I Don't Think This Was Predicted

A short but violent thunderstorm line (moving at 50 mph) is headed this way. (We now return you to regularly scheduled programming.) Edit @ 9:53 am: Well, that was a big bag of nothing. I was getting reports that we were going to get hit with hail and 50 mph winds and what do we get? Nothing. It was like Noah split the storm so that the animals could walk two by two across the Red Sea. But it looked bad on radar: Thanks, Tony:

Half dollar sized hail possible, people.

Just came through Jacksboro. There was pea size hail for approximately 10 minutes. The storm only lasted about 15 minutes.

Skies are clearand, the rain has stopped and the sun is shining in RAB.

I really didn't think it would end this way.

It was predicted several days ago that Monday and Wednesday of this week could be stormy.

We got hammered in Newark for a good 15 minutes, with strong winds and pea size hail and lots of lighting. But the sun is starting to shine..Weather guys said it would stay to east of us, they were wrong..

What is the appropriate dress code for jury selection in Wise County court (for men)? Are jeans allowed? I'm a new resident and not sure what is acceptable......saw a Ft Worth judge berate a guy for wearing slightly worn (but not torn) jeans.

I notice the Messenger online is refering to this as a "squaw line." Were there really a bunch of Commanche women causing this, or did their spell-check just not like the word squall?

Anonymous said...

Decatur hill sometimes has that effect on storms approaching from the west.

Anonymous said...

10:10, there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Anonymous said...

"At 9:30 a.m. a squaw line rumbled over Decatur. The gray-black band are bringing severe thunderstorms to the area."

Wow...anyone over at the Messenger know how to proofread??

Anonymous said...

The mess makes these errors quite often. It's really embarrassing and quite pathetic that they don't even know better. I figure it wasn't misspelled....it was stupidity. The "w" and "l" keys are not next to each other on the computer, you know...had to be intentional!

Jeans are acceptable. I have never seen a Wise County Judge berate a potential juror over dress. Cover up the parts of your body with clothing that most normal people cover up and you should be o.k..

You're sounding very biblical today Barry.

We had hail the size of hail and then it just rained like hail.

I just got the hail out of there and rain home.

Anonymous said...

We had pea sized hail and hard rain....don't think that 50mph wind made it though. Oh, and I am off 1810 between Decatur and Chico.

I spent the short storm in a class full of high school freshmen feeling quite smug that I'd just read the tornado procedures the day before and, should a twister hit the school, I could totally save them because I somehow managed to retain the information for 24 full hours.
