Why can't we have all the light working on the sting of lights? That bugs me. I pay the extra dollar a month on my water bill for the the Main Street Fund and why is it ever year the lights always look like this? I don't understand the problem. The red did look better.
The red lights to the courthouse did look better. However, the BEST ones were about 45 years ago, when they were multicolored - yellow, red, green, white, blue. They were AWESOME strung not only to the courthouse, but they also ran down each street about a block. One felt like they were truly under a lighted tent! I wish the town would do that again. However, I believe they went to the all red lights because according to some scientific study, the red ones could be seen from a further distance. That's what they wanted.
You should know that your $1.00/month is NOT going towards labor to put up the Christmas lights. I've watched them the last 2 years and they do it early on a Sunday morning and use inmates from the jail! Maybe the inmates purposely break/remove lights to spell out a code that can be seen far away: "Put a file in the cake you bake me"
The carbon footprint created by this wasteful tradition is just one more nail in our globally warm coffin.
Obama said the IPCC has asked him to donate those lights to starving children in Africa before the ocean rises 23 ft and washes up a bunch of fish and bread and stuff
The fact is nobody in this country is very serious about conserving energy or carbon emissions. I know I'm not. Judging by all the x-mas lights, SUV's, McMansions, etc, we continue to live largely, as affluent, free people are wont to do.
Why, then, is that joke of a president running around promising the world we are gonna make amends? We aren't really gonna do that and he doesn't really represent us. Neither do Reid, Pelosi, and all those democratic demagogues.
Is there any chance we might wake up and do something about this before it's too late?
Lo-ward have mercy, that's a beautiful courthouse. It kinda makes my cold, cold heart feel warm and fuzzy about your Christian holiday...I still don't think that virgin birth thing really happened, but still, you people ain't so bad...and I loves me some Christmas lights. Bravo. Post more photos.
I think the Wise County Courthouse is the prettiest one in the state.
J. Riley Gordon, the designer, did several others in Texas, using a similar design, but this one tops them all. A historical treasure for all of Wise County and certainly a gem for the townspeople of Decatur!!
I gave a great idea,,, why don't a few of you blood sucking lawyers who extort so much money from Wise County citizens while making use of this tax payer supported facility pool a few dollars and decorate your house.
TO;______Pfffffffffttttt 5:56 Went on ahead and did one for you, are you happy now?? FYI, I am also totally authorized, qualified and licensed to operate black choppers!!! Also, FYI, there is one stationed in Wise County at a private location!!

Uncle Fester
Has Wise County printed any forms to become a right wing Christian conservative extremist yet?
Beautiful!
We have a beautiful courthouse, just with they would buy some new lights that they run to the top of it.
Where's the Menorah?
We do have a beautiful Courthouse, too bad we can't have some new lights. They have been doing the same sad strings for about 40 years that I know of.
Maybe Decatur Main Street could do something about that.
Great! Another fake picture.
I think they have got new lights a couple of years ago. Remember they used to be red and looked better!!
The Menorah in is the Basement next to the Womenorah.
I think the lights look just fine. The courthouse is so pretty and the lights are a festive tradition. You folks would complain about most anything!
Could they fill in the gaps? Replace the bad lights before they put them up.
Actually Decatur has some neat lights. Worth the time to drive around thu some of the subdivisions.

Oh my goodness.....
Is this a Christian Holiday being promoted by the government?
What has this world come to?
HELP!
Lord! It wouldn't be a normal day in Wise County if everyone had something positive to say or nothing at all.
