Dude!

There is so much gold in this thing. -There's a little bit of Eric Cartman's: "You will respect my authority!" -There's some Pulp Fiction Samuel L. Jackson: "Say [dude] one more time. I dare ya! I double dare ya!" -And I love the cop himself, "A dude is someone who works on a ranch!!!"

No wonder kids hate cops. I'm all for beating kids down if they're robbing someone or doing something other than skateboarding where they shouldn't, but I think this "dude" woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The "respect this badge" comment was a dead giveaway in terms of this guy abusing his power. People who get that upset shouldn't be police officers. They're the ones on whom we depend to be calm in the midst of a chaotic situation, not fly off the handle when someone calls him "dude."

Verdict: suspend him for 2 weeks without pay.

If that were my kid I would be in need of your services Barry, because I would whip that cops ass!!!

Anonymous said...

OMG!!!! Proof that some people should NEVER be cops! He threatened to hit the child and then verbally abuses him.

Did the cop actually say" dont call me dude call me officer (whatever) or you could get killed"??!!??!! Yes, the kids got skater slang with a little attitude but you get more flies with honey, right?

That dude is Bobby Knight, that's his new job in Lubbock. He's a stroke waiting to happen.

Is that the new cop fashion to have your waist band under your arm pits?

Why are we not being told where this happened I would love to call that city's mayor and police cheif and complain. That (dude's) actions was all uncalled for. I would like to know what he said after he asked if that camara was on.

Scary stuff
THAT douch-bag is what gives officers a bad name. He is just a little man who has NO business with a gun.

What I could not truly believe is the very end of the video when the "dude" threatened the person filming the meltdown.

That just shows that kids have no respect these days for anyone!! The little brat probably deserved the ass chewing!!

I hope he was fired over that. What a punk cop. Typical.

At the end he says I better not find myself and it cuts off I am sure the end was on the internet. He knew then that his ass was going to end up here. LOL.
It sounded like he wanted to talk to his mother to give her some shit too. Any thing the kid did wrong is going to be lost in the way this kid was treated. He not only threatened the kid and he shoved him around a little and then told him that someone would kill him one day if he didn't learn how to talk and stop saying dude.
The kid had a little attitude but not much and he never raised his voice and the only disrespectful thing he really did was not us the word sir instead of dude.
I hope that he has to publicly apologize to that kid just the same as he publicly humiliated him.

I'm surprised the guy didn't tase that kid. If it had been a less public place, he probably would have. I can only imagine what other things this guy has done when the cameras weren't on him.

And Jarhead: suspended for 2 weeks? You've got to be kidding me. As you point out, people who behave like this "shouldn't be police officers." This guy should be fired immediately, and prevented from ever having another job where he gets to carry weapons and intimidate people.

We need to respect our police officers. Or, put another way, we need to be able to respect our police officers. When we allow these types of people to be police officers, we diminish the ability of citizens to have respect for police as a whole, including many of them who are fine examples of public servants.

"...your friends have a brain, they know when to shut their mouth." Hmmm....apparently he doesn't have a brain and doesn't follow his own advice much.

This story was on Good Morning America this morning and apparently it happened sometime last year-I can't remember where, but I'm sure it's on their website. Why do you think it's just now coming out on the internet?

Anonymous said...

I don't like ass hole cops anymore than the next guy but judging by some of the comments I see why we have problems in this country. I do not tolerate disrespect from my kids. They can put up with a lot but I have zero tolerance for disrespect.

Maybe some of you guys should teach and expect the same from your kids.

I don't think suspended 2 weeks covers it. If he was caught this time he's done it before. He should not be employed by this dept. There are too many good people who want a job with a city fire or police dept. !

Beware of the killer bee.

Anonymous said...

Are you guys excusing this kid's behavior???? I admit that the cop overdid it, but that does not excuse the kid from being disrespectful. How many other kids are going to see this and think that they can behave that way?

When I was that age, I would have been scared to death and definitely would have said yes sir or no sir-not dude. My guess is the kid was on something!

Anonymous said...

3:15: this kid -- even if he was "on something" -- is apparently smarter than you. he knows that respect is something that is earned. a bully who screams at kids like a maniac is not someone to be respected, but rather someone to be ridiculed.

people like you are the reason that our individual rights are being eroded in this country. Anyone in a position of "authority" is supposed to automatically command "respect" no matter how that person conducts himself. And the rest of us, who are not part of the "authority", are supposed to get down on our knees and lick their boots and call them "sir", regardless of how poorly they treat us.

I'm glad that my parents did not raise me to be a subservient bedwetter who goes around saying "sir" in hopes that authority figures won't punish or yell at me.

I found this video sad. Sad that the pathetic "man" in the video felt he had to berate a child over a trivial matter, sad that he grabbed said child and threw him to the ground, sad that he demanded respect when respect was not earned... in short, this is part of the reason why kids grow up being afraid of pubic authority figures.

I think the dude should be checked for steroid use.

I figured he would be one of your hero's, jarlid. Somehow, he's how I imagine you being if you get pissed off at someone's "son". I apologize for my misconceptions there, dude.

1:23PM - I came in here to say the same thing, or something worse!

2:22PM - I taught my son to respectfully question authority, and he's now 28 and doing quite fine. What should I have told him to do if and when another Wise County High Sheriff tried to arrest him for indecent exposure at your nice rest-stop on 287 back in the days?

2:42PM - hilarious! I thought his "uniform" looked like how little boys were dressed back in the 50's.

Respect the skaters - they might end up rich one of these days!

And so where IS that skate park in Decatur? I saw Chico's today, on my way to Mineral Wells.

Double Fake Skip Engblom (not to be confused with Heath Ledger)

First off, I think we need to ask what made it get to that point. We didn't see what happened from the beginning and we couldn't see the kid, but I did hear the sound of a skateboard in the background when the policeman was asking if he heard him. Was the kid ignoring the cop? Even his friend told him to shut up.

I do think there is some degree of respect entitled to people in a position of authority and the lack of respect for authority is ruining this country. Kids in school have no respect for teachers anymore because teachers can't touch them. If kids were to get a few more licks on the rear they might learn there are consequences to their actions and they may think before they act.

Anonymous said...

Ok, the (moron) cop took custody of the skateboard, did he strap it on top of the energy park control buggie?

Anonymous said...

Well...I am a cop. That was bad. BUT...I have lost my cool in the past. Not that bad, but Im just sayin...it happens. We are all human.

R&R Don't say that is typical please. That it so far from typical.

I should have been a fireman...everyone likes firemen.

Skippy,

One of my hero's what?

"Hero's" is posessive.

You mean he is one of my heroes.

Another anonymous wordsmith struggling to make a point. And you have a 28 year old son? How did you make it in society so long?

Oh, wait...you drive a rock hauler, don't you? "...saw it in Chico on my way to Mineral Wells..." Yep. Keep on Truckin', Dude!

Or is that a misconception?

Anonymous said...

I liked the cops "way cool" wheels--dude!

Anonymous said...

Thanks 8:54 for your comment and for your service. You are right, it is not typical, it's just the bad ones that make the news.

If adults didn't have the attitude of House of R&R, their children wouldn't either.

jarhead - I suppose you would have called your DI "dude" anytime you wanted and he would'nt hurt your little wimp feelings by loudly eating your ass out. Oh sure! That lippy little punk needed some feedback that he didn't get at home. He didn't get maced, beaten up or handcuffed. Just a free little lesson on basic courtesy.

"...ARE YOU FROM THE COUNTY or SOMETHING!"

lol... and with that we all just stare away from our little Wise County screens and feel a little bad.

Sounds like someone doesn't get to use his big boy voice at home around the wife.

And yes Barry, that was pure gold.

If that were my kid, I'd raise so much hell that cop would have his arse fired.

I'm tellin' ya, that guy is dangerous.

2. Dressed like a fed ex guy or something.

3. Throwing a verbal beatdown on a kid, SOOOOO heroic!

4. And yes, Barry, I could hear Cartman: "You WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITY!"

I'm pretty sure that would be the Inner Harbor in Balitmore Maryland. Yep, looks like the aquarium in the background and the trade center. And if you know anything about that area...yes your attitude can get you killed there. As for the police......there are quite a few that act like that. They aren't like the officers here in Texas. You don't know what more is behind why the officer acted the way he did.
