Comment on Star telegram article authored by an idiot!

If it's true, after visiting the Bridgeport PD 3 times that morning clearly "out of his mind" and being told to leave and get back in his truck each time (which is unbelievable), involved in a hit and run and chased across the county, his love for the police was more than likely non-existant.

He was a threat to society each time the Bridgeport PD told him to get back in his truck.

Anonymous said...

How ironic is it that he ended up back in Bridgeport, where it all began.

Anonymous said...

Something is missing from this story. We hear York intentionally wanted to kill the officer in the patrol car. Was he targeting Officer White, was he targeting the Bridgeport Police or anyone in law enforcement? But the most important question is what motivated him to want to kill? Other than reports of meth use I have heard little that makes much sense.

Biff Tannen said...

That's funny, all the comments here are authored by idiots. Yes, I know that declaration includes me, you're so witty!

They have valid points. Just because everybody lives in a bubble out here and thinks that it will never happen to them, well guess what: it happened and the end result wasn't just losing your car. The DPS has put on campaigns for years to get yokels like you to lock your car, and it falls on deaf years. You'd rather continue on in your dysfunctional self-created world than be possibly inconvenienced for two seconds. I know it is difficult for your primitives to understand, but you don't even need your keys to unlock a car. The 20th century called, and wants its keyless entry back. There are even advanced technologies that allow you to start your car without keys! Wowie, wow, wow!

What makes it even more perfect is it was somebody with an 8000 pound vehicle that got stolen. "But I NEEED the space to carry my two chiiildreeen! I feel soooooo unsafe in anything less than 7000 pounds!"

Anonymous said...

we should hang this scrotbag in the courthouse lawn of course we should do this after a fair trial where he will be found guilty by a jury.

Anonymous said...

8:33 - and add to that - did York figure the jig was up and just wanted to kill himself too?

And that precious family will have to go through all the painful gory details during the trial.

Anonymous said...

What's even more more ridiculous, 8:34, is that we NEED to lock our cars. This vehicle that was stolen was on private property....So you blame it on somebody that had their vehicle unlocked when the were minding their own business on their piece of land?

Ignorant.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Tannen: While I agree that calling other commentors idiots is not appropriate, neither is judging those who live in the country and drive SUVs. In Wise County, when we get on the road, we are surrounded by huge, heavily loaded rock trucks, oilfield equipment trucks, water-hauling trucks, etc. All are 18-wheelers -- and a loaded rock truck can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. Many of us also make trips to the metroplex shopping for essentials because we don't have malls just down the street. We're not primitives nor or we soccer moms. Sometimes, we carry feed for livestock in the back of those SUVs, and at other times, bags of fertilizer, plants, farming equipment; or we may have all the essentials of a repair job on the house or some out-building.
None of these issues have any bearing on why a person hell-bent on this mission chose that vehicle.
Let's focus on the sadness and human frailty of the event. A once bright, happy boy grew into an angry man whose life was controlled by drugs. He killed a respected man in an honored profession. Yesterday, I signed a card for two members of the BP police department whom I see on a daily basis, telling them that they, their fellow officers, and the White family are in my continued prayers. What did you do to try to bring an sense of peace to those touched by this tragedy?

Mr. Mike Honcho said...

Biff T.

You sir, are an idiot. Your comment on the ST site was equally stupid.

The woman whose vehicle was stolen is not at fault in this accident.

The man who stole her private property from a private residence is at fault.

Get off your "Fat woman", SUV Hating, your a yokel and I am not, kick and shut up. People like you make hard times harder.

Mr. Mike Honcho

PS - The 21st century called, and it wants its tolerance and kindness back.

Anonymous said...

8:34, YOU are obviously one of the idiots people are talking about on here, YES! IS IT AGAINST THE LAW TO LEAVE ONES CAR UNLOCKED???? IS IT? NO, IT IS NOT!! So shut the hell up!

Can you NOT see that YORK is the ONLY one to blame here? He is a criminal and now is a murderer! And you want to get after someone who left her keys in her vehicle? And then add to it that she drives a vehicle that is too big???

Your credibilty is now extinguished, because YOU are a complete NUTCASE!!

Biff Tannen said...

Thanks for missing the point, 9:40am. It can happen anywhere.

Dale Brown said...

9:40AM, you're ridiculous. People use the argument to hoard guns that somebody, one day will come onto their property and invade their house and they need to defend themselves. When it rarely happens out here. Now, you want to apply some delicious cognitive dissonance that you shouldn't have to keep your keys out of the car. I can see leaving the doors unlocked, but the keys in the car?

Sounds like this True American(tm) that was minding their own business should have shot down this trespasser like every Wise Countian's dream.

I mean surely, a privacy-loving, Surburban-driving Wise County resident should have been able to gun this vicious criminal down, shouldn't they? Please tell me yes, all my dreams are being crushed here.

Bigwillie02 said...

Well I see that we're all back to our nice name calling blog. That kind-heartedness didn't last very long.

Good word 9:52. This is a tragedy for all families involved. The White family lost a dad, husband, son, brother, grandson and so did the York family. Praying peace over all who are involved.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Brown and Tannen,

The two of you must be "tree huggers" who live with rainbows over your perfect little abodes. Again, is it against the law to leave ones keys in their vehicle? NO, it is NOT!
The fact that the two of you have the unmittigated gall to even THINK you have a right to judge what other people drive shows how ignorant you both are.
Actually, the resident did have the right to protect their property. When a crazed man comes to your home, do you not have the right to protect your loved ones and property? Wonder how you would react....possibly invite him in for tea and crumpets?
It is obvious neither of you have an iota of sense!
Are you FROM Wise County? Do you know the people here? If not, then we really don't give a care for your ridiculous, "tree-hugging" opinions! Thank GOD people like you two are not citizens of our part of the country.

Anonymous said...

btw: My property is protected by my guns! That is a RIGHT in America.... it's called the second amendment. You meth heads (probably mr brown and tannen) better keep that in mind when you come snooping around my place!

Anonymous said...

While this doesn't apply to the women who's vehicle was stolen (it was on private property) I do see people leaving the vehicles running and/or unattended with keys in the ignition almost on a weekly basis.

Here's the law:

Sec. 545.404. UNATTENDED MOTOR VEHICLE. An operator may not leave the vehicle unattended without:

(1) stopping the engine;

(2) locking the ignition;

(3) removing the key from the ignition;

(4) setting the parking brake effectively; and

(5) if standing on a grade, turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway.

Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995.

What is completely ludicrous here is that people are not putting blame where it should be! The police did not shoot him up with Methamphetamine or whatever his drug of choice nor did they stalk him or harass him, they put him in jail when he committed "CRIMES!" The crimes that put every citizen in this county in jeopardy every day! Police Officers and Sheriff Deputies file these cases in the Courts only to find later that the violator is given "Probation" and slapped on their wrist in grade school fashion and being told not to do it again. Guess what they do it again and again and again and finally officers get tired of writing detailed reports to just get slapped in the face by this lack of JUSTICE. The worst part of this is that it has gone WAY TOO FAR and a GOD fearing GREAT Christian MAN has been LOST due to this TRAVESTY OF OUR FINE JUDICIAL SYSTEM! Wake up people teach your children the difference between RIGHT AND WRONG and PRAY LONG and HARD for the WHITE FAMILY who are now facing the worst thing that they could possibly face! For the Love of GOD please quit making this a pissing contest of who is WHITTIER with their responses; and have a little compassion. FYI if you lock up your vehicles or don't leave it running it makes it much harder for someone to steal it...The theft of that vehicle was a "CRIME OF OPPORTUNITY" I am sure the owner didn't intentionally cause this major catastrophe and YEARS of PAIN for the family. This is not the first incident where a vehicle was in a private driveway (again left running with keys in it) that ended badly. I don't think people are stupid or ignorant but just wonder what a key holder to be mounted on your wall was invented for if it was not meant for if not YOUR KEYS! Think About IT!

Anonymous said...

Hmm, let's think about this. Chemical dependency is a disease being treated very ineffectively by the criminal justice system. There is a concensus in the medical community that addiction should be viewed through a medical disease model. In the current DSM a person can find substance related diagnoses. It does not say "bad, stupid, or one's own fault." Instead, we will find a diagnosis that most likely represents Steve, like "Amphetamine-Induced Psychotic Disorder, with Hallucinations and Delusions." If you knew him well, then you knew he did a complete 360 while using drugs. Chasing after a person who is in the middle of a psychotic episode is clearly never a good idea. Having them court ordered into a psych hospital sounds much better. So in the end, we have tragedy. All of society takes part of the blame.

Great cover on the Messenger. Well done, fellas.

Very wierd that York visited the BPD claiming someone was chasing him (3 times) and it turned out to be true in the end.

Thank you 4:15. You'd think the police would know that information since their so high on the "War on Drugs" campaign. Pffftt. They should have recognized someone in York's condition the minute he started talking crazy.

Wonder if the fact that he visited BPD 3 times not in his right mind will have an effect on his trial?

i am saddened that we have a family who lost thier loved one who was watching out you and me to keep us out of harms way that fateful day and yet we agian want to harp on the fact that the suv owner left keys in the car. if you think that is the cause of this then you are not using your brain. this man wwas running from the cops and when he had the choice of going around this officer he choose not to and killed him. i know that at this time it is a normal reaction to look for someone to blame and the suv owner is not it. the only one to blame here is york his actions are what killed srgt white. now i pose this task to all who have posted here take and pray for the family of white and make sure that you remember that only one person is responsible for this and that is york

If the vehicle would have not had keys in it, I wonder what would have happened - in his state of mind, I'm sure he would have gotten the keys one way or another, and possilby hurting the women inside the house???

You people have to much time on your hands. Who has the time or interest to even keep up with what all you are saying.

I didn't, just thought I would skip to the end.

Wouldn't it be productive to find out who York's supplier of drugs might be and go after him too? If a bartender sells someone one too many drinks, that bar can be held liable when he causes harm to someone else, (ie drunk driving accident), right? Can't they, too, go after the dealer in this case. Bridgeport's a small town. Can't someone find out who the supplier is?

And, seriously, get off the owner of the Suburban - you guy(s) are ridiculous.

Please pray for all! There are many hurting souls ini this horrible situation.

4:15 - Hmmmm...what planet are you from? Drug abuse is an INDIVIDUAL CHOICE! Rehab and treatment is available and that is an INDIVIDUAL CHOICE! We are sure that the "medical community" has all kinds of opinions on drugs that are outlawed and users that are outlawed, so why in hell pump that trash out in the midst of this tragedy? It is meaningless!

You are the deranged one to say that it is never a good idea to chase down some crazed idiot in control of a car, whether drunk on booze or loopy on mind bending drugs. Who gave you such allmighty powers of air-headed judgment like that? Or are you speaking from experience as an abuser?

Court-ordered treatment for drug abusers, winos and alcoholics? We cannot afford it and shouldn't have to pay a cent for it. That is a matter of their OWN CHOICE! This isn't Mayberry where good old Otis the town drunk can check in at will for a clean bunk and a handout, this is real world. Violate the law and you will be hunted down and punished. Want to make a change? Do it yourself or suffer the consequences of YOUR OWN ACTIONS!

Wow, this can't be the Messenger. Where is the picture of the wrecked police car, the extreme close up of his wife and child crying, him being carried out on a gurney, etc., all on the front. This is not up to Joe Duty standards.

Finally, very classy Messenger! Thank you and may God bless his family.

Anonymous said...

10:14 - If you grew up around him, a question: How many times did his folks have to buy his way out of the hands of the law? How many prior offenses and for what? We are all sure this is not his first offense but some twittering air heads here want us to believe he was a saint.

Anonymous said...

Drug addiction is not a clinical disease. It is a weakness and an excuse. I have a feeling if we upped the penalty for alcoholism and drug addiction to execution you would see a near eradication of both.

Anonymous said...

11:35 no one is claiming that he is a saint. How is bashing York going to make this situation better? It's not. It is only going to further devastate his mother, sisters, ex-wife, and children. They will suffer plenty in the days, months, and years to come. Let it rest. His ex-wife was very gracious in her interview with Fox 4 saying that they are praying for White's family and that her family is not suffering nearly as much as White's. She has always been a kind lady. Please respect that kindness and show some of it to her family.

Anonymous said...

11:58, can you back that up with some facts? Most people who comment on this blog are f*cking idiots and everyone knows that. It is not possible to have a logical debate on this blog because of the stupidity. People just throw out their opinions with no facts to back them up.

Anonymous said...

I do not know anyone personally involved here, but I grieve for them, and continue to pray for them all: the White family, their church family and community of Perrin, the Bridgeport PD and all area law enforcement, the community of Bridgeport, those who will be traveling from near and far Tuesday for the funeral-

but I can say this from personal experience: until you've tried and tried and tried, unsuccessfully to get a loved one to give up drugs, you just don't know what it's like to be the helpless family member.

Again, I don't know the involved parties, but it is heartbreaking when you don't succeed in getting a loved one to give up the addiction. It is bigger than we are.

I cannot imagine the pain both families are feeling, and I pray for comfort and peace somewhere down the road.

Anonymous said...

9:19 Let'see - drug user or murderer (as you thought should be done to all dope heads). Will you get to be the jury and judge? I just hope it is not one of your kids or grandkids - the statistics say that all of us have family members who have been touched by drugs. I bet it is ok if the drug user is a very well known football, baseball, basketball, swimming hero, etc. instead of someone in small time American.

Anonymous said...

For all of you tree hugging, liberals and defense attorneys, this scum bag is the result of tolerance. Probation, anger programs and drug programs dont work. We allow these idiots chance after chance to change. END RESULT someone gets hurt or killed. A prperty owner is not at fault for leaving their vehicle or home unlocked. Why should we live in fear. Bottom line is we should be able to live freely. So if we cant, defend what you have BY ANY MEANS possible. Yes even deadly force. There is nothing wrong with defending what you have.

Anonymous said...

Lock-em-up, throw away the keys is a pretty expensive response to drug addiction...........and sorta out of the question with "no new taxes" crowd.

Only ignorant people think the drug problem is related to a certain class of people. I know some pretty rich kids poppem as we speak.

Rehab is necessary/expensive/and long term.

The evil in me say we aren't going to solve this problem because it would put too many people out of work if we did and lower the standard of living of some of our good neighbors who are dealin.

To 8:14 AM - "Court-ordered treatment for drug abusers, winos and alcoholics?" Just thought I would let you know I've seen court-ordered treatment work many, many times!! It's only about a 20/30% outcome but it's better than nothing!! I really can't think of too many families that has'nt been affected by one of the above 3 evils. I'm sure you have never had an aunt, uncle, brother,
sister, cousin, grandparent, neice, nephew, or in-laws affected by ANYKIND of an addiction. I bet your dad was Fred McMurray and you have MCS,"middle child syndrome"

By the way York went to the Bridgeport Police Station to complain b/c the Sheriffs Office supposedly hadn't responded efficiently enough to a theft claim. As the lady in the front office tried to make a few phone calls to help him through the situation he proceeded to walk out of the station. He doesn't live in the city so BPD could only try and help him.

I have a family member on drugs and I would rather him die than anyone elses life be effected by his choice to abuse drugs. Our country is heading down the tube so fast our head should be spinning. But unfortunately we only continue to make excuses for the people who continue to break the law and refuse to take responsibility for their actions.

8:14...Substance Depedence, not abuse...that's different, but you wouldn't understand that...is considered a chronic, progressive, incurable, treatable DISEASE by the the AMA. It has also been proven that some people are genetically predisposed to became chemically dependent. FACT! It may be an individual choice to TRY drugs, but it certainly is not an individual choice to become ADDICTED to them! We all make mistakes and for many, the one mistake of trying an addictive substance destroys their lives.
As far as chasing a psychotic person, I'm just judging by the results that is was NOT a good idea. Even though you were quite passionate about your bullshit, I'm gonna go ahead and stick with the empirical research and reject your opionion. Have a nice day.

Anonymous said...

2{18 - Thanks for the AMA briefing. Meaningful but irrelevant in the case of this drugged out maniac who has become a cop killer. You say "addicted" but treatable? Well, he has refused treatment before and will sure as hell get drug treatment now...with REAL LETHAL DRUGS. The sad point is that he had to be chased down by the police before his destructive outrage killed or maimed more people. But you, wrapped up in your own sacrosanct bullshit, wouldn't understand that concept or why we have heroic policemen out to stop them.

The candlelight vigil was outstanding. It was a tremendous show of support from the citizens of Bridgeport and the Law Enforcement Community. To bad BG didn't post about it, guess it is against his Defense Attorney practice. It was truly an amazing experience. A flag flown which has flown at the White House, Ground Zero of 9-11, in Iraq and at all Line of Duty deaths of Law Enforecment. It was something I will not forget. Sgt. White's wife showed great strength in this tragic time. I hope everyone will remember Sgt. White and pray for his family. He gave the ultimate scarifice for the safety and protection of others. Sgt. White will greatly be missed by those who served with him and assisted him in times of need. Sgt. White showed the true meaning of being a Police Officer by giving for others. Sgt. White, you will greatly be missed by all who worked with you, surrounding agencies whom you assisted or assisted you. You were a TRUE HERO and we will not let your Family Down!!!!! I know BG has Allowed people to post negative things about this incident on here, but it will all prevail on what a great person and servant to god you were. I know you are walking streets that are crime free and you don't have to worry about safety and security here anymore. We have your watch and will carry out your goals and objectives which you set out to do at the start of your tour of duty when you took the oath of office. You have a precious daughter who will be taken care of and will be frequently reminded of how her DADDY was a hero and gave the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE to show that he was a man of GOD. One day we will walk the streets that are Crime free together as one again! You and your family will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace and know we will pass what you taught and preahced to others who were willing to Serve and Protect! God Speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
