Wow

I always heard this guy was a jerk off the field, but no one deserves that. Link. (Although it has basically no information.) Edit @ 5:05 pm: Some reports are saying "suicide" by gun fire. Oh, my.

I met the guy on several occassions and he was nothing but nice. I even approached him in Tractor Supply in Burleson; it was like you ran into an old friend.

I do not know where you got your "info" but Jay is a personal friend of mine thru the cutting horse industry and has shown horses in the amateur against my wife and girls several times. He is never anything but very nice. Will help any charity he can for free, etc... Have seen him in action too many times. His wife cut hair for several years, even after they married.

You have your players mixed up or something.

My husband has met both of them on many occasions and he said she was very nice and Jay has been nothing but nice when he talked to him or ran into him on the street. He is a nice guy so hold your opinions please until we find out what happened.

He's also done a few charity events there in Baryville...I mean Bridgeport...for the Chamber of Commerce. Very sad day for he and his family regardless of what the cause is.

Great guy, and a sweet wife and daughter! Big loss!

Our son went to the Jay Novecek Football camp and the Emmitt Smith Football Camp.

Emmitt was hardly there all week at his camp. Jay was there everyday, coaching, interacting with the kids - seemed to be a great guy. He would talk to anyone and appear to be interested. No big ego. I don't know him personally but I sure appreciated the way he treated all the boys at camp - he appeared to be a great role model.

God, how awful. Bothersome thing about these deals though- she's dead and 3 of the 5 paragraghs of non info are about him. Yes I know-"He's famous!" and I think everyone else does also.

Spouses like this had a history- a life and that gets forgotten. Would have taken a reporter 30 minutes to do better and do her life some justice.

I have an uncle that has done mucho hunting with Jay over the years. He had nothing but good things to say about him.

Me thinks his rep is much ado about nothing.

I've never known him to be rude or unkind. However, Daryl Johnston that is a much different story. He was very much an @SS off the field.

I used to follow Jay all the time when he was with the Cowboys. Always appeared to be a great fellow. Hopefully you have him confused with some other play. Our thoughts are with Jay and family during this loss. How sad!

I could be wrong, but I think this is wife #2. I'm pretty sure that wife #1 was his old high school sweetheart, nice but not great looking. This woman (RIP) looks like she was a saint.

4:25---you beat me to the punch! She's the one who died, not him!

i have not been in touch with jay in about 10 years, but i played football with him at wyoming and he was a classact then and even his first 3 years in the nfl before we lost touch.
as the poster above said, he also worked his tail off at his summer football camps and was all about the kids.
sad day for one of the good guys.

aahhh 4:54, You are absolutely correct!! Daryl Johnson is a major @$$hole. Very much a snot, rude, arrogant, inconsiderate, turd. I wouldn't pee on the guy if he was on fire. He could have learned a lot from Novachek.

Insert foot in mouth Barry! I've heard your an A@#hole inside and outside the courtroom.

I taught LeAnn when she was a senior in high school She was beautiful inside and outside. She was always friendly after she married Jay. Maybe, she took her life at her mother's home to save her daughter from dealing with the aftermath if she killed herself at their home. She must have been in a lot of personal pain. By the way, I've always heard that Jay was a really nice guy to the public.

I went to his website and his pitch or motto is "Tackle Problems Before They Tackle You"

I met Jay a couple of times, nothing but nice. So sorry for him and his family.
