I think I would have tried to have more assurance that she would quit smoking before investing all the time and money. If I understand correctly, smoking could prevent a successful result from this surgery.
It does seem that there was a rush to "be first" on the part of the French surgeons, with the result of selecting this lady to be the subject. Of course, they are also-----French. (Hopefully, she will handle her "personal demons" and be a success story.)
How do you punish your dog for this? Do you point to your face and tell him, "NO!" ?
Does he still recognize you?
Would those commercials on tv of puppys licking babies faces creep you out?
Is the dog a hero or a monster?
This whole story leaves me with many unanswered questions.
kehk, that is too funny, a bit mean but funny in the least.
Not to be mean or ugly but why would SHE get a face transplant when she tried to kill herself? What if she does it again? Then all their efforts were in vain...
I actually saw this press conference live on PBS and she has no control over her mouth it appears... she would speak but her lips were not moving. She said that she could feel her nose and lips but I wonder if she will ever have full functionality of them.
Medical progress is great.. sometimes it isn't a matter of who deserves it or not, sometimes it is being at the right place and the right time. As she obviously was.
She does seem to have been a tortured soul, prehaps this will show her that life it worth the living.
