Think This Might Push Her Over The Edge?

"HOUSTON — Rusty Yates, whose former wife drowned their five children in a bathtub in 2001, said Tuesday that he is getting remarried." And I'd be a little worried about the sanity of the new bride.

Did you see the new bride? Geeze! But then Rusty is no great catch either! (They met at church. Now, how many more kids does Rusty think he can get with this bride?)

Rusty caused Andrea's illness to grow to the point of killing her children and their mis-guided ultra religious life. These folks who are so conservative and have such narrow views of the Bible, have no grip on reality. Just like the lady who is on the news every day about cuttin off her daughter's arms.

Rusty should be behind bars. These kooky churches with their cult-like attitudes should be held accountable too. The Bible is constantly manipulated and then people like Rusty and these ministers manipulate the Word of God to suit their own agendas.

I agree that the new bride is probably as unstable; although I don't think Andrea was unstable until she became a baby machine and had to be cooped up at home all day with post partum depression.

Anon 9:27 You must have some problems to work out can I help?

9:27, you hit the nail on the head. Andrea Yates is the textbook example of post partum depression. She needs to be in an institution getting intensive psychotherapy, not in a state prison. She is sick, she is not a criminal.

If we put all the religious nuts in therapy or prison, I'd be able to get thru the lines at Decatur Wal-Mart much quicker.

OMG! I just don't understand you people...she IS a criminal...she MURDERED her five children. As a woman, I am sick of other women blaming their criminal activities on post partum depression. There is medication for people who are depressed. And to play the BLAME game, whether it be some sicko cult or your sicko husband is just sick itself. SHE should be held accountable...PERIOD.

I agree with 8:20. People need to take responsibility for their own actions. That's the problem with society; there's always someone or something else to blame. To 9:27, just because you have issues with religion doesn't mean you can criticize religion in general. While there are some cults in the world, not all religion is like that. I'm sick and tired of people killing their children and blaming it on God. It's an excuse!

If your 4 year old child kills his pet or his father do you advocate sending him to prison for 30 years?

This is obviously an extreme example but one must recognize that some people are not mentally responsible for their actions. Some are insane, some are profoundly retarded and some are temporarily incompetent. They cannot be held to the same standard as the rest of us "normal" people.
