant humorous.

Epic Fail, Barry.
