You'd better warn everyone about the large number of motorcyles that will hit Wise County today. You wouldn't want the ANON on the "Beware of Dog Post" (very funny) unable to find a parking place somewhere. ;)
This is a shocking example of what people are protesting across the country! Displays of a denominational bunch of fetishes should not be allowed in public places and the word CHRISTMAS should be condemned. Decatur should catch up with the rest of sockiety and get rid of references to this holiday and stop persecuting other religions.
9:32, maybe they don't feel like it. Why don't you ask the same thing about the football team, or the choir, of the science club? What is the inherent reason a marching band would be expected to help a town worship Jesus? They've been marching and practicing on weekends for months, and they recently had a tragedy.
If you looked through an adult's eye's, the parade may have disappointed you, but through the eyes of my grandchild, it was mesmerizing...I wasn't disappointed at all, I was filled with joy at watching her...isn't that what it's all about?
The HS band always marches in the Christmas parade. Due to the death of one of it's members(Shane Eichthaler) they have spent the majority of last week preparing for his and his mother's memorial service on Monday.
I agree w/Betty. My daughter was on a float and my son was thrilled w/the noise, lights and smells (horses and motorcycles!) It is what it is - a homegrown parade - which anyone can join.
If you have a problem w/the quality of the parade then get in it next year and show us how it should be done - otherwise quit your bitchin!
Hey, if you really wanted a good dose of the band, you should have stayed around for the impromptu DHS jazz band concert from the northeast courthouse steps. They were exceptional. And they may be back there next Saturday night.
Jazz on the square in Decatur, and by a bunch of talented high school kids. Who'd a thunk it?
I believe that there would have been more people doing floats for the parade but the forecast was rain. Several people canceled so kids wouldn't get wet. As a result the weather changed. Sorry you were disappointed 9:32 but maybe next year you can do a float and show them all up. Some people did work hard on entering their float to show community support.

The parade was very disappointing! And why doesn't the high school band march in the parade?
The Wiccans will be very pleased that the courthouse is adorned with their symbol, the pentagram.

Christmas "a poor excuse to pick a man's pocket every 25th of December."

the hs band didn't march because the director chose for them not to because of the boy's death.
They chose not to march because of the accident and the loss of one of their members. Another is in ICU. It is understandable.

It was like a local marti gras...except there was no flashing, or beer, or beads...nevermind!

Anybody question Barry's "Decatur Getting All Christmas-ee-eey Tonight"?
A few possible reasons:
1. BG is bored.
2. BG is NOT in the Christmas spirit.
3. BG knows who we are and how he can question us as future jurors.
4. BG is gathering information from our comments for a future book.
5. BG is insensitive to Betty Boop.
6. BG IS SCROOGE!
7. BG is jealous of anything Decatur does that might be done before Bridgeport does it!

7:15 - wow, wish I had heard that jazz band. Bridgeport bands have one going too.
Now, if we can just have a jazz festival around the courthouse. As close as we are to UNT, why not?
It is past time.
And, the band and choir and theater and student council and everyone else involved did a very nice job with the memorial service.
Thank you all!
