"They're All White Up"

The Star Telegram's Bud Kennedy is on to the Wise County European American Republicans in his own blog. (And I'll give him credit: He saw it before I did.) Edit: This will be the subject of Kennedy's Saturday column that will appear in the Star Telegram.

Gawd, how embarrassing for Wise County. The flag thing was bad enough, but now this? Geez, this freaks should be ashamed.

Under the county judge information the word occupation is spelled occpation.

Hysterical!

I just hope the party switchers like their new "images"

As Dr. Phil would say to all liberals, "How is that Air America Radio working out for you?"

Anonymous said...

it's already all over the internet. great. what a bunch of ignorant hicks. who cares about issues and voting records? it's all about your race, baby.

how's that culture of corruption working out for you?

Anonymous said...

Who gives a damn about what other people think??? It may not be the way we want to be portrayed but in the end who gives a shit about others thoughts.

Anonymous said...

Hmm. "W" couldn't have said it better himself. (Er... hisself)

Anonymous said...

i give a shit. property values and all. hate to see 'em go down any further. what a hell hole!

Anonymous said...

Culture of corruption? Oh the one with Harry Reid, William Jefferson, and Cynthia McKinney?

Anonymous said...

Could be worse. Could be revealed that a very prominent and public person is guilty of the same crime he or she pursues others for with a religious zest.

Barry, can't you find something more positive to blog about this close to the election?

Anonymous said...

What does D.A. stand for in the name D.A. Sharpe?

Dumd Ass ???

I don't care what anyone says. Wise County is a nice place to live. Those of you that bash it are such blowhards. Get down off of your ivory towers and go move somewhere like East Grand and Fitzhugh in Dallas where your appreciation of diversity will be welcomed with open arms and pointed pistols. That bashing of Republicans and Conservatives by Liberals (not necessarily synonomous with Democrat) is so tired. Those types of liberal Democrats are giving the party such a bad rap. I don't know why the candidates ethnicities are listed and I don't really care. But I do know that I'm really tired of politicians'(Republican and Democrat alike) failure to focus on real issues that desperately need attention.

Kennedy must be really bored if he has to write anything about Wise County Republicans.

Who cares what they do anyway?

Yawn.

10:39 Do you know the Chair of the Wise County Republican Party? I don't think you do.

Also, I don't think Barry Green knows the Chair of the Wise County Republican Party either or he would never post this thread on his blog.

D.A. Sharpe chairs a local party of our neighbors, friends and fellow church members...and perhaps chairs the party of our children!

Is it o.k. to refer to people as African Americans, Mexican Americans or Native Americans? Is that politically correct? If the answer is Yes, then why is it not poltically correct to refer to someone as European American???

Perhaps Barry is not concerned with the real issues of this election like teachers being forced to teach only the test.

A real discussion of issues isn't as amusing to someone who enjoys reading silly comments!

7:03 - correction - not everybody who posts on here enjoys reading silly comments.

Though not a Republican, I do admire the county party for working hard to organize and faithfully attend meetings. And, Republicans get out and VOTE. That may be changing with new and fresh leadership in the local Democratic Party.

For the first time in a long time, Democrats have good solid leadership. Folks are beginning to gather and are showing more interest in the party. I applaud Brenda Rankin for her hard work in trying to pull local Democrats out and get them involved. But if they want to make a difference, just having one big barbeque at Greenwood isn't going to do it, though it is a nice beginning.

The Republican Party in Wise County has worked hard. The Democratic Party is going to have to do the same.

I don't care which party is in "power". What is that anyway? It is about leadership.

Looks like someone in the WC Republican Party just discovered "Free, White, and Twenty-one". Must be followers of Trent Lott and Strom Thurmon (you know, the guy who bashed blacks while sleeping with his black maid and having an illegitimate child).

I am a Democrat (Born Dem .. Raised Dem ... and Proud to be Dem) and I agree with you.

Brenda Rankin has done a wonderful job to bring the local Wise Democratic party out. Her leadership has not gone unnoticed.

Although I admit it should have never been listed D.A. Sharpe has also done an excellent job and knowing him it is my opinion that he meant nothing by listing the Ethnicity of the candidates.

D.A. has for some time (as a Hobie) traced ancestral roots of I think just about everyone.... Mr. Sharpe is a very kind hearted man whom values family and their beginnings (as do all the Democrats I know).

The jobs of County Chair are not easy and take tremendous amounts of personal dedication. I applaud both Rankin & Sharpe and they will always have my respect and trust.

Barry, how can you promote Bud Kennedy's Saturday article as being good for the county?

It is not helping! A good man does not deserve this treatment during this time of his life!

This is why good people don't want to get involved in politics are serve as leaders.

Anonymous said...

I wonder how they'd label Tiger Woods if he was running in Wise Co.? What is his ethnicity? How do you determine it? Are you allowed several designations? In what order? Do they list your wife's ethnicity? Your children?

Collectionsite said...

Hey Everyone ,,,

Barry did not create the story .. he only reported what was there.

So lets not kill the messenger ...

no computer automatically types ethnicity...somebody deliberately typed it in. american european is a term used by david duke leader of the white supremist. not a common term. it was no accident. expose it. eradicate it. it's wrong.

With regard to your link to TXSharon’s blog subject “Update: Republicans busted for blatant racism. Worse than Allen!” Where’s the rest of the story?

What made TXSharon go looking for anything she could find on the Wise Republicans this time?

Here’s the real scoop. TXsharon was rebuffed by two Independents and one Democrat for constantly race-baiting. All of those posters had publicly stated that they were going to vote for several Democratic candidates. Because TXsharon had announced on several subject postings that she was working in the David Van O’s campaign they thought that her race-baiting would harm his and other Democratic chances.

TXSharon actually provided the answer when she offered a link to the local “racists” . . .

“I realize now that I have been slightly beaten down and suppressed by the local racists who accuse me of "race baiting" when I call them out.”

Since TXSharon was kind enough to supply the link, I hope someone out there will actually read the entire Wise County Messenger forum discussion that started this latest outburst. It can be found at http://www.wcmessenger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=756&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Instead of backing off from the race-baiting, TXsharon reiterated:
“I implied that Republicans have a base full of racist and haters and that the Republicans use the issue to excite that base just as they did before the 2004 election with their religious base.”

Concerned about how her race-baiting would affect Democratic candidates, one poster, Breezy, asked:

Speaking of your display of “political acumen”. . . You have openly announced on this forum on more than one occasion that you support David Van O’s for Attorney General, and that you are working in his campaign. So, more than what I say, what you say here and on your blog is a direct reflection on him. I like everything I’ve heard concerning Van O’s and I plan on voting for him. So I have to wonder what kind of reflection your constant race-baiting has on his campaign. What would he think about your statements? Would he support your race-card playing, or would he tell you to kindly “shut up” or disassociate yourself from his campaign? I’d really like to know, because that will effect my final decision. . . .”

At that point TXsharon appeared to call in her loyal troops for assistance.

Again TXsharon and her race-baiting minions were rebuffed by Breezy:
“That’s exactly true. I know that we are all for varying notions of immigration reform here. But to imply that those who are against massive illegal immigration must be racists, who are “demonizing Mexicans”, is race-baiting. To call the Republican base, the majority of the party, “racists and haters,” is race-baiting. To attempt to link those majority of Americans who are against massive illegal immigration to the religious right and/or Identity Christianity, to the militia movement, to the Klan or Arian Nation Brotherhoods, or to xenophobes, is race-baiting.

It is legitimate, however, to question if this is a wedge issue “that is being driven by the Republicans to create fear and excite the racists and xenophobic and to get out and vote.” (I just quoted TXsharon on that.) In the same way, it is legitimate to question the use of race-baiting as an attempt to create fear of Republicans among those minorities and marginalized peoples and groups in order to keep them in the Democratic fold.

As an independent, I see fear-mongering tactics employed by both the Republicans and Democrats. This clouds the issue by keeping us focused on the underhanded tactics rather than being able to find viable solutions.”

Still more protests to Txsharon and her group of race-baiters. This was from Sierra’s Mom
"THAT was uncalled for!! Whether you agree or disagree with someone on the issues, stooping to “name calling” is…excuse me for saying this, but…childish!! This is most likely why so many people will NOT post on the board!

We can agree on issues…we can disagree on issues and debate them…great!! That’s what this country is all about!!"

And a loyal Democrat, named 7117, protested to TXSharon

“You like to " put a spin" on anyone's post that disagrees with you. You've been called on this practice more than once on this board.

Now as far as I'm concerned ...post what you think is in your best interest. It's your right to do so.
However... I'll remind you that we are in a crucial election in this state and just a few weeks away.

It would be in the best interest of the Democrat candidates that you claim to be in constant touch with...if you not drive any voters away or get them to questioning the candidates stand on the issues important to them...just because they are not important to you.

Because of your repeated responses and lack of courtesy in answering my concerns regarding securing our southern borders and the fact that you appear to be representing Chris Bell on this board, that I've began to look at the other candidates running for governor.”

http://www.wcmessenger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=756&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=90

So, Now you know the rest of the story!!!

Anonymous said...

10:31 said it best of all!

And all of these rants do more good for the poster than to the readers.

Anonymous said...

9:27PM, why don't you ask the same question to the county commissioners that ganged up on Kay Swaim? Of course they completely ignored the fact that she has more ticket load than any other precinct. Or that it isn't a recent thing, but it sure was convenient to bring it up now.

And I'll say it again: DA Sharpe is just showing his pride in his family's plantation-owner heritage. Can somebody tell him it isn't the 1800s anymore?

Collectionsite said...

Anon @ 1:54 am

As the County Coordinator for Chris Bell please let me address your comments regarding our next Governor.

TX doesn't speak for Chris Bell and neither does anybody else in this discussion forum. They share there thoughts about his public issues and interpret them to best of there abilities. Voting for someone based on how you feel about someone who supports him is really ludicrous. Vote for who you want, but vote for the person who is running, not their supporters.

Anonymous said...

Anyone who claims to be a coordinator or an integral part of a candidate’s campaign can’t be ignored. What they say and do IS a direct reflection on the candidate. It means taking responsibility for one’s position and for one’s words when working on behalf of another. And if someone publicly announces that they are working for a candidate, then they and the candidate have to live with the supporter’s words. That’s common sense!!!

Anonymous said...

How about everyone use common sense, look up the candidates and find out for your self what they believe. Then make an informed decision.
What ever happened to personal responsibility. I am a Republican and I am embarrassed by what DA Sharpe did. It was racist. I hope that people know that not all Republicans think this way. Please to not base your vote on one mans poor choice.

Anonymous said...

Being a Republican myself, I have read the "Conservatives" on the other board (the wcmessenger one) and I always thought I was a bit conservative until now. The term conservative Republican is something I am not willing to call myself. I would also like to point out that on that other board, some Democrats have done a great job of race baiting with the diatribes on immigration too. Wise County is crazy and I am glad somebody else like Bud Kennedy has pointed that out to you. Nobody should kill the messenger for addressing an issue like racism and somebody on that other board called it "human". I for one would like my .02 cents worth, but those radicals that call themselves "conservative" scare me.

What I have determined since I have been here is that there are the Republicans, the Democrats, the Independents and the Crazies.
The crazies think they are apart of the first three, and may be in leadership roles in them. What they do not realize is that the rest of us try to stay out of their way. SSh Be very quiet maybe they will not see us.
