The angst of finishing 4th in the midget weight class of the District 4-B division III wrestling tournament is written all over that young mans face. He should have gone for the figure four leg lock instead of getting greedy trying the flying elbow from the top rope. Live and learn young man...live and learn.

This is the way I was raised. Not ever kid is the winner. The sooner the world loses this "every child is a winner" mentality, the better. You want something bad enough to work hard to get it, you probably will. Get off your ass and try, because the world isn't going to take your hand and lead you to it. Everone needs to lose to really know how it feels to acheave something that you worked for. Help your kid find a job and earn money, not go out and buy them that new car. That just starts the cycle of crap that most kids are raised in today. I feel sorry for them having an unrealistic view of how the real world is. They will wake-up one morning and wonder what happened to them, because their eating sunshine and farting rainbows world has come to a screaching halt without warning and they don't have the moral values to fix it. Really sad.

BG. It takes a big man to post a picture of his first marathon race. Atleast there was five contestants, to bad the fifth one got lost.

I still love you!

10:12 - boy you said a mouthful.

That kid in the pic likely reacted like that due to the mindset of his parents who probably think winning is everything.

As do many Americans.

That is a classic photo. No telling what kind of parents he has. But I hope, as 10:12 was talking about, that he doesn't quit. That him experiencing the bitterness of defeat motivates him to work harder and strive to be #1 next time. But even if he never achieves the goal of being #1, he will have gained much in the very effort of trying to obtain it.

The young man is obviously crying because although he came in 3rd place, they skipped it and placed him in 4th place. Take a look.

His buddies in the New World Order didn't run in and take out his opponents with steel chairs like they were supposed to. He's upset...it's a classic 'double cross'.

10:12, AMEN!! You hit the nail on the head. And the way it's going for our present administration in Washington it's going to get worse. The hand-out deal needs to end for everyone. I have never seen a person get everything handed to them and get off their butt to do anything for themselves. Soon the mind-set of "whats the point the Government will take care of me, why try?" sets in. It works the same way with kids in sports. Read an article today about a Professor explaining Socialism. The majority thought it was a fair system so he said O.K. every test taken this year will be averaged and everyone will get that grade. The first test had a class average of a B so all received a B. The kids who studied hard and actually scored higher became upset, the kids that didn't study a great deal were happy. The test average declined throughout the semester and everyone ended up "flunking" the class. Just goes to show you, when you give people all they need they see no need in trying to accomplish everything and the person who busted their butt gets screwed. Socialism is already here in small quantities, equal treatment to all including kids sports. It's a sad state of affairs but I can proudly say, "I didn't vote for him". Some like to say those in Washington don't get it but thats not it. Those in Washington do get it, they just don't care. Once America figures this out I hope things will change in Washington.

Speaking of winners! Congrats to Decatur boys and girls, Paradise boys and Alvord girls for winning their district and sending a huge group to respresent Wise County at Regionals! Make us proud.

Just saw a story in the NYT where a lawyer apparently shot his wife, two daqughters and himself. Sad about the women. The lawyer? well, it's a start, anyway.

This is the way I was raised. Not ever kid is the winner. The sooner the world loses this "every child is a winner" mentality, the better. Wow. It only took three comments for some tool to make the point that the downfall of society can be traced to giving every kid a medal for competing.

Anonymous said...

Medals or trophies should be given to those who "earn" them......if they do badly (and some know it, even before they participate) should only be given a ribbon of "participation" - PERIOD. Then the judges should give, first, second, third ribbons/trophies or what each event dictates - according to how well they DID in the event.

Only the TOP person should receive a bigger trophy/or ribbon, indicating the best of the event. If the rest of the folks don't like it........the answer is:

GET OFF YOUR A$$ AND WORK HARD..........next time, YOU might get the prize.

Logical?

The lawyer joke is in poor taste in the face of personal tragedy. May the poster never have to experience something like that in his/her family or friends. If not for lawyers, there would be no government or reasonable laws. There are Republican lawyers as well as Democrats, but Republican's hate government and want anarchy. What the hell.
.......

12:23 that was fricking hilarious!

" Republican's hate government and want anarchy"

We Republicans do NOT want anarchy. We just want everyone to learn the proper use of an apsotrophe.

Oh, the agony of defeat!!! Now No. 4 place needs to organize a teamtagger party and get this all out in the open.

8:58 Lesson learned. And made me laugh's.

6:18..I'm pretty sure that you are the first "tool" in line to get your hand-out medal every time. Do most of your spending at the first of the month when you get your check in the mail too, I'll bet. If you want to preach that "it's not my problem" sermon, start your own chuch. You can get a tax write-off on your welfare income too. It's a win-win deal for you!

Also, to add to my last post, Xanthippas, I WAS raised. This means I had parents that taught me the difference in right and wrong. This also means that I was brought-up with morals. By your response to my opinion, my first thought is that you were raised parked in front of a TV with little parnetal intervention unless you got in the way. Having said that, this would also lead me to beleive that you live your life looking out for 'ol #1 and screw anyone that gets in your way. Here's my opinion floating to the surface again. If most people would think of the overall results of your actions, the world would not be in the shape that it is in now. Not everone can afford to drive a Cadillac and live in a 6000 sq. ft. house. Because a lender is forced to give loans to those who can't make the payments, now we are all paying for it. If you don't understand what I'm pissed about, or how I've tied these two things together, then you are part of the overall problem with society and my trying to explain it is a waste of everyone's time. I'll say it again. Not everyone is a winner. Expecting the world to hand you your life on a platter makes you a loser. Earn your way in life and we won't have to talk about this again. OK?

The kid in the picture is the poster child for all the Conservative Teabaggers.

His expression says it all.
