And Another

Basic facts: Meet Emily Jones. She's 23 and engaged in some type of sexual conduct with a high school senior in Texas. All of it occurred off school premises.

Appearance: She looks a tad stressed in the picture. Kind of like she hasn't slept in a couple of days because she knew the arrest was imminent. I'm pretty sure she's thinking, "This can't be good for my teaching certificate" or "Happy freakin' Valentines Day to me." But I bet she cleans up nicely.

My Verdict: A "not guilty" in less than two minutes. Sheeesh. The "victim" was either 17 or 18 which would have made their conduct legal but for that teaching position she has. Err, had. She's suffered enough. On behalf of the State Of Texas, I apologize to you Emily. Now let's get back to the War on Drugs.

Next case.

(Thanks to the emailer who actually sent me this clip - on the same web site - about Phil King engaging in truly offensive conduct with energy companies. Now him, I'd convict. Edit: Here's a transcript of the damning story here if you don't want to watch the video.)

I didn't know Hot for Teacher was a crime. Seriously, this isn't about the age issues, just because she is a teacher? Hmmphh!

Fire her, post her picture on the news, whatever, but when did this law actually get written down?

Next thing you know, they'll make hitting on the new chick at AA meetings illegal.

Another case of assault with a friendly weapon and a sorry kid who snitched to his parents.

The Phil King clip is disgusting! To think he so brazenly laps up the gravy from those he is obligated to regulate. I think it is criminal and pray that money alone does not win in this primary. He is below scum!!

Some of you should check your hypocrisy index. You may have heard something about a party where a bunch of energy guys are greasing a politician so they can screw John Q. Public. What I heard was a party where a bunch of lawyers were greasing one lawyer so they can screw John Q. Public. I do not care of the subject.... energy, water, conservation, etc., if there are that many lawyers in one place you can be sure that John Q. Public is getting screwed.

Spoken like somebody who has no idea what lawyers are really like and really do.

Lawyers represent people, so they're often the ones seen "out front". Sometimes those clients are businesses. So sometimes the business lawyers are out front greasing the wheels. Sometimes those clients are criminally accused ... sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly. Sometimes those clients are poor folks who have no money. Sometimes those clients are people trying to exercise the rights the founding fathers supposedly secured for all of us.

Lawyers do a lot of work for the good guys as well as the bad guys. One day you'll need one to work for you.

So watch where you splash your tar.

So how come the slut teacher gets the blog headline, and the slut politician ranks only a "by the way"?

So tell me again the difference between a campaign contribution and a bribe?

It is time for King to go. I think he is as slimey as a toad and evil as a 2 headed snake.

We need to dump King Phil.

Having a relationship with a student when you're an educator breaks the "rules" as mandated by the Texas Administrative Code. Anyway, regardless, a teacher knows when he/she signs that contract that sex with a student can't/shouldn't happen. If there's a connection between an 18 and 23 year old...okay; graduation is in May. The teen's gonna talk, though...so, why any of them (young teachers) go through with it is the mystery.

4:47 has a great point Barry. You need to put the King story up by itself so it is less likely to be missed.

I agree about the law being rather strange--if she was not a teacher--Absolutely no crime whatsoever. I think this kind of behavior should be a matter for getting fired, etc., but not criminalized.

Yes, please put the King story up separately. He is also going to be in Decatur, I'm told, with Tison on Monday evening to meet with citizens. He is totally out of touch with the public. He and his wife homeschool their children and probably spends his time lining his pockets with kickbacks funneled by stooge lawyers of electric companies. I don't want a guys like that making decisions about my children's education or how much electric companies can gouge out of my pocketbook.

King is only doing what lots of other politicians do - and lots of them become lobbyists after retiring. Not sure but think our former Congressman Charles Stenholm has become one.

And so it goes. If we wanna run this country, we know what to do.

What disgusts me is the Republican women of Wise County inviting the oh so holy King to the courthouse for speeches.

What does this say about our local Republican party?

Doesn't she kinda remind you of a young Jane Fonda?
