Holy, Holy, Holy

Is it OK to give a standing ovation in church? Edit: Is it Ok to give a standing ovation in a church for a reason that is unrelated to the purpose of worship?

It's okay. Get over it. Sounds like this lady is an evangelical with a good sense of right/wrong, extreme/moderate, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

Barry you crack me up is it ok?
Come on people, its ok to have fun in church! laugh, jump up and down, run if you want to sing to the Lord with a joyful noise! Church is suppose to be fun! If your church is dead go find one that is alive! Jesus laughed and had a good time on earth, we should to! I have a blast at my church serving the Lord Jesus!!!!!

Another whoop-tee-doo "issue" for us to ruminate on the Blog. No big deal...nothing there......standing ovations happen when a majority of a body of people independently stand up, coming together to applause something. The church body wanted to, the reasoning wasn't UNchurchlike, so who cares?

......i think the fact that Mier received applause was an affirmation to her as a member of that church family. Kinda neat.

..she'd better enjoy those nice things now........if she gets a seat on the Supreme Court, she may be booed and hissed at for the rest of her life.

There are several occasions to stand in church. For instance, when the national anthem or the Hallujah Chorus is played or sung. Clapping your hands has its occasion. Putting them together is probably acceptable as well. Thanks for asking, though.

I don't think so. Look, there's 140 people that belong to that church. They can go up to her after church and offer their support. But church is NOT supposed to be FUN. Church is supposed to be worshipful, prayerful, respectful, where we wear our best, act our best, etc. and commune with God on Sunday morning. Yes, Jesus laughed and had a good time on earth. That's what we all should do. But he didn't do it in a worship service. Religion has become entertainment in today's world, and we've lost alot of reverence in our services. On Sunday morning, it's supposed to be about worship, not entertainment.

Jehova's Witness Baby Oh YEA! I have my points--do you? lol....

7:16 - i am inclined to agree with you about the lack of reverence in some church services.

..but those churches are growing at an amazing rate........

....i just wonder what they are doing out in the world after worship.......

.....that's when worship becomes service....

I guess you never heard of dancing before the Lord?

It appears Harriet worhsips in many ways, attends many churches and is making everyone nervous about how she will vote on the Supreme Court!

It appears she changes her mind or goes the way the wind blows!

Perhpas she will be George W. Bush's alter ego on the court, at least for the next three years.

Then after that, it is anyone's guess.

What the senate needs to know is what James Dobson knows about her, what Land knows about her. Of course the two have sold out to big business.

There is so much politics in churches now. What ever happened to what the Lord taught about feeding the poor, healing the sick, taking the message to all the world?

The first church visit was the appropriate response...not Cornerstone!

1:24 am:

I wonder how some of the people who are now attending those "irreverant" churches were doing on service before they started attending.

Some churches attitudes amaze me. They sit on 17th century style furniture and sing songs from 18th century composers and wonder why society doesn't flock to their doors. They don't grow because they don't try to be relevant. (and I don't mean water down the messasge either). If you look at the larget local church's history you will see that they either haven't grown or they have declined in attendance despite large increases in population.

If you can't get people to come, how will they hear. If you keep on doing what you have always done you will keep on getting what you always got.(and that way is losing ground)

7:16: I am glad I don't go to your church. I challenge you to tell us in scripture where it says we are to wear our best, act our best or that Jesus did or didn't laugh in a worship service or even "But church is NOT supposed to be FUN".

9am: She can go wherever or as often she wants. Obviously, she realizes that people can worship in different ways and he supported both groups.

Barry: She deserved the church's ovation. They were trying to build her up. With all of the people attacking her, encouragement was needed.

7:16 Church is not suppose to be fun? Jesus was the happiest person among His fellows thats what the bible says! I believe he laughed in Church! So many people go to sporting events and yell untill they cannot talk anymore! jump up and down laugh, cry etc... But in church no way sit down shutup, be quite! most believers will not even pray in public, if you ask them they get offend. whats wrong with that? a lot! most people go to churches that do not allow music in their church, just sing from the books, no drums etc...

But as soon as they leave church they have all kind of cd's in their cars and plug them in ( C&W) etc... Wow..........

This is always a dead giveaway when you ask someone about their relationship with God ( O thats personal, its between me and God I rather not say) Jesus said if your deny me in the open my Father will deny you in heaven.
