All dead from defending your freedom. I quess we should just give it up. Bring everyone home because the rest of the world does not play nice and sit in our own borders and be happy. . . . Oh, wait a minute, that is right everyone from other countries wants to come here illegally and share in the freedom we a trying to defend. Just shut up and enjoy freedom served to you on the backs of the American servicemen and women that do things for this country you are not willing to do or even understand on a commitment level for our future.

Anonymous said...

they are not defending our freedom you dumb ass!

the soldiers in afghanistan are defending our freedom. the ones in iraq are being used.

just use the american servicemen and women and manipulate the ignorate populace until they buy the bs and use those american servicemen and women some more.

you are truly pathetic.

Hey, 9:59! How about getting out from behind that computer and signing up to defend some of that freedom you are so intent on yapping about. What's a matter? Chicken?

Anonymous said...

Remember them telling us the "end of our world as we know it would occur if we pulled out of Vietnam?"

We did, and W is visiting there next month. 55,000 then........3000 now.

Barry, you just stooped to a new low.

You disgust me with this latest ploy against President Bush. It shows an absolute lack of humanity!! No, I wouldn't vote for the likes of President Bush again, but I sure as hell wouldn't vote for anybody you would support after this abomination.

Shame on you! VOTE your conscience people, not what this IDIOT advertises for you.

9:59 answer

Liberal lean 10:04 no since arguing with someone that can that has to use name calling to get the point across. I mean come on!

10:11 Yes I'm chicken, but that does not mean I do not appreciate the commitment it takes to do to be in the armed forces. My Grandfather drove a tank in WWII and my father served in the Navy.

Hey, 10:11. I did serve my country right after the Tet offensive. Lesson learned? Our leader aren't always dealing straight with us.......then or now.
That whole shit-hole isn't worth one American boy.

Let's get about being energy independent and sticking the Arabs where it really hurts.

10:23 thank you for your service and your sensible comment.

And 10:14, get off Barry's back. He reported a fact. A salient and important fact, regardless of your political position. The fact of our losses is no more a "smear" on President Bush than it is an "advertisement" for the Democrats. It is obvious from the other comments to this posting that this is an issue of significance, and that many Americans differ on how the issue should affect our future actions. Pointing out facts and issues like this are the essence of American political discourse. Debate is what makes America great. Whether you think their sacrifice is or isn't effective for protection of our values, the right to engage in such debate is nonetheless an important reason most of them are doing what they do. And I would submit that troops can be found in Iraq in support of both opposing viewpoints.

I agree with anonymous 10:14, Positively POOR taste and lack of judgement in posting such a heart wrenching photo.

Just remember to VOTE!! No matter who you vote for....just VOTE!!

11:20 we should all witness the heartbreak this unnecessary war has caused EVERYDAY! it's our duty. may this never happen again that a country is manipulated by a liar and a bunch of thugs.

thank you Barry! remind me anytime.

Anonymous said...

Wishful thinking 11:20!! Politicians are not honest people.

Disgraceful photo in my opinion. But your right to post, I guess. My vote won't be a reflection of that photo but of the evidence of all the politicians.

"Any man's death diminishes me..."

Two points: 1) Reporting the daily death toll in Iraq may be accurate; however, there is a tremendous lack of coverage of the military successes, what these men and women died for. That imbalance in coverage is where the propaganda lies. Have you ever seen a story in the mainstream media on progress in Iraq? Of any kind? We may be getting the truth, but we're not getting the whole truth.

2) Liberal Democrats use a fallacious argument: "a) The war in Iraq is wrong because soldiers are dying. b) Soldiers are dying because the war in Iraq is wrong." Not a word, no idea, no interest in how America should be protected.

Before you vote, ask yourself: Exactly what would Democrats ever fight for? Eight years of a Democrat administration's lack of backbone, despite numerous terrorist attacks against American targets, brought us September 11. Are Democrats more interested in defeating Bush or in defeating terrorism? If America's enemies could vote, who would they vote for?

Anonymous said...

I am against this war too, but it galls me for photographers to take personal photos like this one showing a grieving family. That reflects gross insensivity.

Using such a private family moment for political purposes should be AGAINST THE LAW!!

Anonymous said...

This Democrat will/would fight when America is attacked.....Afghanistan for example. I would pray my leaders would send me fully equipped, protected by credible intelligence, in credible numbers, and be willing to alter course when needed. While I'm over there, I would also hope my leaders would not denegrate the patriotism of any fellow American who saw it differently.

Anonymous said...

Liberals are against this war and all the ones to follow. Paint a bullseye on your ass and bury your head in the sand.

oldphilosopher said...

To Wordkyle and Anon 1:53 - HOW DARE YOU CHALLENGE AND INSULT MY PATRIOTISM because I may choose to vote for a Democrat! And while we're at it, how dare you insult the patriotism of political leaders for choosing to be members of the Democratic party!

If there are scumbags on this blog, then you are them. Democrats have fought, bled and died in every damn war we've had, including this one. Most of the Iraq war veterans currently seeking office in THIS election are running as DEMOCRATS. Look it up.

Assert whatever political opinion you wish, on whatever issue you wish. But fearmongering accusations that anyone who disagrees with you are cowards and traitors is going too damn far! And there's been TOO MUCH of that going on for too damned long.

I consider myself an Independent. I vote a mixed ticket, but I vote for more Democrats than Republicans. And I DAMN SURE consider myself a patriotic American!

And I think you know where you can go.

This liberal is againt this war. Count the retired generals who have spoken out once out of uniform. Regardless of the lies that got us in.....I do think we need to win it. Let's start by firing the guys who have made all the mistakes...........leading to 3000 dead. Let's build support for our actions by not hiding behind bumper slogans, but by doing the right things. Support has waned because this mess just doesn't square with reality. My militry friends tell me the Pentagon if filled with bright minds if the politician would step aside and let them do their job.

Anonymous said...

1:53, I am a liberal but you can't possibly know my beliefs. Yes, against this war. Yes, for affordable health care. Yes for raising Bill Gate's taxes. But yes for building a 2000 mile fence. Yes for universal military service for our young people. Yes, for a national ID card. Yes, for my gun safe full of weapons.

As for future wars? My IQ tells me to withold judgment till I know the circumstances.....who fired first, real or imagined enemy, real or imagined national interest.

To do otherwise reveals an IQ only in double digits.

to oldphilosopher:

You need to take a chill pill. I read wordkyle's post, and he didn't, not even once, call you a coward. He questioned the Democartic leadership's lack of backbone... and I AGREE!! The democrats have been doing propaganda work for the enemy ever since this whole thing started, ALL BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DEFEAT BUSH AND THE REPUBLICANS... and if you want to see name calling and slandering, read just about any liberal post that has disrespected PRESIDENT Bush over the past few years. Democrats will stop at NOTHING to win elections.
Another point I agree with wordkyle on: Why haven't we heard ANY ideas from democrats on how to handle the terrorist situation. Remember, Clinton was in power for eight years before Bush, and to believe that all the mistakes began with the Bush administration is just the same ol' liberal blah-blah stupidity.

you leave oldphilosopher alone! i think i'm in love.

Anon 1:23, Were the terrorists that flew planes into buildings wearing Afghan military uniforms?

Anonymous said...

Anon 2:18, No one called you unpatriotic. The liberals in politics and running for office are the ones that are unpatriotic.

wordkyle said...

OldPhilosopher: HOW DARE YOU TAKE OFFENSE at something I didn't say! (In all caps, yet.) Are you that angry at the terrorists? Are you willing to send them a sternly-worded note in ALL CAPS? That's more than the Democrat leaders have suggested.

If my going "too far" bothers you, then refute my arguments. Those thoughtful people who are not brainwashed by the liberal media will consider both what I'm saying and your responses. Do you think you've made a good case for your side?

By the way, namecalling is unbecoming. It reflects poorly on you as a person.

I have family and friends over there and if one of them dies because of the lack of foresight from our leaders. You may take as many pictures that you like of me grieving and put it up everywhere. This is a part of war. People must see every ugly corner of it in order to make an informed choice. If this photo makes you feel uncomfortable, GOOD it should.

Anonymous said...

3:48 - What's your point? The 9/11 plane terrorists wore no uniforms but were trained and directed from al Qaeda in Afghanistan. The participants were from several countries but none from Iraq. The question most of us have is why are we at war with Iraq if they were not involved in 9/11? Using your illogic, maybe we should be at war with the nations of all the 9/11 terrorists. Wow! That would show 'em!

Anonymous said...

The people making the statement that the liberals running for and are in office are unpatriotic, and weak on defense are a bunch of ignorant ASSES.
I am so tired of the bunch of ignorant ASSES running around in this county. I am tired of trying to explain to them politely how they have been bullsh*** into a war.

Anonymous said...

3:48 you are so stoopid! the terrorists who flew those planes were from saudi arabia and egypt. NONE were from iraq.

holy cow! do you live under a rock?

Anonymous said...

wordkyle: you are full of it:

1) when there are successes the media reports. currently there are none.

2) what a crock! the war in iraq is wrong because it the wrong freaking country. that's what the democrats say. they have a plan but you continue to pretent that they don't

i'm a democrat and i'll fight your ignorant ass any day in the week and i'll consider it on the weekends too. your damn right i'm a fighter but i care about our military and i don't care to misuse them.

your run is over. it's our turn now.

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:01. You just don't get it. All the liberals don't have a problem with us being in Afghanistan but do with us being in Iraq.

Anonymous said...

6:08 Afghanistan is where Osama lived and since he was the one who orchestrated the attacks on NY and since that is where his training camps where it made sense to go into Afghanistan. Since Iraq was secular (that means they weren't Muslim) and since none of the terrorists were from Iraq and since Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11, a war in Iraq is purely an indulgence of this petulant, self-serving president.

Try, try, try to understand.

wordkyle said...

Anon 5:08 PM: Thanks for your comments. They demonstrate how wrong you are.

1) The military's CENTCOM website (http://www.centcom.mil/sites/uscentcom1/Lists/Press%20Releases/Current%20Releases.aspx) lists 20 successes from the last 3 days on the first page. How many of those did you hear about on the news?

2) The Democrats' plan would be...what? "Same as Bush, only better" is pretty much all they've said, without details of course.

Funny how you're all angry and want to fight me, but you don't say anything about wanting to fight the terrorists. Priorities, anyone?

Your last comment reveals your -- and all Liberals' -- real motive. Power. Democrats will say or do anything -- including undermining America's military efforts -- to seize power.

Wow, what if the Democrats don't win control of Congress next week? What will you do then? Hmmm?

Anonymous said...

Try reading the emails and blogs of our soldiers in Iraq. They tell a completely different story then what the military websites tout as their successes. The soldiers are right there living it every day.

The Democrats plan would be to get out of Iraq because we are only making it worse. Then the other Middle East Countries working with the UN could take over.

There is a better, smarter way to fight the terrorists. History anyone.

Every comment you make reveals your real motive: Cover up your wretched mistakes.

No fear. Your run is OVER!

Anonymous said...

Middle east countries working with the U.N.? My sides hurt from laughing so hard. When was the last time the U.N. did anything successfully? They have already cut and run since some of the peacekeeping forces were murdered. Any other great ideas there John F'ing Kerry?

Let's see, 103 service men and women killed in the war on terror in October and 1,225 murders in the US. Wouldn't it be safer for all of us to be in Iraq?

Anonymous said...

11:34 - yeah, 150,000 servicemen in Iraq and 300,000,000 people in USA. That's .007% in Iraq. Same % in USA would be about 210,000. Guess it's safer here than there. But then you'd be incapable of calculating that fact.

Anonymous said...

11:34 WHAT'S YOUR HOLD UP. I HEAR THEY ARE PRETTY DESPARATE AND WILL TAKE JUST ABOUT ANY BREATHING PERSON.

Anonymous said...

I have an idea. Let's cut and run and leave the second largest oil reserve in the hands of the terrorists. And then let's complain about high gas prices and how Bush is making money for all his friends.

Anonymous said...

FINALLY! You admit what this is really about.

IT'S NOT OUR OIL!

So, because we want their oil, it's okay to tell a bunch of Americans lies and go kill 6000,000+ innocent civilians and 3000 young Americans?

IMMORAL SERIOUSLY!

How about we use our American ingenuity to come up with some renewable energy sources and let them keep their oil?

Anonymous said...

You are so stupid you don't realize the absurdity of your own reason we are in Iraq. And while we are reinventing the wheel, the terrorists have the upper hand.

Anonymous said...

Every good Republican knows it is about OIL.

Anonymous said...

My, my... tensions are high right around election time.

Anonymous said...

If you think gas will go back up to 3 dollars a gallon or more on Nov. 8, go ahead and think it. If it doesn't, then it shows how stupid you are for believing the Kool Aid mantra of the great minded liberals(Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Schumer, Clinton, TxSheehan).

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:52, I forgot to include the numbers of abortions per month, approximately 90,000. Sorry that I mislead you on the numbers.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9;52, Can you calculate these numbers for me? I am too stupid to do it. Since the first of the year, there have been 128 murders in New Orleans. Population 187,000.

Anonymous said...

"If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq . It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they're afraid to debate real men. And this time it won't work because we're going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq ."
