Live from courthouse in ongoing sexual assault case

Closing arguments (as seen from gallery and with a very rough
transcribed summary):

Prosecutor:
- we are judged how we protect our children
- punishment for punishment's sake is sometimes appropriate

Defense
- you promised me you would consider the full range of punishment
including probation
- probation is not a slap on the hand
- you heard what's involved including GPS ankle bracelet
- it can go on up to 10 years
- if he violates his probation he goes to prison. No jury. Just the
judge
- he will have to register as sex offender and he has a felony
conviction
- he had no criminal history whatsoever
- no evidence that there are any other victims
- he will live 2,500 miles from victim
- has a child in college andnow divorced and two others. As sex
offender he will not be able to go to their activities
- he would be able to pay child support
- many witnesses said he was a good man
- he made a serious mistake
- this act was one of sickness. Probation will require counseling to
overcome this sickness
- have we come to the point of throwing sick people in jail
- you heard how many people he has helped in his life
- we ask you for probation and this the verdict form you would use
- we thank you

Prosecutor rebuttal:
- you are the ones to tell us what we are to do with these people
- nice guy? He was a nice guy to victim before abuse
- this is a 51 year old man and preyed on young girl
- he stole her innocence
- if it is not about the child then it's about nothing
- I wlll not ask for life in prison but Wise County demands at least
50 years
- make her misery and pain mean something

Send his ass back to the country he came from so I don't have to pay to keep this slimeball in prison!

This being the bleeding heart liberal county of Wise. I would think they would go for 25 years and he should thank his lucky stars thats all he got. Child Molester's get no pity.

I'll decide.......Put him away so he won't harm any other innocent child...... What if it was your child that was molested by a 51 year old man????

not a difficult decision at all....child molestation deserves prison time...only liberal bed wetting crybaby dogooders find more compassion for criminals than victims...screw em.

I must have missed this part in the bible---

And then Jesus said...
"Let us put all of our sick people in prison and forget about them. Let's do absolutely nothing to rehabilitate them and make them productive members of society. For I have told you many times that my message is one of wrath and vengeance, not compassion."

As a mother dealing for 10 years with a child sexually abused by a relative of my child at 6.....it is an easy decision for me. Castrate and return to society. I don't have to pay for his incarnation...rehabilitation is limited at best for this illness.
While therapy, drug addiction, and other issues are much higher for the victim....it limits the victims and provides parents like me with a small amount of satisfaction. Thousands of dollars in therapy, fears and anxiety abound.....for the victim.
For the sociopath that abuses the victims I have no sympathy!

I think the prosecutor made some good points, but did this man think about what he was doing to this child when he abused her sexually? He likely ruined this little girl for life.

Having served on a jury once for a crime of this nature, I can tell you it was gut wrenching and to hear all the graphic details of it was dispicable. It is difficult for juries for sure.

Whatever the punishment, the man MUST be kept away from children. He can't ever again be trusted.

Not to me. I'd like to see "I sexually abused a child" tatooed on his forehead.

Send his ass to jail!

Allowing a child molestor to be on probation is just allowing another innocent child to become a victim. Anyone who is so sick to molest a child cannot be rehabilitated unless they cut it off. Let him serve his time in jail and be punished for what he did. Protecting our children is our responsibility as a community and child molestors need to get that in Wise County!

Why is he in this country?

What would he recieve had he been in his country of origin?

Hang him.

3:37 - I agree with you. Probation? Probation departments are way too busy to keep a proper check on these folks.

Some professionals think sexual offences toward children are about "power" and "control" Well, well, so power and control are found in the tongue, fingers and penis? Really?

I wish probation wasn't even a lawful option for sex crimes against children.

Is there any creep factor to posting yet another picture of a near-naked female after this post?

All the librul bedwetters need to sign up as foster parents for offenders like these that they think should get probation.

Brand him and return him to where he came from under death penalty if he ever returns, or give him 50 years with no possibility of parole if he makes it he won't be much of a threat at 100 +.

If they were in their native country they would stone the girl to death and he would have to give the father something like a donkey with straw baskets.DAGO

Great point, 3:45.

Put him in jail....inmates don't take kindly to child molesters!!!!

Why don't you liberal fools rehabilitate him in your home in the spare bedroom next to your kid's. It'll be cheaper for the govt that way and you can give him the love and understanding you think he deserves.

I observed at this trial. I had no idea whether he was guilty or not. After observing the whole trial, I am still not sure. Too, too many lies were told. I guess I am just old fashioned but, lie to me once, I will take the next thing you tell me with a grain of salt. Lie to me the second time, and I am just probably not going to believe you the third. And there were many more than 3 obvious lies. Being mixed up on the witness stand, I get that. But, you remember if your dad or your husband lived in another county for 10 months out of the year!!! As a mother, you remember when and how the outcry happened. As a child, you remember who you told and when. Not in this case. Mom said she had to draaaaag it out of the little girl on sunday afternoon. Little girl says she told her mom the very next day and when asked if her mom had to drag it out, she replied no!! Then, this was the one that made me sick. Mom told about how during the week after that sunday (or friday, which ever day the outcry was made) she had seen the accused one last time at the store where she worked. Lo and behold, I watched a video of Mom, the daughter and the accused at HIS nephews birthday party. (no relation to this mom).AAAAnd, in the video she is laughing in a playful manner with the accused!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE??
