Press Release: Shocking Boyd News

September 20, 2009 at approximately 6:15p.m. Boyd Police responded to a welfare concern at 457 W. Rock Island, Trinity Baptist Church parsonage. The caller notified Wise County Communications Officers that they were attempting to get in touch with Pastor Robert Worley and his wife Jerry, after they did not show up for evening church service. The caller reported that they had knocked on all the doors, and that they could hear something running inside the garage, possibly a vehicle. Boyd Police Officer Vince Estel was able to make entry with a key to the residence. Estel immediately smelled the odor of vehicle exhaust and discovered a female in the living room area. With assistance from Boyd Fire Department searching the residence, a male victim was located in a back bedroom. CPR was administered to both the male and the female victims at the scene, and were subsequently transported to Wise Regional Hospital in Decatur, by Wise County EMS. The male victim identified as Pastor Robert Worley was pronounced dead at the hospital. Worley’s wife, Jerry, was flown by LifeStar Air Ambulance to Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth. Although there were no signs of foul play, the investigation continues as a questionable death. Assisting in the investigation with Boyd Police, are the Texas Rangers, and the Wise County Sheriff’s Office. Edit: Channel 11 has a little bit more info, but not much.

Wow! That is such a tragedy! My family and I will be praying for the recovery of Jerry and for peace and comfort for their family! Also, I will be in prayer for the Trinity Baptist Church family. It will be a tough road ahead for that church. I hope our communtiy (and this blog) can show some love and support to them during this time!

That is really sad. I agree with 8:41 - surely we can have some compassion for all.

Anonymous said...

I agree that it is sad, but I have issues with interfering with people trying to commit suicide. If someone wants to die, that should be their right. I think to perform heroics and force someone who wanted to die to live is grossly cruel.

I wonder if it was one of the new remote start options that got pushed by accident?

9:07 - it does sound suspicious, but how do YOU know it was attempted suicide (for sure).....

...we must wait for that one.

Whatever, it is awful for their families, friends and church family.

Just awful.

9:07-Do you know that they were trying to commit suicide? If that was the case then did YOU know that they were going to do that? If so then you are absolutely cruel for not saying anything to get them help!!!

I think that this is truly sad and that there should not be any horrible things mentioned on this post (but I know that there are insensitive people that will get the joys by doing so.) I think we all need to pray for the recovery of Jerry and pray for peace and love in the family and church. My deepest sympathy goes out to each of them.

Prayers also go to the PD, medics and all those that worked to rescue them.

Times are tuff in Obammy World. In his health care plan, this type of behavior is encouraged.

Correct, in this case we aren't sure what their intentions are, so I can see the point you are making, 9:29 and 9:39. I just always cringe when I hear that someone cut their wrist or tried some other kind of overt suicide measure and the family or other interventionist comes in and tries to save the day by forcing them to live. I guess if you really want to do it, better make sure you do it completely and where no one will mess up your attempt. Sorry for the family here, though.

9:55, You are a stupid Jackass. Too bad that fate doesn't fall upon you!

Anonymous said...

Barry, if you personally know some of these insensitive posters, I feel sorry for you.

God "called" him home

9:55, you pea brain. This has NOTHING to do with Obama.

9:55 I second 10:08's comment. You ARE a stupid Jackass. It was your president that left his mess in the floor for Obammy (as you stupidly call our president)to clean up.
Yeah, times are tough but it was your guy that got us here and our guy that is doing his best to lead us out of it.
Look it up, your guy worked 6 hours a day and our guy is working 12. Your guy took 3 vacations during his first 8 months in office and our guy has taken one.
I would bet that you have inherited money that you never worked for and that is the reason that you have such an ugly attitude.

Under my president, the unemployment rate never got over 6 per cent. How is your president doing in that department?

Anonymous said...

Mzchief, you're a TARD no matter what.

Anonymous said...

Ridiculous that this has been turned into a political discussion again. What's wrong with you people?

I am so sorry for the family and the church. I hope the wife will be ok. My granddaughter will be very upset as she really liked the pastor there.

9:55 It's time to start re-evaluating your life.

11:44, Thanks for being my life coach. You should turn it into a career when you lose your job under Obammy.

Anonymous said...

obama is the dumbest excuse of a president. He is good for nothin but more trouble in the country

Anonymous said...

Absolutely an accident, No way its a suicide attempt.

Anonymous said...

For those so quick to scream "suicide attempt" my elderly father who is usually very alert forgot and left his vehicle running once. Scared the bejezus out of me.

Anonymous said...

Yeah we got Obammy you were expecting Abe Lincoln??

Can we wonder why Barry doesn't delete some of these stupid posts?

Politics has NO place in such a tragic situation.

12:03 - shut up.

Anonymous said...

He leaves them up to show you how ignorant these people really are.

I get so very sick and tired of the folks who bring politics into everything. There are many things in life which have NOTHING to do with politics, and many of us really don't care so much! Get over yourselves and talk about something else for a change!

Why do you think this couldn't have been a suicide attempt? How would an accident happen like this? Makes no sense.

Did they both have headphones on listening to Blizzard of Ozz cassette?

These poor folks were in their 70's. They could have gone to get groceries and forgot to turn the engine off while unloading the car. You don't know that this was anything but a horrific accident. You people are all gossipmongers. Shame on any of you that said it was suicide or mentioned polotics. Have some compassion for petes sake. Shut up.
At times like these we should be praying for the friends, family and church that these wonderful people were a part of.

I read something today that mentioned over 35 million people people world-wide are suffering from dementia........perhaps one of them suffered undiagnosed Alzheimer's disease. Maybe they carried some groceries into the house, left the running car in the garage and forgot to turn it off.

But then, not long ago, the Ringgold, Texas Baptist Church pastor and his wife committed suicide by train.........

Anonymous said...

From one "in the know"--It looks like it was an unfortunate accident. She was known to be forgetful, and to have left the vehicle running after parking it at least one time before. He probably went to the bedroom to take a nap, and in his sleep, didn't smell it when the exhaust fumes brought in enough carbon monoxide to become lethal. She may also have not noticed it, and may just felt sick with flu-like symptoms and sat down in the living room. That's where they were found. There seems to be no indication of suicide or homicide. Yes, people often commit suicide by leaving a car running, but the circumstances in this case point only to a tragic accident.

All the more reason I turned my garage into another living space, have a carport not connected to the house, and a big garage with no doors, a barn like thing away from the house as well.....auto asphyxiation can't happen here.

Anonymous said...

Were Drugs or Alcohol involved?

Anonymous said...

2:56, You still perform erotica asphyxiation on yourself at your house though don't you?

Only on Sunday afternoons, 3:06PM

Story up on Ch 11 web site with details.

Anonymous said...

It's all because of the nudist Baptist Church in Tyler.

Anonymous said...

All politics aside, we have lost one of our spiritual leaders in our community. We need to pray for their immedaite family and their church family, so sad.

I know this is a blog and some comments are meant to be tongue in cheek.

This tragic situation doesn't deserve the sarcasm that some have posted on here. I've personnaly had to deal with dementia in a family member and seen the devastating effects it has on a family. the unexpected will and can happen.

I sincerely hope there are more caring individuals in our world than some of those who have posted comments here.

I tried to build a house once and all the walls were crooked,I think my Dementia's were off.

You people are sick and twisted. You will all have to answer for all your insensitivity at some point. I honestly feel sorry for your family. I am sure that you don't have any friends with the kind of people that you are. You are just EVIL.
God Bless this sweet family.
