Behind The Scenes

In the Star Telegram tomorrow, there will be a story of one alleged drug dealer found "not guilty" of killing another alleged drug dealer. No one will care. There is an unwritten defense in criminal law that has a shocking motto: "Some people just deserve killing". I heard it in law school. I heard it as a prosecutor. I still hear it as a defense lawyer. You'll never see it in the newspaper. We value some lives more than others. That says a lot about us.

That's why we have abortion clinics.

I say we put all of the convicts, and unwanted people on a desolate island. Let them create their own society. Excommunication from the world.

Honestly don't you believe in your own heart that some lives are more valuable than others. Surely if one had to make a choice between saving Jeff Dahmer or say Leo Salk the obvious choice would be Salk (Okay I know Salk is already dead but you get my drift) The point is some people contribute to society and others take from it. Those contributing should be given more value than those sucking it dry.
