Indeed a poor choice of words but the reality of it is that most people are partying today. The general public has forgotten what we're memorializing. "Memorial Day" is now synonymous with "Beer, Bar-B-Q, and Bikinis."
And the people we're remembering died so that we could have "Beer, Bar-B-Q, and Bikinis." So I haven't forgotten them.
