As UT v. USC Is On The Horizon . . .

. . . it is only appropriate to pay homage to the USC Song Leaders. The each have individual profiles on the school's web site.

When . . .

. . . does a person stop growing and begin aging? 18 years old? 21 years old?

Ever Wonder . . .

. . . what Britney Spear's home in Malibu looks like? Answer.

The Machinary Of Death Slows Down

"In 1996, 320 murderers in the United States were told they would die for their crimes. But in 2004, the latest year for which complete statistics are available, 125 people were sentenced to death. That marked the fewest since 1977. In Texas, death sentences have dropped from 37 in 1999 to 15 in 2005, the fewest additional inmates on death row since 1991." From today's Morning News.

Weird Thought About Heaven

Since heaven involves eternity (which sounds both good and bad), wouldn't it be cool if we start off in heaven at age 1 and age to, say, 80 and then begin getting younger each year. You know, go 78, 79, 80, 79, 78, 77 etc. all the way down to 1 and then the process repeats itself all over again. I'll start lobbying for that and, since I'm Baptist, I feel pretty confident I can get that deal done.

"You're My Boy, Blue"

Patrick Cranshaw, who played Blue in the movie "Old School", has died. Cue "Dust In The Wind". (For some reason, I can't post a picture of the guy right now).

Ka-Ching

The Texas Rangers introduced Kevin Millwood today as the team's newest (and best) pitcher. He signed a 5 year, $60 million contract. You have to love the MLB Player's Union. That amount of money is guaranteed regardless of injury and/or suckiness. (A real word, I think).

I Wonder . . .

. . . what would happen if a person were to go to the Wise County Jail, strip off all of his clothes, and then taunt the deputies? (Video). It's actually not the Wise County Jail, but it's kinda funny to think that it is.

Looking For A Nickname

Looking at the Top Ten "Rap Singles" in the DMN today, it is inescapable that I need a cooler name. The nominees, based upon artists appearing in the chart, are:
  • Gipp
  • Da Brat
  • Bow Wow
  • Young Buck
  • 8Ball
  • MJG
  • Young Jeezy
  • Akon
  • D4L
  • Twista
  • Lil Wayne

Maybe He Will Finally Do Something

Tiger Woods turns 30 tomorrow. His career earnings on the PGA tour total $63,787,396 (and then you can add the endorsement money on top of that).

Boyd VFD

The Star Telegram today has an article on Boyd's volunteer fire department being run ragged. Will Smith, no not that Will Smith, even got his picture in the paper.

Talking Movies

Gary Cogill: Top 10 worst and best films 2005. I've seen four of the Top 10 and none of the Bottom Ten.

Texan Of The Year

The Dallas Morning News continues its countdown with #4 today. So far . . . 10. Harriet Miers (thinks W was the best governor "ever") 9. Joel Osteen (mild manner guy with a short tempered wife) 8. Kim Mulkey-Robertson (Baylor basketball coach and the greatest person "ever") 7. Robert Rodriguez (the Hispanic Quentin Tarantino) 6. Tom Craddick (pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaazzzzzzzzze) 5. Ronnie Earle (the most wheels off DA "ever") 4 Jamie Foxx (I can't get that Gold Digger song out of my brain).

I Don't . . .

. . . understand people. (Google video)

Video Clip Of The Year

As the Internet grows, there is not a single piece of news talk show video that doesn't make it to the web. My vote for the greatest clash of the year is this one of Phil Donahue on Bill O'Reilly's show "talking" about the war in Iraq. Phil schooled him.

I Promise

I have not been near Lake County, Florida lately. (story)

Grass Fires

Based upon the amount of police radio chatter going on at 2:30 p.m., there appears to be some pretty big grass fires popping up. Developing. It seems like the two main fires are near 730 in Boyd and another around CR or FM 2048 (I don't know where that is). A helicopter has arrived to drop water.

Burn. Burn. Burn.

Fox 4 News' tonight's lead story were about the grass fires in Wise County. Sounds crazy.

Enough of Good Tidings

Ok, I've got a post-Christmas gripe. What is up with the sales people manning the kiosks at Northeast Mall who approach you and bug you to buy their products as you walk by? I felt like I was walking through downtown Matamoras.

Worth A Smile

This morning, a man was going up and down my street yelling "Merry Christmas, it is time to get up!" I grabbed my camera. This photo was taken a few moments before 8:00 a.m.
