This is an example of what I was beeyotching about a couple of weeks ago.

Love that liberal mindset. They can't see the irony in a news story. Is Al Gore still flying around in a G4 promoting his movie?

I guess I can understand thinking this doesn't disprove global warming.

But do you feel the same way about people like Al Gore using isolated weather events and/or unusual one year weather patterns to prove global warming?

Read Michael Crichton's book, "State of Fear." I believed in global warming until I read this book. While it is fiction, he includes facts. There are sources, footnotes, and charts throughout the story. It allows you, the reader, to make your own comclusion. IMO it's all hype.

Love that conservative mindset. They think a science fiction writer = science.

I think his site is the #1 hit site in the world. What an idiot! Besides, he's just stating a fact. The meeting on GW was cancelled due to the weather. He did not draw any conclusions from that. He just stated the obvious. As I said in your aforementioned blog, the proponents of GW do the exact same thing.

To txsharon--the best science fiction is based on real science with a fictional human plot. I was an avid science fiction reader during my pre-teen and teen years, and I can't even begin to recount the number of things I learned by reading science fiction. I remember amazing my mechanical engineering major roommate by knowing metallurgical facts, which I had learned just by reading a lot. Of course, not all science fiction is based on established science (depending on how "future" it is), but Michael Crichton is the type of writer who usually bases his "what-if" scenarios on pretty sound science.

Michael Crichton's "Pretty sound science" is based on old data.

The Global Warming debate is just another political tool for our two parties to haggle over. Remember the "War on Poverty" and the "War on Drugs"? This time around it's the "War on the Climate". If you ladies and gentlemen want to believe the hype it's entirely up to you. However, when you trumpet the opinions of questionable science you make yourselves look ridiculous (sharon & barry). Perhaps you two would be better served to keep your attention on race and the southern heritage issues or maybe whether or not space aliens founded the Freemasons...

Al Gore says that we are all doomed in less than 9 years so we should all party like its 2016.

What is the difference between The Dallas Morning News reporting school closings and Drudge reporting the Global Hot Air meetings closing because of a winter storm? The difference between BSG and Drudge is that Drudge links to news stories and doesn't inject his opinion and BSG does. How does that make Drudge an idiot?

So many folks on this blog are troglodytes on the climate issue. They form their opinions based on what they see out their window or hear from pseudo scientists. The planet is some 4 billion years old and it's been through many periods of change. However, humans and their domestic animals have been around for "only" 2 million years. Modern man has been around for 3 or 4 thousand years but our real impact on the planet is only in the past 200 years.

Get with the program, folks, by far the majority of qualified scientists from all over the world agree that humans are having a major impact on our planet. The results could be catastrophic if we don't take action - now. If we don't, our children and grand children will inherit a vastly degraded place in which to live.

Anon 11:26, You stepped in it now! I bet the anti-gay, anti-shot, anti-SI Swim Suits are nail you for the "2 Million years" statement.

didnt ha also say we would all die by 2002 or something

did it ever accur to any of you that if the scientist say all is well, they would soon be unemployed.

if race was no longer an issue Jesse and Al would have to start flippin burgers.

follow the money

"Hey Noah....need any help with that ark?"

11:26 You need to get grip. The planets temp has increased like .7 degrees in one hundred years. Totally not significant when you figure error rate. And how do you know that the scientists you are listening to are not pseudo? And you might want to take a recount about your statement, "by far the majority". Were you one of those succored into the ice age coming 30 yrs. ago? Probably the same scientists telling us GW is happening that told us the ice age is coming. It's called OVER-REACTION.

Global warming is reality, guys. If we don't do something about the CO2 output into the environment, it will destroy the planet. It may not be in our generation, but it will be evident in the generations to come.

Consensus is not science. What is it? Global hot air or Global cooling? I want to be on the right side and do the right thing but I do not know who to believe. I am a sheeple and can't think for myself or read different opinions and come to my own conclusion. Someone save me from making the wrong decision. Should I buy a Prius or a Hummer? If I buy a Hummer and in the next 200-500 years the Earth has warmed because I added to the global hot air, I will feel terrible. On the other hand, if I buy a Prius and did not pollute enough to keep the earth from cooling, I will still feel terrible. I am so confused.

Hey Sawed Off, Don't believe everything Al Gore tells you. He has already been proved to be a liar. He invented the internet, Love Story based on him and Tipper. He flies all over the world on a private jet and has a fortune in Occidental Petroleum oil stocks that his dad left him from being on the board of directors. This is all just a push to keep big government in your life and more taxes taken from you. Liberalism is a mental disease.

Troglodyte here...

As long as I can cut a hole in the ice to fish from, I'm all right. One of these days I'm going to get around to Al Gore's movie but until then I'll just hunker down in the cave and wait for the spring thaw.

What's a liberal? Am I one of those?

Ah, "global warming," my favorite subject. Too bad the pro-global warming crowd (always man-made, of course) have to cheat, misrepresent and intimidate in order to prove their points.

Why don't they report that the majority of Antarctica is getting colder, not warmer?

Why don't they ever discuss the "Little Ice Age" when discussing the infamous hockey stick graph?

Why is the UN's global warming summary written by politicians, not scientists?

Discussion is no longer allowed. Else ye be called a "denier." Wait for the "international tax" on global warming that the UN will want America to pay.

Oh, and Barry, regarding your previous posting about the temperature averaging an increase of .10 degrees per year over the last 100 years -- you're right...on "average" it did.

But you never hear that the temperature went UP from the late 1800's to the 1930's, then DOWN from about 1940 to the 1970's, then started up again. It has not been a constant increase in temperature. And why did the earth cool at the same time that the use of automobiles increased the most?
