We've Got Courthouse Protesters!

There's about eight of them. Other signs say, "Uphold the Constitution" and "You are only as good as your word." What's it mean? I have no idea. Which is normally the sign of a bad protest. I'm on it.

Also the sign of a bad protest: misspelled words

Oh NO !!!! Demonstrations in Newark by Red Neck Trailer Trash and now more civil unrest that want politicians who will tell the truth and put it in writing? Unheard off and I hope they call in the local and state authorities. Police dogs, Taser guns and water cannons !!! Were is that damn rebel flag they hung at the court house last summer?

Is this the Newark boat ramp protest?

Anonymous said...

I wonder if they took the locks off the court house like they did in Newark and dump them on the desk of the new county commissioners? Now THAT would be the best! I can picture the county judge hiding under his desk again :)

Since when did the KKK start wearing blue sheets? Must be from Newark or Greenwood.

Would someone actually care enough to go over and personally ask one of these people what they are doing? Now that's an idea!

"What's it mean?"

WTF??? Not even ghetto gangstas throw down "what is it mean" or "what has it mean." I understand Bridgeport High letting Barry slide by with sub-par grammar skills but would've never guessed Baylor had such low standards.

If these are the same people that demonstrated in Newark. The county just built them a 50 thousand dollar public boat ramp and park in Newark for their use. Nothing like liberal weenies picketing under the entitlement mentality that the county owes them. Case closed.

these are the people who live in a newark neighbor hood that think our tax dollars should pay for and maintain the private boat ramp in their neighborhood, I bet they would have something to say if all the people in wise county pulled their boats to that "public ramp" and blocked the roads with their trailers. the county locked the ramps and charged these people 75 dollars for a key, that is a small price to pay for the privacy of their own county maintained boat ramp.

I despise people who think they are always owed something.

AND....the 75.00 was a one time fee good for three years. Do these people think they live in Southlake? Newark Beach Estates is an old name for what once was....very few 'estates' in the area...over the years, this area has now been taken over with nothing more than run down mobile homes...the only solid homes are those that are on the water front - Unincorporated Wise County....these residents do not live in Newark.

Even though does is an interrogative part of speech, rather than a form of the verb to be, colloquially it may be contracted as what's.

So, "What's it mean?" in this instance translates to "What does it mean," not "What is it mean."

First of All... In order for it to be a successful protest, Doesn't the public have to know what it is they are protesting?

Keeping in mind we still don’t know what they are asking for, if they are the Newark Protestors from last week, why would they think that the public would support them?

I can think of at least 20 other worth while causes to protest in and around Wise County that benefit us all.

I believe everybody assumed that he meant "what does". Are ghetto gangstas now the yardstick for proper grammar? If so, then...U betta recognize!

The bigger concern here is that the protesters had a sign made up - not handwritten - that has the word "your" when it should have been "you're".
If YOU'RE protesting something - in public - and want to get YOUR point across, it would help to spell all the words correctly.

Besides, if you want to complain about BG's grammar, you could have mentioned that in the first sentence, he used "there's (there is, singular) when the subject (them) is plural

What's it mean = what DOES it mean

apostroph can stand for more than one missing letter.

You're welcome.

8 to 12 protesters wanting free entitlement and 48793 thousand tax payers paying for it. I have been a lifelong resident and know for a fact that our elected county officials will do the right thing and close those down and tell them to use the NEW 50 thousand dollar FREE "open to the public" boat ramp. We want that money spent on something that benefits ALL taxpayers.

so did we ever find out what this protest is all about??? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!!

Residents of Newark Beach Estates braved a downpour this morning and marched around the Wise County Courthouse with signs, hoping to send a message to county commissioners.

But there was one problem – commissioners did not meet today.

Last Monday residents staged a demonstration and cut the locks off all the gates at the public boat ramps in their neighborhood. They then presented them to interim Precinct 3 commissioner Glenn Hughes. By Monday afternoon, Hughes sent county employees to remove the gates.

Although the residents were happy with Hughes’ decision, they said they want to make sure commissioners put it in writing that the boat ramps are to remain open.

One resident said their soggy march was good practice for next week. They plan to come back and stage another demonstration prior to the 9 a.m. commissioners’ meeting Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Next week’s meeting is scheduled for Tuesday due to the President’s Day holiday Monday. Read more about the boat ramp gates in Newark Beach Estates in the Feb. 4 edition of the Wise County Messenger.

If someone is going to print an official sign with only seven words...my gosh at least spell correctly.

Sure it isn't the Tea Party crowd?

Questions:
1) If the right to use the boatramps were deeded to property owners in Newark Beach Estates, did the developer agree to maintain the ramps into eternity?
2) How and when did the county gain title to the boatramps?
3) If the county taxpayers are paying to keep the ramps maintained like the public ramps at Wise County Park on Lake Bridgeport, why are the ramps not considered public for use by not only Newark Beach Estates, but everyone who wants to use them?
4) Private only boat ramps in a subdivision should not be maintained by county tax dollars. The developer should access property owners and required usage fees should maintain the ramps like in Lakevue Estates on Lake Bridgeport.
5) And is anyone sure these are not TEA party protestors?

At least something is going on in the county to resolve problems.
Taking of private property is wrong; however, maintaining private property is taxation without representation. (I just made that up)

I have a sister that thinks she is always owed something too. and the word spelled wrong on the sign drove me crazy too. maybe we should all take $75.00 and get ourselves a key and put our boats there too. This county has some really backward folks

Heard police were called to a pee wee basketball game Saturday between Bridgeport and Boyd ?????????

Does anyone think our county commissioners have the intelligence to do the right thing and close those dirt roads down? (That’s what they are between people’s homes.)

This is a political hot potato and the men we have in there now can put an end to it forever! Over 60 years of fighting and wasted tax money stopped.

One year they want ramps, next year not. De-annex and let Tarrant have them.
As the joke goes since 1988....Everytime Tarrant takes a flush another fine piece floats up in Newark.

County commissioners should give back the boat ramps to the property owners in Newark Beach (haha) Estates and let the property owners figure it out. They can have fundraisers and appoint a committee. It is obvious they can organize protests, so they should be able to figure out how to manage some boat ramps.

The county could vote to reverse whatever agreement they had in the past.

Either the boat ramps are public or they are private. A hybrid arrangement has proven not to work.

Taxpayers don't need the extra expense of boat ramps that benefit only a few.

County Tax Payer said...

if the commissioners vote to continue to use our tax dollars to maintain these private ramps. then we should vote them out of office 3 of the 4 commissioner places are up for re-election this year.
