alvoid may have lost their best player for the rest of the season..broke leg..? will know today, if shane w. is out, so is alvoid.

Wow. There is a guy named last name Anderson that has been in the Wise County Jail for almost a month now on a charge of not wearing a seat belt. Wonder if the cost of the fine he apparently can't pay has yet been exceeded by the cost of a month's room and board at WCJ?

Shane Watkins does have bad ligament tears in his leg, I doubt we'll see him for the rest of this season. Too bad for Alvord.

Anonymous said...

BG, it is indeed the year of the Bulls!

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:08 must not be able to read the inmate log correctly on the Anderson guy. Seems you overlooked the other NINE (9) charges he is there for at the Walker Hilton.

The Green Brothers are Amazing! The Bulls could have a fairy tale season this year for sure. The only weakness I saw last night was the defense does not react to well to the pass. Hope they get that together and then look out.

Sacred Heart.....woooooo! Really.

GO DOGS!

The Bulls are going all the way this year! Watch out DECATUR!!!

Anonymous said...

Shane is not the only player on the team.If you watched the game friday you would realize they did just as well with him off the field as on the field. That game was lost by No Brainy Chaney, and his lack of time management. The extra time coach let run off the clock would have been a sufficient amount for them to have capitalized off of Randal Perez awesome return.

Yes, I do believe this might be a great year for the Bulls!

And speaking of Bulls... I had the opportunity to watch some peewee action in Bridgeport.

Apparently this year the peewee football teams in Bridgeport dropped the whole Rams - Cowboys - Vikings - Chiefs DRAMA in favor of a Bridgeport Maroon Bulls, White Bulls, Black Bulls, Grey Bulls. Great idea, right? All the little players and cheerleaders will grow up being Bulls... Unity... All that good stuff.

Well, tap the brakes. The team that used to be the Vikings I guess is just waaaaaayyy to worried about losing their name to play along. So, with everyone else in proper Bull maroon, their coaches are wearing their old Purple shirts in "protest." They lead the team in "V-i-k-i-n-g-s!" cheers on the field. (If you have had ANY dealings with the whole Pee Wee football thing then you are not suprised by this).

These guys are teaching a terrible lesson to the young boys they are supposed to be coaching.

All you grown men in Purple need to do just that: grow up.

(*said with tongue planted firmly in cheek*) PS - do you think they will still put Vikings down on their resume's when they list a 5th grade peewee football championship? Or Bulls Maroon?

Chaney can take the credit for another stupid loss that could have been avoided. Alvord had the ball on their own 15 yard line....with the wind at their backs....and Chaney calls a pass play instead of a field goal to at least tie the game. Besides the poor time management, poor play calling and poor coaching, the Dogs played well considering the lack of leadership.

There's nothing worse when dealing with parents who coached their kid in Peewee.

For you dads who may be dealing with someone who coaches for a living....a word of advice, the worse thing you can do is let it be known that coaching your kid in peewee gives you any authority.

alvoid will be lucky to win another game this season without shane, he was the workhorse on offense and defense. i wish them luck and i hope shane heals up.

Shane Watkins is a good player and I hate to lose him but the Alvord Bulldogs are a TEAM, not one player. Coach Chaney lost the game for the team. He is an amazing idiot for sure. What comes around goes around for him and the Alvord school board.

Anonymous said...

I noticed today that when Romo got the Cowboys into the Red Zone he stayed in the game....seemed like a good idea! When Bridgeport gets rid of their goal line offense they will be serious contenders for a State Championship!

Anonymous said...

Bport's goal line offense--who is the QB? Agreed with anon 9:14. Let Cameron finish what he starts. Please, Bport coaches, stop playing coaches' kids/relatives when it's not in the best interest of the TEAM.

Anonymous said...

A team is bigger than one player and there is a lot of talent on the Bulldogs team to move the ball. I would like to praise the team for being so deep when it comes to options this season, they will just have to make a few changes but Watkins has heart to inspire his team even if he isn't on the field and the team is ready to give it their all this season. As for the comment about the school board, this has nothing to do with that whatsoever, just let the boys play without the politics.

Anonymous said...

Chaney should not be the AD or the coach. As usual neither the board nor the Superintendant has the balls to do what is right. Hopefully the Title IX investigation will show Chaneys true colors and they throw him out on his backside!

Anonymous said...

656pm do you know how BAD alvoids kicker is...? somewhere between a zero and a one, closer to 0.! what's a coach to do ? i realize shane is only one player on the team..but he is vital to offense and defense..not to mention the players about to be suspended due to poor academics..the team will have to play a lot harder to maintain from here on out.

Anonymous said...

10:21...where have you been for the previous 14 years? Bridgeport has always run a goal line offense and if you look at the statistics, the success rate is astounding. Even when Daugherty played, the quarterback on the goal line offense was different. It has nothing to do with who is playing the position, it all comes down to practice time.

Anonymous said...

well, give it to the Alvord kicker for atleast trying, but whats sad is Chaney wont let anyone try out for kicker. hes only made maybe 5 PAT's this year in 5 games, not a good percentage. other players asked to try out and Chaney said no. hes a sorry excuse for a coach and AD. i know this is last year, but he single handly lost the game for alvord again windthorst. He needs to be replaced ASAP. come on school board, get your head out of your asses and dump him on his!!!

Anonymous said...

I'm suprised Chaney isn't making "Sure" these kids pass so they can play. From what I hear they hold the hands of these players so they will pass. I remember one year when several of the starters flunked drug tests and were seen smoking weed at a party yet every single one of them played. They should have all been suspended. If it were non athletes they would be in alternative school. School board needs to wake up and boot Chaney out and get us a decent coach with some morals and one that gives all the kids a chance.

Anonymous said...

Ok. Coach Chaney may make mistakes, but who don't. He does a good job, week in week out. And he will have this team ready to play this week.He got alot of younger backs waiting there turn to play. The school board did the right thing by getting rid of Ennis forever. He has said and done thing with his players for years.

11:06, you might want to be very careful about what accusations you make on a public blog about Enis or anyone else.

You're on you're 15....wind to your back
4 seconds on the game clock.
1st.....you tell you're kikcker he's not going to kick because he's not good enough.....er.....did we put faith in him? kill his motivation? Let him know we don't believe in his ability?....naw...surely not....I'm sure he understood they'd rather try a pass and win the game than trust his ability and at least tie.........
Are you from Winthorst?

Anonymous said...

"said and done thing(sic) with his players for years" what the hell are you talking about..?

Anonymous said...

This is Chaney's last year at Alvord? WHOO HOOO if it's true.
Randal Perez will step up and be there for the bulldogs.
I think there is too much focus on high school football. There are other sports that the booster clubs and other people do not support at all. It's wierd to me. Wake up people.

Anonymous said...

Anon 7:05,
Other than a threat to your own perceived "authority" or ego, what does it matter? Give the boys dad a clip board and special shirt and move on. For you coaches that are dealing with good parents a word of advice: You have the boys for games, the parents have them for life.

Anonymous said...

1039 You are right it was last year, this is this year and we need to focus on the season at hand. Different team for different days!

Anonymous said...

Whatever, Bulldogs may be wounded but not dead.

Anonymous said...

1258 Agreed!

1219 As for the comments about the Booster Clubs not supporting other sports, I beg to differ, uniforms come from the support of the Booster Club, equipment for the use of all teams comes from that same support. Football has the most players typically so I can see why that could be misconstrued at more support as the club has more mouths to feed so to speak when it comes to funding. However, to say they don't support other sports is a travesty and a horrible misconception.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Honcho... I 100% agree with your comments on the Bridgeport PEE-WEE Football. Coaches wearing Vikings shirts are DUMB!

Anonymous said...

12:48....the team last year was better then the team this year, no doubt. they should have done alot better last year then they did but with Chaney, who couldnt coach a peewee team, they lost on stupid calls that he made. example: the windthorst game! and again friday night. from what ive heard, since my brothers on the team, alot of the players dont like chaney and a hell of alot more fans dont like him either. and people, get off the Ennis crap already, who many state championships did he bring the alvord???? how many has Chaney brought alvord???? BIG OL GOOSE EGG!! only reason he wanted Ennis gone was to fill in his positions with football coaches to help him to make up for his sorry coaching.

Reality is coaches are not always hired for their ability. Sometimes for their pliabiliity........play the board presidents's son when the current coach might not. They are sometimes retained because they are useful to admin to hire contacts and friends as opposed to hiring the best assistants you can.

Reality is that priorities are as visible as ability. Sometimes a coach has that "itch" to win for the kids. Sometimes it's a paycheck, sixpack, and a poker game.

These two realities make it difficult for parents who want the best for their kids.

Anonymous said...

TO 2:35.
tHAT "BIG OLD GOOSE EGG" MAY BE NOT ENTIRELY CORRECT. eNIS DID NOT BRING A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TO ALVORD IN FOOTBALL( HE ONLY COACHED F'BALL 1 YEAR...ALVORD WENT TO REGIONALS 12-1), BUT HE DID BRING SEVERAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TRACK AND CROSS COUNTRY (WHERE HE SPENT MOST OF HIS 19 YEARS)TO ALVORD. HE HAD NUMEROUS DISTRICT, REGIONAL AND STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND STATE QUALIFIERS IN BOTH TRACK AND CROSS COUNTRY.

Anonymous said...

11:06 . The only time the Enis "allegations" come up is when you slackers and whiners can't find anything else to say bad about the guy. He was accused and investigated every time Chaney felt threatened by his winning record. NOTHING was ever found to be true. Ask the girls that has been coached by him, not the hacked off bench warmers that told stories to make excuses. His record speaks for itself. Leave him alone, he's at a 5A school now, something that Chaney could never achieve. If it is Chaney's last year, let's all high five down Wickham Street like certain people did this summer. Walmart, this is MC, ya got any job openings?

Anonymous said...

oooooohhhh..that must have been toooo sensitive. Unfortunately it is truth. I'm guessing because it is an ongoing "item" you can't post it. I understand.

Pick up a program at an alvord football game and read when the Booster Club meets. It says that they meet on certain days of the week or month during football season. After football season, they meet only as needed. This says it all. Football is the only sport in many people's eyes, even the booster club's eyes. I didn't join the Alvord booster club this year because of that printing. What about the baseball, track, basketball, etc., teams?

Alvord is in a fix. The problems of the AD or legendary, yet the The Clan that brought him to Alvord to play their grandchild still controls 4 votes on the board.

There really isn't relief for the kids/parents because the AD will get an extension to his contract before the community gets a chance to break that 4 vote block in May.

It will happen eventually. The days of one family controlling a community/school/church are getting fewer except in the little hamlets, burgs like Alvord.

In the meantime, kids, teachers get hurt. That's the shame.

Anonymous said...

Wow! You hit the nail on the head! Keep speaking the truth 9:06. I think the "Clan" might sing a different tune when the REAL TRUTH comes out. Something like "Pleeease release him, let him go, cause we don't love him anymore".

Anonymous said...

Thats what we need the REAL TRUTH
not what you think/or what I think. Lets get it all out in the public, then we will see who goes and who stays. this blog is not helping anything.

Anonymous said...

Yes, lets quit throwing "tantrums".

Today is the first time that I logged on to this blog, and I can honestly say that as a parent I am ashamed. To whomever 955am is....why would you put a kid down in order to build your coach up? How would you feel if that were your child? You obvisouly have no compassion for those you would try to humilate.
