The Republican Nominee For VP: Sarah Palin

Yeah, it's two hour old news. And, yeah, that's some photoshop fun. But here's an older real one. Hey, now: And there's more:

It's in poor taste to make fun of conservatives.

How dare you, sir!

Interesting. I just heard her speech and she doesn't have a bunch of gaps in her history, or people she has to distance herself from, as does the Democrat Presidential candidate.

The crowd at the Republican rally chanted "U-S-A! U-S-A!"

All I heard from the DNC was chants of "Obama! Obama!" Did I hear correctly, and if so, is that an indication of political outlook?

Please God, I pray that this woman never posed nude when she was young!

Seriously, though, I'm very impressed with this woman!

Anonymous said...

i luv her

Anonymous said...

I was listening to her speech with McCain on TV just now, not watching, just listening. Her voice is really grating, kind of like listening to a beauty contestant explain how she would change the world.......oh, wait! She IS a beauty queen, and she plays the FLUTE! And, she's a HOCKEY MOM! Woot!

Uh, what's up with her kiddo names though? Track, Trig, Piper, Willow........ummmmmmmmm.

She does sound like the kind of gal jarsnip would vote for....pro gun, pro life, pro big oil......

Yep, excellent choice, Mr.McCain.

Anonymous said...

Speaking for all Democrats ... Yeah ...

I'd "Hit That". But I dont like her politics !!!

Now go make me a sandwich and get me a beer.

Anonymous said...

She certainly no Joe Biden..!!

Anonymous said...

She is very pretty and certainly should add some spice to the otherwise dull McCain's campaign.

The guy obviously likes the beauty queen types.

Wonder if she can type?

Anonymous said...

Just a another small town American who likes guns and goes to church. The Democrats hate them. The first thing out of their mouth was a negative comment about her being from a small town. They did not mention her husband being a union member or commercial fisherman. Watch the polls now.

Denney Crane said...

This has to be one of the most brilliant political moves of all time!

A woman VP with more administrative experience than the Democratic Presidential nominee... and she likes to hunt and fish!

I want to be President of her fan club...

Anonymous said...

I thought it was Janice Wood from Three's Company.

That show made me laugh a bunch.

Anonymous said...

I would lick her toes

Anonymous said...

She has the voice of a MOM, so what is wrong with that? She is smart, attractive and honest. She worked hard for her town, state and will for the US of A.

BTW, her kids names- those are Alaskian names you dit. She is from Alaska.

More power to her. I think our "Change" will come from her being in the WHITE House.

And BTW- the white house was NOT built by slaves as one of the dems stated last night.

Anonymous said...

Democrats will be quaking in their loafers..!

Anonymous said...

she has taken the spotlight off the big obama supershow..that's for sure.

Anonymous said...

she has that smokin hot teacher look, very nice!!!

Anonymous said...

wasn't she the teacher/stripper from varsity blues?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, 12:05 - Wordypile will like her too. She has her body covered up.

Likely in true Republican man tradition, she will walk a few steps behind McCain.

Anonymous said...

I think she's an EXCELLENT pick for VP by McCain. She has an 80% approval rating as Gov of Alaska and most politicians anywhere are doing great to get above 50%. Additionally, she was the head of Alaska's Commission handling the Oil and Gas issues and industry for the state ( like the Railroad Commission in Texas),found corruption in the commission and when she reported it to the Govenor and he did nothing, she quit the commission to later run against and beat that corrupt govenor. Sure wish we had her as Govenor of Texas!!

Anonymous said...

Wordkyle -
Like you watched much of the Democratic National Convention! You have the nerve to say:
"The crowd at the Republican rally chanted "U-S-A! U-S-A!"
All I heard from the DNC was chants of "Obama! Obama!"

I, on the other hand, watched the DNC every night for 2 or 3 hours because that's the party I believe in. The crowd there did indeed chant "USA, USA" numerous times, INCLUDING DURING Obama's speech last night. So you either can't hear or didn't even watch his 50 minute speech in its entirety.

You are so deceptive - You make statements like you really have all this knowledge about the Democrats, when in reality you just use your imagination and make them out to be the villians you wish they were.

IF you would have watched Obama's speech last night, you would have also heard him say, "John McCain, America comes first with all of us."

Jarhead said...

Demos are scrambling... watch the dumb comments pile up...

Greatness.

Anonymous said...

THis woman, whose qualifications are being active in PTA, mayor of a town not much bigger than Decatur, and governor of a state with hardly anyone in it for less than two years, wants to be one heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States? And a 72 year old heartbeat at that?

McCain - you just knocked a home run...............for the Democrats!

Jarhead said...

"You make statements like you really have all this knowledge about the Democrats, when in reality you just use your imagination and make them out to be the villians you wish they were."

You mean kind of like you're doing?

Genius.

AnObiter said...

Denney, sign me up too.

This was a brilliant move on behalf of the McCain campaign, and an encouraging zap of pulse for the Republican Party.

As a woman in government, I can hardly kick the giddies today; she's tough, she's a Pro-Life mother, she's a card-carrying appreciator of her Constitutional rights, she stares status quo in the eye and kicks its *ss on behalf of the principles of her constituents. God, what's not to love?

I'm thrilled by the set ticket, and whereas I truly deliberated upon whether I could stick a McCain sign in my yard, I KNOW I can stick a McCain/Palin sign out there. Anyone willing to put ethics back into the White House will get my vote.

Go Sarahcuda. Bring on November.

Anonymous said...

A Hillary Clinton supporter who can now vote for someone and just not against Obama. McCain picked the right person in this former beauty queen mom of five who hunts, fish and shoots a gun! This all state basketball player who started out with the PTA is what Washington needs. The part of her speech I liked the most was when she told Congress Alaska didn't need the bridge to no where. If they needed a bridge, they would build it themselves!

She has a handsome husband, a son in the US Army and four beautiful chilcren at home.

I can't wait until she debates Joe Biden! He has more than met his match.

Who would have thought the first women would be a newcomer from the state of Alaska to be on the Republican ticket?

Her biography is not made up like Obama and she has as much more executive experience as governor.

12:59 I watched all of the speech last night and every minute of the convention and more were shouting Obama than USA! Obama said character and patriotism should be out of the debate because of he can't measure up to John McCain on those important issues.

Martin Luther King said in his I have a dream sppech 45 years ago that everyone should be judged on the contents of their character instead of their race. Voters are going to judge the two candidates on the contents of their character and Obama is going to be second to McCain.

Anonymous said...

1259 but nobody believes obama or joe biden or any democrats for that matter...they are proven liars..!!

wordkyle said...

1259 - You are correct that I did not listen to all of Obama's speech. That's why I phrased my post the way I did. But the parts I heard had only chants of "Obama! Obama!"

As for what you quoted of his speech, I've already learned that what Obama says is usually devoid of substance. What he doesn't say is more telling.

1245 - You decry the "Republican tradition" toward women -- but which party has a woman on the ticket?

Anonymous said...

SHOCK AND AWE....!!!

Billy said...

If she were running for president I would vote for her,now there is a backup plan!Likes guns, hunting fishing, and comes from a family that actually rolls up their sleeves and works for a living, like 90 percent of the 50 percent of us that do!And as an added bonus ain't afraid to take on the "big boys"!

"osama" when your drawing from the well that is the congress there is no telling what you might dip up!

Anonymous said...

I am gonna change my vote and vote with my privates!

wordkyle said...

105 - Are you sure you want to talk about qualifications for office? Obama was a "community organizer" (whatever that is,) a member of a state legislature, where he recorded a huge number of "no votes," (other than taking a stand to say it's okay to kill a baby who has survived a botched abortion) and a US Senator for a little over a year before starting his campaign for president.

I forgot to mention his twenty years of experience as a member of Jeremiah Wright's congregation. But he apparently didn't know what was going on there.

Anonymous said...

I NEED MORE PRINTWER PAPER!!!!!!!!

WORDKYLE NEEDS AN ENIMA, A SHOT OF GOOD BURBOR AND A WOMAN.
ALL OF WHICH ARE OUT PRICED (BY THE REPUBLICANS) FOR THE REST OF US.

Anonymous said...

"1:05 says "THis woman, whose qualifications are being active in PTA, mayor of a town not much bigger than Decatur, and governor of a state with hardly anyone in it for less than two years..."

So, to clarify- she is way more experienced and qualified than Obama?

Anonymous said...

She doesn't have much experience, but she can't do any worse than 43.

She's gunning (pun intended) for the women voters...do you notice in her speech that she thanked Hillary Clinton?!

Anonymous said...

Keep tellin' yourself that kind of bullshiate, Denney Crane......

Sarah - BS in Communications and Journalism, Governor of Alaska! for a year!, Mayor of Wasilla, AK (population 8,471), Christian (Assemblies of God (OH HFJC!)). No wonder her hair is done up in a bun....creationist, big oil lover, gun lover, pro lifer.......oldest son joined the military on 9-11, oldest son set to deploy to Iraq on 9-11 of this year. Woot!

EXACTLY what the USA needs for a VP - no, make that a VPILF.

This is gonna be fun....

And don't you neocons fool yourselves that this little lady is gonna suck down the Hillary votes.......

Shiate, McCain should have picked Anobiter as his running mate. I could deal with that a little better, since I don't think Ano is an Assemblies of God type Christian. Speaking of which AOG's are supposed to be pacifists.......so what's up with the gun-totin'?

More administrative experience than Obama? Yeah, right, technically, but not really!

Sheeple, go ahead and continue to fool yourselves, like the fools you have been for 8 years already.

Anonymous said...

There is one thing more important to me than anything else, and that is trust. I don't like Obama for numerous reasons but it all boils down to trust. This lady appears to walk the talk.

Other thoughts:
* Barry didn't have much to say. Bet he is in shock.
* I love it how Obama made this big deal about sending out the text message and how his supporters would know who his VP was first. I am definitely not a supporter and I knew fours before the text message went out (3:00 AM no less - I guess the Dems were on their way home from the bar). McCain kept this one pretty quiet. Not a big deal except Obama can't deliver on what he says.

Anonymous said...

"In 1996, she challenged and defeated the incumbent mayor, criticizing wasteful spending and high taxes. The ex-mayor and sheriff tried to organize a recall campaign, but failed. Palin kept her campaign promises by reducing her own salary, as well as reducing property taxes by 60%. She ran for reelection against the former mayor in 1999, winning by an even larger margin. Palin was also elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors."

There's plenty more where that came from and this simple tidbit demonstrates more leadership as a mayor of a po-dunk Alaskan town than Obama could ever dream of on the best of spin days as a senator(which he had only 1 year experience before his campaign started).

Jarhead:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
This is a response to your 11:07 comment on the random fri morn post. I decided to answer you here because this is the place everyone's attention has gone until further notice.

Yes the majority of the younger generation has gone to hell in a handbasket for many of the reasons you cite. Such has been the case for countless generations before. What you fail to see is that in every generation there are enough individuals who do not fall into the gutter to lift many others out, and keep thinggs going with their force of personality and will. This phenomenon explains why each generation is dubbed as the one which will bring ruin down on us, but that ruin never really materializes, just gets pawned off on the next worthless generation.

See, what you suffer from is ageing, and until you quit doing that the "next generation" will never cease to seem worthless to you.

This is philosophy from an old man who didn't buy into the ageing process. Trust me, I'm better off at twice your age for having kept this perspective on youth. You'll be a bitter old ex-marine just like my father-in law someday, and that is a human the world could do without. It won't miss you either.

P.S-- I know you hate anon-- feel free to address me as steve

Ya know, Barry, your little blog has become, over time, (not just with the posts on this topic, but many others), a little wasteland of bandwidth and idiocracy, except for your referral to BON.

BUT:

Ano: She's just another Stepford Wife, who is now in love with Sarah. I'd bet Ano wishes she were her. (Ano, your gushing was quite creepy. You should probably stop that.)

Jarhead - lost cause - kind of like Wordbile. Denney Crane doesn't even register on this scale of weirdos. RRip, I know you are still out there....ylmofo!

Silly Alley - Barry, now you are making me hope to attempt to think you are pulling a Steven Colbert on all the sheeple, otherwise, I will be really disappointed in you.

And to the normal folks who read this blog and it's comments, including myself, why are we wasting our time?

I'll tell you why, normal people. We need to keep aware of all the crazies out there, and remind ourselves we can always get a taste of them on LLFTLODQ.

I think that a beauty queen with a degree in journalism who has been gov of the least populous state for almost 20 mos is very qualified.

And, she has great family values. Every good parent I know (mothers and fathers) go back to work less than 72 hours after a child is born.

A down-syndrome child doesn't need parents who can love and care for it. It needs a mom that campaigns all day.

She is great!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Wordkyle is profound. He thinks a woman who has a journalism degree, a runner up ribbon in a beauty contest, and 19.5 months as governor of Alaska is qualified to be POTUS. Great! But, Obama is somehow inferior because, amongst the USA chants, the largest convention crowd in US history actually chanted the name of the speaker. When I grow up I want to be an intellectual giant like wordkyle.

708 - Interesting how you twist what I say, then argue against the point that you say I said, which isn't what I said at all.

1) Palin is just as qualified to be POTUS as Barack Obama, if not moreso. No Obama supporter has yet given examples of any of his achievements. He has spent his career leaving no trace. He certainly discards relationships at the drop of a hat.

Palin, on the other hand, has a proven track record with no huge gaps.

2) Obama is an inferior choice for POTUS, but not because crowds chant his name. They chant his name out of celebrity-worship, which appears to be about all he has going for him.

3) Your goal should be first to grow up, and only then to work on being an intellectual giant. First things first.

Obama has 8 years of state office in a large state, and 4 years as a U.S. senator.

Palin has been a governor for, what, a year and a half? But, she was the mayor of a town half the size of Decatur.

Wordkyle - an intellectual legend in his own MIND.

But he does have that one fan whose main post is "Wordkyle is right as always!" What an independent thinker, that one is! He probably chants in front of his laptop or PC "Wordkyle! Wordkyle!" although Wordie would prefer he chant, "USA, USA." :)

Yeah, we need a Hockey mom who has never been in a Senate Chamber as President Pro Tem of the Senate. What a laugh.
Not to mention that she has made so many enemies in Alaska that she'll never win a second term as Governor.
I'll never understand you right wing clowns. First you throw an actor in the White House, then a former head spook, then the idiot son of the former head spook, and now a former POW who was dismissed by you same people as a nutjob only 8 years ago and a freaking beauty queen runner up that has never done anything other than be Mayor of a town of 8000 for 1 term, or did she even finish the term, and Governor of the least populous state because the former Governor was a crook. wordkyle seems to overlook that some 18 million people actually voted for Obama - as well as another 18 million for Clinton. I'd say those folks thought that theses candidates were, indeed, qualified. Palin, however, got one vote, McCain's. What an obvious pandering to the disgruntled Hillary voters! Hey, wordkyle, check out when Palin got her first passport (a year ago) and the number of trips she's made outside the country (one). Yeah, this is one worldly woman!

m-m, the President is in charge of reviewing, signing, and enforcing all laws passed by the Congress. He also will oversee the Justice Department's handling of enforcement of laws. It may not be a bad idea to have some legal education.

"Governor Murkowski appointed Palin Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she served from 2003 to 2004 until resigning in protest over what she called the "lack of ethics" of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest. After she resigned, she exposed the state Republican Party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time, and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail. Palin filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who both resigned; Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine." -Wikipedia

Gorilla- you are either a big fat liar head and know it or need to consider your sources. Her stand on that subject was that debate should be allowed- if the students broach the subject and not necessarily part of the curiculum.
Even Wikipedia got that right. Where did you hear that nonsense? Countdown With Keith Olbermann?

11:02 says,"Not to mention that she has made so many enemies in Alaska that she'll never win a second term as Governor."

Proof people will believe whatever they 'want' to believe.

There have been at least two surveys of her approval ratings in Alaska that I've read about-one placed it at 80% one at 90%. That is so good it seems nearly impossible because it never (rarely?) happens in any office at any level.

What a strange anomaly Obama is, consider how he ended up becoming a senator in the first place.

He was helped greatly by two scandals: First, his main opponent in the primary was accused of spousal abuse. Then, when he won the nomination and was already leading businessman turned teacher Jack Ryan in the polls, Ryan's ex Jeri accused him of taking her to live sex shows and swing clubs. Ryan withdraws in disgrace, in steps hopeless candidate "Republican" Alan Keyes.

As for being a senator for four years? You need to consider he's been essentially running for president for about 5 of them- no time to be a senator. Check his voting record.

We'll shake our heads in bewiderment after November whether he becomes POTUS or not when the magic fairy dust wears off and wonder how he got that far in the first place. But, let's think about that now and rid ourselves of whatever made us consider this guy even to this point.

HOPE and CHANGE? What an agenda.

I would have more respect for the guy if his theme was VAGARIES.

For those of you who haven't checked Jarheads blog out- do so, it's really good.

Keep up the good work Jar.

1258 - I didn't overlook anything. I contend that eighteen million democrats voted for Obama despite his lack of qualifications. Thus the description of his appeal as the "cult of personality."

712 - LOL Your math shows why you're an Obama supporter. Disregarding your wonky timeline, what exactly has Obama done? Was it like his claim that he was against the Iraq war before anyone else? (He never had to record a vote for such a stance.) Or like his large number of "present" votes as a state legislator? Bill Clinton: "When‘s the last time we elected a president based on one year of service in the Senate before he started running?"

Interesting how those who disparage Palin assign a level of excitement to the reaction of Republicans greater than it really is. Most of us agree that she is a good choice (once more: just as qualified as Obama) but we don't give her the rock-star status that Democrats have given Obama, and which they apparently think we think about her.

The attacks are way off base, and I don't think they even realize it.

A State's rights, family oriented, conservative that challenges the status quo, and hasn't been out begging for the power she's been asked to hold, with a husband who works as a commercial fisherman, and north slope oil worker. Sounds like the REAL person we need to stir up Washington.

2:21 Your totally wrong. The fewer attorneys we have involved in government the better off we will be. They are a big problem in our government. Our state legislatures and congress are comprised of 70 to 80 percent of their members being attorneys. They have written laws and policies that strictly benefit their profession. You practically can't do anything that doesn't have to involve an attorney. The criminal justice system is setup to have our prisons systems be a revolving door, knowing full well that 90% of the criminals are repeat offenders and having them on the street is job security for the attorneys. Our lawsuit laws are written to primarily benefit the attorneys. All other civilized countries have a loser pays system. It's crazy.

11:02 - I like the way you think.

And let us NOT forget that dear Arnold would likely have NOT been elected governor of his GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT State without Democratic backing....namely....

Maria!!!!

GO DEMS!!!!!

m-m, I think you meant "you're" totally wrong. That's probably just some rule of grammer some lawyer wrote to benefit other lawyers.

Nonetheless, I would like to know what, if any, laws were written "that strictly benefit" attorneys. Please name one. Just a single one. Can you?

For the mongoloids who continue to repeat what Keith Olbermann et al want you to say about Palin and 'Big Oil'(whatever that is).

"Palin has strongly promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, despite concerns from environmentalists. She also helped pass a tax increase on oil company profits. Palin has announced plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisers to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Alaska."

I know if you are down with Obama truth is a foreign thing to you but, read that second sentence several times slowly and if you are a true liberal I would think the last sentence would make you orgasmic. And if you don't like the thought she supports more stateside oil production you can complain all you want- when you stop driving a car.

hey any woman that has the greatness of mrs palin and has a bike like that is bound to do great things. and at least she has experience and no gaps in her history

McCain said he would pick the most qualified person he could find to be his running mate. Palin is the top Republican that shines over all the rest? The very best person to be president if necessary? Ha Ha. She already has shown she can abuse her power for personal reasons. Republicans love abuse of power when is it Publicans doing it. As another poster stated, Republicans would think it was great if a monkey was chosen. Republicans need to change animials from the elephant to the monkey. It is more fitting with their line of thinking. Read she's pretty progressive on gay and lesbian issues. But she will probably do the 'ol Repug Flip-Flop cause cunservatives hate gays and lesgians, even thought some are, it just don't look good to like'em.

On the Palin nomination - she's got better qualifications for vice President and therefore President than Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty, Jindal, the Fla gov, Ridge, Hutchinson etc. etc. etc. NO WAY!!! Face it - McCain is simply pandering to the "women's vote" and the fundamentalists. Experience and capabilities have nothing to do with it. Nothing!

People have ragged on jarheads and others- even anobiters blog saying a lot of mean, awful things to discourage their efforts only because they disagree with them.

Pretty simple minded, sick stuff.

I would hate to be around such fearful people.

Which Obama is the real one? The one who so eloquently read the teleprompter during his acceptance speech? Or the Obama that couldn't put two coherent thoughts together during the Q&A at the Saddleback church? ("That decision is above my paygrade." Presidential, huh?)

Palins DPS chief had been warned about low recruiting numbers for the states troopers and would not work with the governors office on budget issues- she is very much for fiscal responsibility in government.

The dude wasn't doing his job- so he should have been fired. It's crazy I know but, that's the way it works in the grown-up world.

He was offered another executive position with the state. I think if there was some kind of effort to use her political power to destroy the guy over a family matter he would have just been kicked out in the cold.
