Very cool.

The right wing babblers like to claim Obama is viewed as a lightweight or scorned by foreign leaders and citizens. Well, this would seem to cast serious doubt on that position.

But rest assured that Rush, Glenn, Sean and the other foxes will find fault with this award.

Anonymous said...

Aside from being "cool," can any Obama sycophants honestly believe he deserves this award?

I'm disgusted.

What happened to the seal of the president of the US? Changed.

The man has yet to do anything and he is being rewarded!!! Actions should be recognized and rewarded, not words. This what is wrong with much of America. We expect to rewarded without doing the hard work or showing results.

the part he deleted was...."FAKE Humbled" and the "BUT I DESERVE IT"

Obama can give a good voice job on peace etc. He should be his own 900 number.

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said in a statement.

"Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party," the statement also said. "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it's an embarrassing label to claim.”

All of you bloggers are lame! Bush wouldn't even know how to spell "Nobel Peace Prize".

Congratulations President Obama! You make us proud to be Americans!

Anonymous said...

Carter and Gore got one too so that tells you how prestigious that award has become.

Anonymous said...

RUMOR HAS IT, IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING NOTIFIED HE'D WON, HE SAID...."DAMMMNNNNN.....I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR ANY DRAWING!"

Anonymous said...

Good thing he reached out to the muslims, bowed to that dude that was wearing pajamas, and apologized for 200 plus years of American interference.

Total douchebag and he is going to break every single one of us.

Anonymous said...

I think Obama himself said this more of an endorsement of his beliefs then a reward of his actions.

I also think it sends a very loud message – words do matter. Peaceful word matter…. Hateful words matter… its called diplomacy and its good to see that the US is back in that business.

Everyone has complained that the US has had to fight many of our battles alone – well look back at our prior president and it obvious that there was not desire to buy into his words….or deeds.

Anonymous said...

George W. Bush launched a “preemptive” war. Now the Nobel Committee is trying for “preemptive” peace.

Some of you guys reveal too much of your bias.

I don't know who else was in the running.

The list of what he has done plus what he has/is attempting is refreshing considering his predecessor.

Just the absence of the cowboy rehetoric is worth something.

The deadline for nominations for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was February 1, 2009. The only thing Obama had accomplished by February 1, 2009 was winning the presidential election in Nov. 2008 and being inaugurated as POTUS in Jan. 2009. Hmmmm.....Based on Obama's accomplishments as POTUS every U.S. POTUS prior to Obama should have been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. Obviously, the mere act of Obama wanting to DO something is far more valuable and prize worthy, to the Nobel Prize Organization, than the actual accomplishments of people who have affected a positive change for peace.

To be honest, the Nobel Peace Prize has not meant spit to me since the Nobel Prize Organization awarded the Peace Prize, in 1994, to life long terrorist, Yasser Arafat. Arafat was chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization since 1959 and continued as chairman of that terrorist organization until his death in 2004.

Keep in mind, in 1939, Adolf Hitler was nominated for the Peace Prize.

Anonymous said...

I'm wondering about the libs comments on this award being a reaction to Bush and now the "world" likes us again. I wonder if any of you recall Churchill being ostracized for his anti-Hitler rhetoric or FDR being called a "war-monger" for the Lend-Lease program. Neville Chamberlain didn't win the Peace Prize, as it became obvious appeasement wouldn't produce peace. Will appeasement work now?

Who cares, this changes nothing in our country or in the world. So what, our President won an award that really doesn't count for anything. I would have thought the same if Bush had won it. It is like getting honarable mention at the Special Olympics, only slightly better since you get money.

The Repubs are going to continue to show their ass by spouting against it,and the Dems are going to continue to show their ass just because they are so good at it. Note to the Dems, you won, you are in charge, shut the f up already and let your enemy be their own worst enemy.

One accomplishment on climate change Obama that earned him $1.4 million and the Nobel Peace Prize was the Cash for Clunkers program that helped reduce carbon therefore saving the planet. Now how the 5 member committee can ad climate change to the Peace Prize, we may not understand.

Cash for Clunkers is his accomplishment and since we taxpayers paid for it, he should share the money with all of us or pay down the debt.

Hold on there, hotshot. Before you go around the bend to Haterville, stop and THINK. The reason I listed the fact Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize after I listed the fact Arafat received the Nobel Peace Price was to illustrate the fact that for decades even the worst of leaders have been nominated and even received the Nobel Peace Prize. You do realize, I did not concoct a scheme to assure that Obama shares something in common with Hitler and personally arranged for Obama to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, right? Obama and Hitler both being nominated for the NPP is NOT my fault.

If you do not like the facts, regarding the Nobel Peace Prize, forever resulting in Obama and Hitler sharing a place on the list of NPP nominees, just ignore the facts and me and hopefully you will be much happier. After-all, Thomas Gray did say, "ignorance is bliss." Hopefully, it will work out for you better than it does for most people.

It is a sad day when posting FACTS results in ruffling the feathers and offends the tender sensibilities of random people.

Whew! My meds have kicked in and I've calmed down from my earlier post. BTW, I've found the generic for Prozac to be just as effective as the name brand! Anyway...

Per Mzchief's comment on Hitler being nominated: I grabbed the text below from Wikipedia. One dude was responsible for nominating Hitler, and he retracted the nomination a few days later. Other infamous nominees included Stalin and Mussolini; certainly not people that any of us want to be associated with.

While it is certainly a fact that all these bad dudes where nominated, none of them actually won. One person with an axe to grind could nominate anyone. It's a whole different matter if that person wins the award.

For the third time today, I'll say that Obama didn't deserve to win. You should win for what you've accomplished, not what you talk about accomplishing.

But 'fess up folks: if Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul won the award, 90% of you would be singing a different song. Since Carter, Gore, Paul Krugman, and now Obama have won a Nobel Prize, all red-staters will now consider the award as bogus.

========
Over time many individuals have become known as "Nobel Peace Prize Nominees", but this designation has no official standing.[7] Nominations from 1901 to 1955, however, have been released in a database.[8] When the past nominations were released it was discovered that Adolf Hitler was nominated in 1939 by Erik Brandt, a member of the Swedish Parliament. Brandt retracted the nomination after a few days.[9] Other infamous nominees included Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini. However, since nomination requires only support from one qualified person, all nominations do not necessarily represent the opinion of the Nobel committee itself.

Even the head of the Nobel committee admitted they awarded it to encourage, rather than for any accomplishment; i.e., a political endorsement.
Let's see if they make him give it back when Obama's decisions escalate the war in Afghanistan, increase the chance for nuclear strikes by Iran, and encourage Russian military aggression. (Well, of course it won't matter. With Liberals and Nobel Peace Prize committees, intentions are more important than results. Mahatma Gandhi never won the Peace prize.)

Obama is skinny, worthless non-leading idealistic wordsmith, that has not done a honest days work in his life. I wouldnt follow him across the street, much less into battle defending this nation or our constitution. He has pandered to those that will listen and shunned those that wouldnt, and he is on the path to weaken this nation and bring in socialism to a struggling economy and struggling nation. I despise the man, and wonder where he will be when the SH** hits the fan and words wont hold off poverty and the enemy any more. For those who say "you are a right wing, Fox watching Republican", you are exactly right. I am a free man that desires to look after my family, my freedom and my business, but the difference in me and Obama, I will pick up a gun to defend what I believe in. That wont win me a Nobel Peace Prize, but apparently kissing everyone elses a** will.

TO anonymous 4:30...
You really need a better source than Wiki and I will provide it for you...However, you are correct, ANYONE who receives, from the Nobel Committees, an invitation to nominate someone, can nominate any bozo they endorse. The point I made was ANYONE can be nominated. It was only after much pressure that Hitler's nomination was retracted by E.G.C. Brandt, the member of the Swedish parliament who nominated Hitler in 1939. Not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize after being nominated is not an indication that someone is unworthy. Even though, Mahatma Gandhi was an all around good guy and globally known as the poster child for non-violence and was nominated for the Peace Prize in 1937, 1938, 1939, 1947 and 1948, Gandhi was never awarded the Peace Prize. Imagine that, Obama gets the Peace Prize in 12 days but Gandhi was denied 5 times for a lifetime of seeking peace. The Nobel Organization's snubbing of Mahatma Gandhi...THE MAHATMA GANDHI further proves the point that the Nobel Peace Prize has, for decades, been relegated to being nothing more than a politicized hand job from a liberal organization to liberals they believe will/have furthered the liberal agenda.

Incidentally, I believe Carter was a good choice for the Peace Prize. Carter used his notoriety as a past POTUS to bring, to the world's attention, the global problem of homelessness of working/low income people and actually became personally involved in establishing a global organization that provides homes for the working segment of the homeless.

Gingrich and Paul are equally as undeserving of the Peace Prize as Obama. Gingrich is just as much a partisan politico whore as is Obama and Paul is a raving maniac.

You must be new. I am not a Republican. I am a Libertarian/Constitutionalist. I believe in a person's individual right to self determination. I do not believe the government has the right to dictate the standard of living to which anyone is entitled. I believe in a woman's right to make any and all medical choices. I think weed should be legalized and TAXED! TAXED! TAXED! and TAXED! and the taxes/tariffs on cigarettes and alcohol should be increased 10xs. Anyone under the influence of ANYTHING, while in public, should be required to perform 10 hours of public service every week for 6 months. I believe consenting adults should have the right to marry any other consenting adult. It really is none of my business what consenting adults do with their naughty bits in a private setting. I believe the U.S. government should only provide any type of subsidy for ONLY one child per family. What do you bet that would cut down on a woman having a litter of children for which she cannot care? I believe there should be a VALID guest worker's program for the currently employed, non-criminal illegal aliens. There should be NO such thing as an anchor baby. EVERYONE regardless of their income should be required to pay income tax. Currently, 36% of all income tax returns pay NO taxes and the bottom 50% of taxpayers only pay 3.% of ALL federal personal income tax. People who will never be expected to pay for benefits will ALWAYS vote for and accept benefits. I believe the death penalty is uncivilized, morally/ethically wrong and has proved NOT to be a deterrent to violent crime.

I am what would be described as socially VERY LIBERAL and fiscally, VERY conservative. I believe, when required to, humans can achieve extraordinary things. I also believe, if NOTHING is required of someone, they will achieve NOTHING and that is a disservice to them and the society in which they live.

It is a far cry from being nominated (as in 204) this year and being selected.

It is a fact Obama didn't seek this. It simply reflects Europe's
appreciation for a new atmosphere in Washington.

Bottom line, you are in the same catagory as Beck, O'Riely, and Rush

..and all who are making such comments about our President receiving the Nobel Peace Price and not deserving it, are just contributing to the bad attitude that some countries feel about Americans.

And in many countries, such comments about a leader would NOT be tolerated and folks would be jailed.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the post Mzchief. I'd seen several posts from you on things you were against. I appreciate that you gave a thoughtful comment on the things you are for. I'm in agreement with 80%-90% of your beliefs.

I probably believe than you do that govt should play a more active role in helping the less fortunate. And we may have some differences on taxation. But we have more in common than not. Which is probably true of all political factions on this post.

We've been trained to focus on the differences between parties, even when those differences are often inconsequential considering the major issues facing this country.

What gets to me pissed off (besides the racist comments) is the automatic reflexive action from Republicans to automatically be against anything Obama is for.

But I've been taking these comments way to seriously. A lot of comments are made just to get a reaction; and like a dummy, I react by posting the nastiest comments I can think of at the moment. So, until such time as I'm allowed to smoke hash at the office, I'm going to avoid the Comments section of this blog. I'll still be checking out the photos, of course!

I'm very thankful they've stopped using the race card. The newest trump, the terrorist card, won't last long since the President supports the Taliban and sympathizes with terrorist groups.

I find it a huge coincidence that Al Gore, former Nobel prize winner, just brokered a $529 million loan from the U.S to a Swedish car company a few weeks ago. I'm sure they have no influence on peace prize recipients.

Anonymous said...

Denny Crane you idiot, It's the Norwegians not the Swedes that award the Nobel Prize. Your assignment, get a globe and study it.

Denney Crane said...

9:24 PM,

I am well aware who awards the Nobel Peace Prize as evident by my Twitter post several days ago. You are welcome to see it for yourself.

http://twitter.com/#search?q=denneycrane

I stand by my original staement, "I'm sure they have no influence on peace prize recipients."

Now you may want to get out your globe, history book and Nobel Peace Prize committee membership list and research these people, places and their previous actions. You, as many other analysts world-wide, may question the motives of their decisions as well.

If you're into name calling, then I think you just have a personal problem and I'll pray for you and that God will grant you peace of mind. Obviously, it will help since you lack the ability to formulate opinion unless it comes from Wikipedia.

Hope you are getting more sleep in Rhome...

Anonymous said...

Actually I've never slept in Rhome, I don't tweet, and I've been forming my own opinions for
65 years.
You are right, Swedish car makers have no influence on peace prize choices. I apologize about the globe remark, maybe you should start with a wise County map and work your way up.

Denney Crane said...

No, but Swedish car makers are not bound by the same laws as American companies, so they can donate any amount of money to anyone they choose without fear of breaking American laws.

Just keep drawing your government check, I hope it grows; along with your Medicare benefits.
