HELL YES, and from a former law enforcement officer, the damn schools need to nut up and intorduce the paddle. I was working in Wise County and have since retired, but the schools expect Law Enforcement to handle everything. It is BS that they have to waste our tax payers money writing tickets to kids that talk in class. Paddle some ass, or paddle the parents ass.......!!!!!!!

I agree 8:42, what we have now is a society full of disrespectful kids with no direction. And I didn't say all, there are a lot of exceptions, but I guarantee you that the kids that are respectful and do well have been disciplined at home appropriately. Dr. Spock's theories are the absolute worst thing to happen to this generation and to our schools. I could go on and on about what is and isn't appropriate punishment, but that would just end up in a battle...kids should be spanked on the bottom and all the appropriate measures should be applied, tell them you love them and so on.

Folks, it's over. There's no need to worry about discipline, the situations with our schools, or the next generation. We have lost the battle. Somewhere in between about 1960 and today, it flipped on us. Now it's too late. Nothing we can do. It's a welfare state, and before too long there won't be enough givers to pay for all the takers. Then your house will be broken into, car stolen, identity stolen as we transition into a barter society, every person for themselves as roving bands search for food. Don't bother raising good little kids. You need to be raising soldiers.

we spank, and before school was out had the principal spank our son. he wanted to put him in ISS for homework issues. said "no" spank his butt, (but not such nice words.) he was in 5th grade and he didn't forget his homework again either...so alvord does paddle but the parents have to ok it.

The legal issues facing educators who administer corporal punishment is overwhelming. Educators would like to have the power to administer corporal punishment, but the courts have eroded that altogether. They need to call parents to come take care of the business, but many will not even take care of it at home.

More parents should have beaten their kids to death and the comments here support that

Go ALVORD!!! I am glad to know that it hasn't changed. They never minded spanking my butt when I was in school and that is the way it should be. I know that when my kid gets into school we will allow the school to paddle them and then they will get it again when they get home!!!!

3:26, there is a big difference between spanking and a beating...please.

...if we don't get control of these kids AND parents - we can expect our school campuses to become little prison systems.

..what a sad commentary to the condition of our homes.

..very very sad.

It surprises me what a weapon is necessary to spank kids and that so many people get excited over that.

I am not against physical punishment - to a point and to an age - I just don't think you need a piece of wood to get the job done.

8:36 The idea is to spank the kid, not hurt the parent's hand...

Just remember, if bruises occur and they are substantial, CPS will be called and an investigation will begin. There are true abusers who abuse their children. Although you may believe in spanking your child. There are some people who don't know when to stop. There is abuse to our children in Wise County on a daily basis. Please remember this, and know that Wise County CPS is overwhelmed with people who decide to "punish" their children with "spankings."
