I know you've seen this in the Update.

BREAKING NEWS - U.S. 380 ACCIDENT - An accident involving a Wise County EMS ambulance has created a traffic problem on U.S. 380 just west of Decatur. The accident happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. a mile west of Decatur. The ambulance ended up overturned, and all traffic was being diverted onto the unfinished part of the U.S. 380 construction zone for a short stretch. Motorists are finding the going slow. There have been no reports of injuries.

WOW, maybe there is something the that roadway and it's construction.

Medic 2 enroute to a call in Decatur was in a wreck this afternoon just west of Decatur. I was told none of the folks in the ambulance were hurt. Rescue 1 asked for cops for traffic control and they all came.

When is 380 going to be finished?
We should have someones head on a platter. How many more are going to die or have permanant injuries
because the state can't manage
and control the companies we contract to build our roads?

The SWAT guys were in training, and received a call to help with traffic control. As one of the guys out there, I was astounded at how many people were 1. on the phone, and 2. almost stopping mid-intersection, to see what was happening. It is very frustrating. Several wrecks almost happened, due to driver inattention! Please be safe, and extra careful in unique traffic patterns -

Hey 9:25.....U need to get your facts right......SWAT would not be po po's if they weren't already trained......MORON!!!!!!!!

Hey 10:35pm......You are an absolute IDIOT!!!!!

I had been traveling west, only about a 1/4 mile from the accident. From where I was, I didn't see the vehicles hit, but I got there, just behind the second emt vehicle that was with them. That is one messed up ambulence, and I am glad there wasn't a patient with them. It was kinda strange to see the swat (yea, I know they were training) But there were also a lot of cops/sheriff/hipatrol that didn't really seem to have anything to do. Sometimes I think they just like being part of the action.

I can't believe a semi was involved! Totally shocking.

At least they didn't kill anyone this time. I was happy to see there were only minor injuries and that the truck driver got a citation.

In regards to 8:51am....why don't you sit at your desk and leave the "coppin', sheriffin' & hipatrolin'" to the professionals.....IF THEY WEREN'T NEEDED THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DISPATCHED......

Why do so many local wrecks involve rock trucks? It's not like they are the only things on the highways.

LOL, loved teh messenger comment on todays update...

"380 DEBACLE STRIKES AGAIN - There was another serious accident in the long-delayed construction project on U.S. 380 Wednesday afternoon. Three Wise County EMS paramedics were treated for cuts and bruises after the ambulance they...."

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wish the WC Messenger would do a textbook journalistic expose on the "DEBACLE" that US380 has become.

The current montly report is on this webpage, third from the top...

http://www.txdot.gov/insdtdot/geodist/ftw/cserve/constrpt/ccnst_2.htm

original contract 518 days. Additional 85 days granted. Total days charged = 762. Days over original plan... 244. Days over revised plan... 159. Number of people you see working on the job? Zero, (usually).

Zero percent completed in last reporting period, (month)

$29MM of $31MM spent.

I'll bet it will be Summer before we see it finished.

Pathetic.

...and our state charges them a retainage late fee of less than $200 per day over the contract date, GO DRIVE and DIE for less than $200 per day. I hope u win this one Patrick Murphree, your daughter should have never been turned into an accident equation for 380.
