I'd Get Tasered For $40,000

Which is what this guy got according to the news today. (The taser is about 2 1/2 minutes into it.)

Wouldn't it be less painful just to have been his lawyer and gotten 40 percent?

Protect and serve? That cop should have his butt kicked. Gestapo tactics.

dude needed to sign the ticket!
the rest is all his fault!

Now everyone will be hoping to get tazed so they can get money. The officer was a little over the top, but so was the guy he stopped. Just sign the ticket and tell it to the judge. Seems to me those two were two peas in a pod.

When will these cops learn to turn off the video?

He should have tased the wife, too.

All this for "speeding." See that dangerous road it occurred on. I can see the school zone, the mutiple turn in and outs on either side of the street. Completely justified, that office saved a few lives that day.

I wonder if the goverment taxes him on the full $40,000 or the $20,000 he gets after he pays his attorney?

While we ponder these questions, the UHP Troopers are rubbing their hands together in anticipation of tasering every citizen who questions their judgement.

The UHP are the biggest bunch of Nazis in the US besides the Arlington Police Department...

He should have held out for more...I have never seen an officer ask someone to get out because he refused to sign the ticket. I think there is a place where the officer write in if someone does that. Never should have happened.

Look, we all know there are some bad cops out there, but there are also some good ones. Does it not occur to the good ones that their jobs would be easier if they purged themselves of the bad ones. Lack of respect by the citizens is caused by incidents like this. It seems that the tazer has taken the place of the common sense approach which used to be the hallmark of an effective cop.

The cop thinks he is GOD, what a dick. He needs to be fired for abusing his authority, next time he might shoot an innocent person because of that giant chip on his shoulder. This guy was a jerk to the cop, but I deal with jerks in my job too, but I can't tazer them. I wished I could.

Well, an officer needs to explain that signing the ticket is also a personal recognizance bond (or promise) to appear, and the failure to sign requires him to arrest the person so a bond can be set by a magistrate. Some people may think that signing the ticket may be admitting to something. The speeder was stupid, but the officer most likely could have avoided ALL of this with a tiny bit of reasonable explaining. It's dangerous to have police officers with zero human skills.

i wonder what alternatives the policeman had.

Pepper spray is worse than the taser. i would have sprayed him, then maybe the wife to. Both are the same for non-compliance. she didn't listen to well, when ordered back in the vehicle.

OF COURSE this officer had alternatives. Reasonable explanation. Indicate 'refusal to sign" on the form. Tasering under these circumstances was completely uncalled for. And if that wasn't true, the judge would have thrown the case out. He didn't. So all you "cops can do no wrong" defenders out there, get a grip.

I have immense respect for the good cops out there. It's a damn hard job. But I have no respect for the morons like this guy.

Hmm, I see it is now OK to question a cop whenever you are stopped, and it is unnecessary to obey his instructions.

The taser is the worst invention made. If you knew you're disobedience would result in a .357 caliber slug in your chest instead of electrical shock, I'll guarantee you would shut your mouth, or you would never open it again.

That is crap, he should have followed the officers directions. To all who say its the troopers fault, you need to see what troopers see on a daily basis. In todays world you never know what a persons intensions are.... Im so tired of bleeding heart liberals! This trooper is trying to write a simple ticket and the man wants to get all smart and wont sign... Im glad to see the trooper was cleared, and the actions were justified. What would we say if the trooper didnt taze him and the man pulled a weapon or just beat the trooper to death...? Would the actions be ok then? I am not a police officer, I am just sick of the people trying to protect us having to worry about crap like this, knowing they might face a lawsuit for doing what their training tells them is right in the heat of the situation. I miss the old days.

Conversely, 7:47, if a cop knew that shooting someone, whether it be with a 357 or a taser, was not an option, he might just resort to courtesy and logic, accomplish his task (collecting taxes) in the name of "law enforcement", and not make enemies of the people. Just another way of thinking about public service.

$30,000 a year IDIOT....Karma, they all feel the need to be power trippers....KARMA!!! SWEET KARMA!!!!

THANK YOU 10:14PM!!!!!!!!! He should have followed the Trooper's instructions and he wouldnt get Tased PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!! All he had to do is sign the ticket and been on his way but he had to make a big ordeal out of the whole situation. GOOD FOR THE TROOPER I give him two thumbs up!!!

OK fine...some here want our cops to lose in confrontations like this. I don't! The punk decided he would control the situation and hold a hearing at the roadside hand he left the cop no choice. An officer cannot afford to let the other party take control when they become belligerent and the officer told him what to do to keep from resisting arrest. First, to place his hands behind him and face the cruiser. Next, to get on the ground. The punk ignored him and was put down by a taser. So what? Was the cop supposed to knock him sensless with a night stick? Shoot him? Oh....yes....just wrestle him all over hell to keep from being called a Nazi. Cops are treained to keep control of situations like this and live through them. When any adversary becomes non-cooperative, violent resistance can happen in a flash. The officer has to react instantly with means at hand to protect himself and restrain the suspect. All the discussion necessary could have happened after the young asshole was cuffed and on the way to jail. He preferred to take it the hard way and got a little jolt of "be nice" juice. Poor little spoiled jerk! Did the taser do him permanent injury? He was on his feet in two minutes and whining about the arrest all over again. I think the patrolman showed remarkable restraint under stress and probably should have given the kid a shot of pepper spray. Would that satisfy all of you liberal airheads?

Anonymous said...

It's also ok to have a sweet and low packet of dope under your seat.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe what some of you idiots are writing. That kid was way out of line. No one should talk to an
officer like that. He would not shut up and listen.

10:14 PM and 9:01 AM are completely
on the mark.

By God, how dare he not OBEY that officer? Didn't he know that officer was GOD!!! Well, the officer thought so anyway. LOL

He should have signed the ticket and fought it in court but the officer was way out of line. The $40K should come out of his income. It was his stupidity in using the taser. That officer knew he wasn't trying to leave. He just wanted to exert the force the state had unfortunately given him. The guy and his wife should be thankful it was just a tazor gun. I could see this jackass using a real gun to show his power over the law breaking citizen.

Anonymous said...

The reason the officer is still there and not reprimanded is probably because he acted on DEPARTMENT POLICY! i.e. if a punk gives you lip and disobeys instructions, do not wait for him to strike the first blow. Go for the tazer and use it!

Seems like the ones who are so severe with the officer here must have been on the receiving side of law and order at some time. Naturally, it was ALWAYS the fault of the cops and they are all Nazis. Get a life! The rest of us know the drill, why not you?

By your logic we need to be bombing Iran right now. What do you think? Good idea?

Anonymous said...

4:34, you are an idiot. Do you know the purpose of a taser..? It is non-lethal alternative, doing what the trooper did is why tasers are in use. The cop is supposed to be the authority and in control of the situation. I guess if you were a cop and stopped me I would just tell you to eat shit and leave. What would you do? Of course you wouldnt use the taser (that would be a power trip) and you wouldnt dare use a gun as you probably never shot one... Oh, thats right you would argue with the person on the side of a busy highway for thirty minutes and let the speeder take control and tell you what to do. Hell, why even have cops in your world? Is this how you would do it?
Trooper- I stopped you for your speed.
Speeder- I wasnt speeding man, you are wrong!
Trooper- Well I guess I am, so sorry about that sir, have a good day.

People like you give me tired head.
Wheres Greggo?
