looks like the high school "ever 8 seconds" DWI presentation. pretty good.
The program is "Every 15 Minutes", that picture in question is from Paradise HS from the Spring of '06. The program usually visits a Wise County HS Campus once every few years. Last spring Decatur participated in the event. Kids are pulled from class every 15 mins, their obit. is read over the intercom, they are sequestered and cannot speak to anyone "living" the rest of the day. The highlight of the event is the recreation of a DWI accident, including all emergency response as it would happen in real life. (That is what is taking place in the picture, the demonstration.)A video is made of the day and shown the next day at an assembly. The kids that "die" throughout the day spend the night at a out of town location and cannot talk to anyone that is not there at the location. This is to simulate the feeling that the victim has actually died. Their parents read letters that they wrote with the premise if the student died today what would have told them if they could. The student does the same for the parents and friends. Usually a member of the faculty is involved as well. This program has been popularized by Brock's Doug McWhorter who lost his daughter several years ago in an accident with a DWI driver around Xmas. Doug has done the program in multiple states and hundreds of high schools.
i remember when they did this at my school. really makes you think. and the guy who plays the grim reaper, scary as hell.
exactly 5:31It's a good thing.
No, 5:31PM......it's God's warning that Wise County is one of the Devil's armpits. Where is that Devil anyway?Could he be.......petting puppies?could
Our senior year in 1984 we just drank Stroh's and Hamm's Light at 1 in the morning. We made it HOME because we were more mature to say "ENOUGH". Now it takes a slide show, 15 minutes of fame, where are the parents today??????
The parents are too busy waiting outside the IGA in Bridgeport, waiting for the beer coolers to be finished and Pearl Light to go on sale.
The parents are watching the simpsons and oprah and waiting for the government to raise their kids for them. This cannot turn out good.
Doug and Lezlie (Erwin) McWhorter's daughter Mandy (along with 3 or 4 other high school girls) was killed by a drunk driver outside of Weatherford several years ago. Saw his presentation at Weatherford College's fish camp it was very moving.
6:20...And to all, I have not been petting puppies or anything of that nature. Just spent the last couple of weeks with the worms in Mexico!!
